"Think, Act, Focus." _Hajra N. Abdel
Belinda's P.O.V
"Mmm..I don't feel like waking up.." I groaned while looking at my phone to see what time it is.
"Holy shit! Oh my God!, this can't be! I quickly rushed to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
"I can't believe it's 11:30am, how could I have forgotten to set the alarm!" I let the warm water from the shower rain over me as I run fingers through my hair.
I rushed out of the bathroom and quickly dressed up, ran down to the kitchen, grabbed some apple and then left the house.
Luckily enough, the taxi drops by and I immediately stop it. "Excuse me sir, would you mind dropping me at LA SCOOPERS'?"
««««««»»»»»»»»Hours later.......
"Miss, You're already at the establishment." Said the taxi guy.
Thank you, how much is it? I asked while shuffling through my wallet.
"$5 Miss." He replied.
"That's $10, please keep the change, thanks once again." I smiled and left.
"Thanks!, You ar------,
"See you!" I blurted, quickly opened the door. All I could think of was, "I hope the offices are still open!"
I was already out of the taxi but I heard a few of what the driver was saying behind my back, talking to himself. It sounded more like whispers.
"Oh God, such a kind soul. If the world was filled with such people, the world would be a better place to live in." The guy couldn't stop grinning as I watched from a distance, I couldn't stop wondering about what he said while making my way to the reception.
I know this isn't the right time nor place to think about this but how did my parents even die, I can't stop thinking about it and up to now, I've never really got a clear answer. I hope one day I can visit their graves. May their soul wherever they are keep resting in peace. Suddenly wind blows a piece of my hair. "That's weird..." I thought to myself. I got lost in my thoughts only to be brought to my senses after hitting something really hard, well not that I know of, surprisingly its a human. Tall, masculine, the suit fits him right, I could see his abs through even though they were hid by the blazer, his hair...dark as those scary dark nights, his eyes are so bright as the moon but they are so cold and filled with so much ego.
Belinda gather yourself, remember looks lie!
I'm sorry sir, I didn't ----mean to----
"Shut the heck up!" The guy bellowed.
I gathered myself, picked up my bag and hit him hard with it as soon as I stood up.
"You would have given me a memo, signal or something before you let me waste my million dollar apology on you!" I shouted back more rudely and confidently." This is not something I planned!" I continued. It was just a simple accident!
"Oh! You've got some nerves woman!, What are you doing here? Oh no, let me rephrase that, Can you leave this premise before I call security!" He snapped.
"I'm not moving a single step from here not until I talk to the owner!" I grumbled. My response seemed more of a threat as well. He didn't say anything instead he walked away. I walked to the reception. "Hey Miss, Good afternoon." I offered her a hand shake.
"Good afternoon to you, I'm Nora. How may I be of help?" Her warm smile made it seem like all my problems were solved, I could feel hospitality and professionalism at it's peak.
"I would like to talk to the owner of this company." I replied with a smile. I mean, it is only fair that I returned the smile.
"The owner is not around." She answered. Ooh, I glowered.
But...
"But????!" I broke in with so much hope.
"But the next of kin is around, you could just speak with him if it's that urgent, I can tell from your looks that you badly need to deliver whichever information you've brought." Nora suggested.
"However, the boss has clients in his office right now. It may take long but you can wait if you don't mind." She added.
"Alright then, thank you Nora. You've been of so much help." I'll just wait here.
After 3 hours past, Nora informed me that I could get in.
"Thanks dear, wait what? Dear? I think I've got fond of you, nice to meet you." I laughed.
"No problem." She smiled.
"Belinda you can do this, calm down, calm down.., there's no need for you to panic." I said to myself as I climbed the stairs to the next of kin's office. I saw the lift but I needed to buy more time and cool down abit and compose myself.
I went closer to the door, breathed in and out and then started knocking on the it.
"Come in." A familiar voice answered.
After a few seconds, I opened the door ajar as I peeped my head through.
I could only see the back of the person who was busy organizing his desk. I turned around to close the door.
"Nora I need you to call all our clients and tell them about the new offers and I-----whoa! whoa! Look what we got here! It's a small world, don't you agree?" He exclaimed.
I lifted my face up to see who it was but the voice was simply enough for me to know that I've met this person before. II almost broke down upon seeing his face, there was a chair that I used to support myself from falling, it was the guy that I rudely exchanged words with a while ago. Hold yourself Bel, "Think, Act, Focus" ...oh Heavens! Thanks to the author of such motivating words, I should do exactly just that. There's no way this rude spoilt guy is going to get in my way. I came here for a purpose and of which purpose has to be fulfilled and accomplished.
"Good evening Mr. Next of kin, with all the confidence I started greeting him. For starters I'm not a "what" , I'm Belinda Parkers and secondly I had an appointment with the owner of this company but according to the kind lady downstairs, the owner is not in." I finished.
"The owner you say!" He asked.
Well I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the owner is my father, HE is me and I, I'm HIM!" He stated.
"So?! God, something escaped my mouth.. I said to myself more so that only me can hear that.
"So..? Did I just hear you utter that?" He asked. His eyes were changing colors.
"No sir, I'm , I mean.. I meant to say, so thoughtful of him! your father! Silence filled up the room for a few seconds.
"Actually I didn't have any appointment with him" I decided to say something since I was already feeling uncomfortable with the silence. I came here to check if there are still vacancies, I'm a fresh graduate, but I used to have some after school jobs so I believe I'm the right candidate for LA SCOOPERS' due to my experience. And by the way I'm sorry about my encounter with you a while ago.
"Just leave your resume and all the necessary documents with Nora., this is definitely not the time to talk about that, office hours are done." He stood up and left.
"What the fuck! Unbelievable! Did he just do that?!" I felt like punching something or maybe run after him and kick his ass! Who does he think he is?!"
Nora, check my office before you sign out. II heard that! I barged into their conversation.
"Excuse me, for the records I need to set some things straight, I'm not a thief. You therefore don't need to say all that creepy crap! I said to him.
Nora, thanks once again. I have to leave. I then heard my phone ringing. I walked away as I checked the caller ID to see who it was. It better be not my ex!
"Bel!, I've just been employed!" Kelly shouted through my phone, my ears..oh my poor ears. I could feel the happiness she was filled up with.
"Kelly would you at least be gentle on my poor ears!" I told her excitedly.
"Wow! I'm so delighted sweetie, Girl I'm so excited for you!" I shouted back.
"Thanks love, but hey..tell me about you. How did it go?" She asked me.
"Everything was hell, Kelly you need to see this idiot! Do you know he didn't even look at my resume! All he said was, "Just leave your resume and all the necessary documents with Nora, this is definitely not the time to talk about that. Office ours are closed." And with that, he left me there looking like a miserable fool!
"Oh Heavens! Bel, I don't know who that lunatic is, but you sound exactly like him!" We both burst into a very loud laughter!
"Seriously Kelly, I really needed that. You have no idea what this dude is like, I have to give credit to his looks though." I told her
"Anyway don't give up dear, don't forget our dreams. Remember. It's out of disappointments that appointments arise, don't be your own barrier to your success as quoted by Hajra N. Abdel"
I could Sense Kelly heading to her usual quotes lecture, she's been reading lots of books lately, literally she's addicted to all these reading platforms; Wattpad, Goodnovel, Readict, Sofanovel, Padafrique, name it?!
"Yes! yes! Kelly I get it, I will always look upto that. I had to cut the chat short otherwise we would forward it even to the next day.
"Just checking!, What are you doing tonight?!" Kelly questioned me.
"Nothing, I hope you're not thinking what I'm thinking, otherwise I will murder you! I could already sense what she was thinking.
"Okay fine, you win. Sorry but it's exactly that. I hoped maybe we could go grab some bites and dance a little!" she exclaimed.
"Kelly you know I hate crowded places. Party's make me sick! However we can hang out some other time in a much more quiet and peaceful place.
"Okay, I will be waiting for your call. It better not be one of your silly excuses, girl you need to loosen up a little sometimes. Alright see you then, Louis is calling me on the other line. Mwaa, love you!" Kelly then ended the call.
Kelly and I are the best of friends, seriously I don't know how we even connected, we both have different desires. She's so outgoing, a little bit jumpy, stubbornly crazy. A cutie, real cute. She's got these cat-like hazel big eyes that would murder any man's soul with just a mere glance! Unlike me, Kelly's life is going just heavenly perfect, she just got a job that pays off really well, a man who adores her. Louis is a lawyer, and not just a lawyer but one of the best U.S.A based lawyers. Her parents are damn rich! Don't ask me why she had to go look for a job? I guess that's one of the few things we have in common, independent. We hate it so much when we depend on people. We love to always stand up for ourselves.
Author's note
Belinda is one hell of a woman! "For starters I'm not a what” Does she have any slightest idea that this dude, is the one with the job she's desperately Hunting?!
