A few minutes after she was dragged into a dark room she has soon pushed out again. She stumbled as she lost balance and landed on her face on the floor and cringed at the pain.
She soon got back on her feet and looked at her surroundings, there was no one and quickly went down the stairs and found a lot of people around the table playing a game.
"Oh Nanny there you are ", Aunt Shay said while drying off her hands with a dishcloth and whispered something into Nanny's ear and pointed the door.
Aunt Shay came out first and she followed behind. She lowered her eyes to Freya's pocket and tapped her wrist and she gently nodded as she got the message. Whatever was in that box she was given earlier she had to do something about it, soon.
The Aunts and some cousins who wanted to help cook were in the kitchen preparing for the thanksgiving dinner. She made a few sandwiches for her but her hand frequently went to her hip touching her right pocket. Feeling if what she left there earlier was still in.
She took the tray and went up the stairs. Before she opened the door to her bedroom to took one last glance to see anyone was in the hallway and entered. She banged the door in a hurry and quickly went to his side.
"Here take this ", she handed the small jewelry box to him after placing the tray on the table. She rushed to the window and closed both the opened windows and curtains.
"What's this now ", he asked.
"Open up and see", she said sitting on top of the table. He placed the box next to her hip and carefully lifted the lid.
"A paper. Is this a love letter? You've fallen for me. I knew there was a reason behind the sandwiches ", he laughed as he placed his hands on the arms of the chair. He glanced at the plate and took it to help himself.
"This is no time for playing games. Nanny dragged me inside a dark room for this so I'm opening it ", she said
She carefully unfolded it to find a message written on it.

Dear Freya
I don't know when you are going to find this box but I hope it is sooner. When you find this message please read it carefully and make sure to get help as soon as you can. It can not land in the hands of the wrong person.
I've been with you, your parents, and Mike since you were kids and I've been quite exposed to most of your family members and I can tell a few things about them but this right now isn't about them but your deceased mother.
During the anniversary preparations, you went on and on looking for a ladder. And when I was sent to go and check if the decorations were done right by your mother I happened to see you on that ladder planting some tiny black studs on every corner and I went back.
And hours later just as the ceremony began your mother was murdered in cold blood which was so sad and heartbreaking to every one of us. Judging by your reaction when you dropped your mother when she drew her last breath I knew that she told you something.
I knew that you wouldn't give up on finding the people who killed your mother and I confirmed this when I saw papers on your bedroom table. Few days after moving out of the house you and Sammy came back claiming that you left a few of your belongings but went to where the event was held and that gave me ideas on what you could have wanted.
Just as most people say that your greatest enemies are the people close to you and that is when I did my part of digging. I knew that your mother wasn't the type of person to make enemies outside so the person had to be close.
My suspicions were indeed confirmed when I found something in your Aunt Shayna's bedroom. I know you won't believe this now just like I did but weeks later after your father left for the business trip with her I knew that something must have been up to her sleeve and went to look for more information in her bedroom. Moments after getting in I heard a phone vibrating on top of her bed.
Luckily her phone had no password but slide to open and the moment I started reading all those texts I couldn't believe my eyes. I took screenshots of those sent them to my phone and later on deleted them on hers. You will find all those pictures in the tiny box together with those cameras and will be able to find whatever evidence to get justice for your mother who was just like family to me.
I don't know if I'll be able to live for much longer. I've received death threats and a few threat calls from unknown numbers. They will come for me sooner than I think. And she's watching everything I do. She knows.
And I must warn you. She has connections everywhere and makes sure that it reaches the station commander or someone higher than that for it to be taken seriously, the others are already bought off by your aunt which is why the case was closed.
I know that I'm not dead yet but I think they are getting closer every day I no longer have any time left. You have done everything to me and this is the least I can give you for everything, a lead to your mother's murders.
Make your mother proud even in her grave. Fight for her justice.

End of letter.
Freya wiped the tears that streamed down her cheeks and gave the paper to Max. He placed the plate with half of the sandwiches eaten and read it. She stood up as he read the paper."Now this is a lead ", he said and pulled his phone out of his pocket. "Where are you. You need to pick something up ", he said and hung up. "Take a seat and down I'll give these to one of my tech guys in the van a few yards from here and come back.
He made a beeline to the door with his car keys at hand and phone. He inserted the box in his pocket joggers and ran down the stairs. He went down the stairs taking two at a time.
Just as he opened the door someone else opened it from the outside.
"Oh Max are you leaving? ", Aunt Shay asked.
Max cursed at the back of his mind. He just needed to deliver this so fast and come back to make sure that Nanny and Freya were safe.
"No I just want to meet a friend", he managed to make an excuse.
"Oh a friend", he laughed. "Make sure to spent the most time with that friend", she said. Max raised an eyebrow. "I meant tomorrow is never promised spent the most time with those close to you ", Max nodded but he sensed that deeper meaning behind her words.
She went drove out of the drive and when he came out Max and his girl drove in. He dropped the box and came back and went into Freya's room but she wasn't there.
"Ahhh ", he heard someone scream. He unzipped his sweater and took his gun in his hands and followed where the scream came from.
He went along the passage but when he saw people he hid it and came in. Right at the center of the bed lied a woman in a pool of her blood. The other handheld a razor and Freya was in the same bed weeping with her brother next to her.
This was not one of the Aunts. She was...
He couldn't be it back in his memory until he remembered Nanny. Nanny!!
What happened to her. But he was quick.
He rushed to Freya's side and asked her what happened.
"She..cut her..wrists ", she was continued crying. "And lost a lot of blood ", she managed to complete her sentence.
