When Simon said it, everyone's attention was focused on him.
He too knew that everyone wanted to go and see a dungeon, a dungeon was like a cheat for a practitioner to earn resources easily and boost their cultivation speed but according to the rules of the academy, anyone below Level 10 cannot enter the dungeon. Furthermore, once they enter their life and death would have nothing to do with the academy, it was one of the rules written on the contract every student had signed on before entering the academy.
Simon then continued "It's good that you understand that much, I will add some more things to it, dungeons are created by natural phenomenon and can be altered. Our predecessors learned from the concepts of the dungeon and created Trial Towers, which are also regarded as Artificial Dungeons.
Their functioning is basically the same but they are well-engineered, safer, and sometimes have better rewards, after all, they carry the inheritances left behind by the powerful warriors whose names are still remembered by the masses. We have one Trial Tower at the center of Imperial City, once you reach Lvl 10 you would be able to enter it but here's an advice, don't let greed and overconfidence blindfold you, it's better to go and explore with a team rather than going alone, trusted comrades are harder to gain than legendary treasures so start finding them, the sooner the better,"
Kale was listening to the lecture when Layla poked him from the side using her elbow and whispered into his ear "You can fully trust me?"
Kale turned and gave her a long look, he lightly chuckled.
"Hey I'm serious, our interests are also the same you know," She snorted then pointed at Alice "You also like bigger ones, right?"
Kale smiled, he thought 'What an interesting girl, I won't get bored at least,'
He just turned when he saw Arlo giving him thumbs up. Kale lightly nodded thinking 'These guys, it hasn't even been 3 days properly and they think that they have truly become friends, the day a situation of life and death arrives they will realize how thin this illusion bubble was. Whatever, I have long gone past this stage, my rule is simple, enjoy things while they last,'
After about an hour, the lecture reached its end.
Simon looked at them again then said "I believe, most of you has already decided on a profession while some are still confused, the academy will provide you all with the kingdom's best foundation secondary cultivation techniques for Mutant, Battle Knight, and Mage, all three types, so it's better if you read all three of them before making a decision, even if you choose wrong you can use the Reset Potion, to destroy the wrong foundation and start again, it's just starting so you won't lose much. But choose carefully, it's your future, you have to decide what you want to be and how far can you go for that,"
After saying that Simon left the class.
Kale felt his phone buzzing and checked the notifications, all the notifications were from the Imperial Academy app.
Ding…
[You have received Imperial Psychonic Energy Conversion Art.]
[You have received Imperial Battle Qi Conversion Art.]
[You have received Imperial Mana Conversion Art.]
[Note: This is a conditional message that cannot be copied and would automatically get deleted after 7 days.]
Kale looked at the three techniques and thought 'Depending on the technique I practice my Origin Chasm will change, if I chose Mutant Mage profession then I need to just combine the 1st and 3rd technique respectively.
But once my Origin Chasm is converted it would need the use of a similar type of cultivation technique to grow, meaning although I can increase my lifeform level with primary cultivation technique, to grow my strength I would need to cultivate 1st and 3rd together or I will not grow as a practitioner,'
Primary cultivation techniques help in cultivating life-form level, allowing the practitioner to absorb more original energy inside their body but to convert it and guide the energy inside the Origin Chasm, one would need secondary cultivation technique.
The secondary cultivation techniques are made in such a way that they can be easily combined by using in succession, if the techniques are taken as ropes, then the user had to just attach the end of the first rope to the starting point of the second rope then endpoint of second rope to the starting point of the first rope.
But because of combining them, the rope will become long and it will take more effort and time to cultivate, the benefit is Kale would have 100% Psychonic Energy of a Mutant and 100% Mana of a Mage.
'What a pain, I am still doubting my decision, the instructor is right, the academy gives one free Reset Potion to students if needed, and student can also buy them again if they want to, a single person can use Reset Potion three times so I can experiment three times if I fail. It's better to go and first see if my cultivation technique from last life can be fused and used with Battle Qi refined after using these Imperial Techniques.
Wait, there is still my second class. I will do it after checking out the Class W3, the techniques are not running away after all,' Kale thought.
After saying goodbye to the trio and dodging Misha's interview he finally left the classroom and headed to his second class.
Class W3 was on the other side of the building, so it took him quite some time to reach it.
When he entered the class, he saw the instructor preparing to start the lecture.
She was a woman, she had short black hair and dark green eyes, her skin complexation was on the darker side. The woman wore a green-white jacket and dark green pants.
She looked at Kale then signaled him to come in as she said "So this makes it six,"
Kale scanned the room and realized her meaning, only five students were sitting in the whole class, three were boys and two girls. The two girls set together while the boys were spread around, securing their territories as solo players.
Kale took a random seat in the second row and sat on it, he then observed his surroundings, this classroom was smaller compared to the one from before moreover it had a theme of nature, there was a big flower pot in each corner, the long green grass-like plant was growing inside them.
The plant had a peculiar smell to it which gave a refreshing feeling to anyone who inhaled the fragrance.
"All 6 of you being here only means you had chosen Wood Mage as your first step to becoming a mage, so from now on Class W3 is your main secondary class and I'm responsible to give you your first test," The woman said with a faint smile on her face.
Her words startled the students, it was yet another surprise. The education pattern of the academy slightly varies with each batch, so they were prepared for an unexpected event but talking about tests in the first class was something that caught them off guard. The instructor didn't even introduce herself before she threw the bomb at their morale.
One girl finally couldn't hold back, she raised her hand and asked "Instructor, it's our first class we don't know much about being a Wood Mage,"
The woman signaled her to put her hand down and said "Don't worry, this test is kind of different it's more like a small mission, you don't have to complete it right now," Her words had just relived the panicked students but then she added "The task is for you to become Rookie Wood Mages in 2 months, or else the penalty is same as any test, which is to participate in elimination trial and getting expelled from the academy on failure, even if you do pass you won't be able to join Class W3 in this batch,"
Her words were like cold water that was poured on the face of the students, their faces were stiff, some were already started to regret coming to this class.
While they were panicking, the woman was quietly observing their expression, as she thought 'Sigh… Another batch of greenhorns? Looks like no one figured out the loophole and started cultivating before today except the last boy, he shouldn't be scared by… Huh?'
When she was thinking about these things, her eyes landed on Kale who had no change in his expression, on the contrary, he looked slightly excited as he could finally go and cultivate mana after the session. As for the test, he wasn't worried in the least, he was the most matured and experienced person among his peers if he couldn't do it then who can?
The woman was somewhat surprised, earlier when Kale came in, she had sensed the fluctuations of Origin Energy from him and could tell that he had started cultivating so her favorability towards him was already higher compared to others and now it was increased further.
She then organized her thoughts and spoke "Ahem, such a feat is not easy for newbies like you to accomplish so on my request the academy has decided to make three Mortal-Rank spells free for you and lent you Magic Stabilizers for these two months, now choose the one you like," She snapped her figures and several accessory-like equipments came out from her purse on the table and floated in the air.
There were colorful bracelets, neckless, earrings, pendants, and even a ring.
As soon as Magic Stabilizers appeared, the students started looking at them in a daze.
The fastest one to react was Kale, he pointed at a blue metallic ring and spoke "I choose that blue ring,"
The woman lightly smiled, she moved her finger and the ring flew to Kale.
He caught it and put the ring into his pocket instead of wearing it.
Maintaining the stability of the flow of mana while casting a spell is a very important factor to a mage, this is a common function inbuilt in magic wands.
Magic Stabilizers are magic tools made to help newbie mages stabilize the flow of mana and control it while casting a spell, they are like a low-grade version of magic wands, they are less expensive than magic wands but they are still very expensive, students of the academy weren't allowed to bring things like that inside the academy so although many of the students were rich enough to afford it but they could still not bring it in.
Kale's action woke up the other students who were in a daze, but unlike Kale, they were calm and took their time to choose the Magic Stabilizer of their preference. The number of Magic Stabilizers was more than twice as the number of students so they didn't feel like there was any need to hurry.
After everyone made their choice the woman placed back the remaining ones in her bag and spoke "Let's get started, I didn't introduce myself yet, right? Okay then, I'm Fina, a 3rd Tier Wood Mage,"
Her words surprised Kale.
When someone first chooses a subclass and becomes a mage then it's called 1st Tier Class, then after reaching required mastery they can then proceed for the next advancement.
For next advancement, they can either fuse multiple 1st Tier Class to get a 2nd Tier Class or just increase their knowledge and skill level in their 1st Tier Class to upgrade it to 2nd Tier Class.
No matter the way they do it, advancement wasn't easy it took time and understanding.
Sara and Raizo both were at Elemental Mortal Lifeform level and they were still only had 1st Advancement Class. Raizo was at the peak and intended to advance his class by increasing his understanding of it while Sara was mastering two classes intending to fuse them and unlock a new 2nd Advancement class.
Even if they fail or remain stuck, they can still cultivate their primary cultivation technique and advance their lifeform level but their strength won't increase and they will soon hit bottleneck making it harder to advance even in the lifeform cultivation.
The Magma Mage subclass of Simon was at 2nd Tier Class which meant that the woman in front of them was above in status and strength compared to him.
