The girl looked up at the monster holding her sister, then back at the strange fox. She knew that there wasn't much time before the creature did the same with her as it had done with her whole village just now.
The fox simply blinked, it's black eyes shining brightly, it opened it's mouth to repeat it's question for the fourth and final time that day.
"Do you wish to make a deal with me, and become a magical warrior?"
It's face stayed as calm and as neutral as always, but Kari could swear she heard a hint of smugness in it's tone. Not like it mattered anyway.
Under any other circumstances, she would've ran a banishment ceremony on it like all other unnatural creates she had encountered before. However, this was different.
Kari wiped her blood and tears on the sleeve of her dress, and sighed, before saying the words that would change the lives of generations of young girls and women all over the world to come.
"Yeah, sure, whatever. I'll play along. As long as I can save Nala, that's all that matters to me." She glanced over at the giant holding her sister, who was now sobbing.
The fox simply held out it's paw, which Kari gently placed her hand on top of. At first, she didn't feel anything all. Suddenly, after about 5 seconds of nothingness, she felt something powerful rush over her body. She didn't feel pain, or cold, or hot, or any normal feeling at all. All she knew, was that it was strong.
A beam of light shot around her, and within seconds she was holsted up into the air, in a fancy new dress and hairstyle, holding a decorated bow and arrow. Time seemed to slow down, as she thought of nothing but killing the wretched being holding her sister.
Kari pulled the arrow back tightly, before aiming at the monster's head, and releasing it. Just in time too, as it had her sister's head in it's mouth seemingly ready to take a bite.
The arrow shot cleanly through the monster's head. It's grip loosened, and out fell Nala. The creature stumbled back a bit, before finally falling limp onto the remains of her village.
Kari panted heavily, an angry but determined look on her face. Suddenly, she remembered her sister's crying face, and slowly hovered down to check on her.
She dropped herself onto the ground and ran over to where her sister fell, who was breathing and shaking heavily. She bent down, and hugged Nala.
For them, it was over. It was finally over. But for the fox creature, and Kari to an extent, it was only the beginning.
"Congratulations, Kari.", said the fox creature, a small smile having formed on it's face. "You're a magical girl."
