Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Meaning of Justice and what is fate

"Justice?

But throughout my life, I never saw justice? All I saw was pain, suffering, and hatred only

Is it because I lived in a different world? or because you failed to deliver it to everyone?" Chiyou asked the Spirit King

His question made everyone look at him in surprise, there is no way that anyone will doubt the capabilities of a god and question them about their work, but Chiyou just straight questioned their work and also asked if he failed to do his job properly.

Sun Mo is all amazed and also a little bit worried as he knows that Spirit King is a god and if he finds things not good, he may show dissatisfaction and this could lead to the annihilation of his whole kingdom.,

But on the other side, he is happy as Gods have always favored Humans over demi-humans, so he is happy that someone has questioned them.

On the three brothers side, all three of them are angry as they have seen and been talking with the Spirit King since they were a child, so they found the question of Chiyou very bad and full of arrogance.

The Spirit King smiled and said "It seems like you have been through a lot King of Sullegar"

"Yes, i have been through a lot and i know how cruel this world is and the meaning of so-called justice" Chiyou said without any hesitation or a single blink

Its clear that both of them are going to start an argument

"What does justice mean to you then, King of Sullegar, King Chiyou?" Spirit King asked with a gentle smile

Chiyou nodded and answered "There is no definition of justice, as every one of us holds a different meaning for it.

For rich people, living a life in luxury where no one will dare to ask them anything, that is justice for them

For a poor person, allowing him to earn more with his skills, letting his kids study in institutes, and being able to satisfy his kid's hunger, is justice for him.

Justice changes its meaning every time when things change for a person, and it will be always different from person to person.

There is no definite meaning of justice.

So, will you please allow me to hear what you have to say about justice?"

"You truly have different thinking than others, King Chiyou,

Please allow me to answer your question then

To me, Justice is not just related to some action only, but also an ideology, moral rightness.

Being able to ask a question, is justice

Not thinking wrong about others, is justice

Helping others is justice

Not being greedy about something that doesn't belong to you is justice

Justice is a deed that helps our soul to be free from suffering and pain."

Chiyou didn't say anything for a second, then he asked "Does it hold the same meaning for everyone?"

"Yes, it should"

"Then what about someone who has suffered disrespect, curses, and no honor throughout his life, should justice mean the same for him also?

Should he not greed for respect?

Should he not greed for honor?"

"If there is someone who has suffered all his life, then he should thrive for justice.

But not be greedy for anything, as greed is the biggest enemy of our soul" Spirit King told Chiyou

"Greed...

I have heard many stories about gods being greedy for something like power, beauty, immortality, etc - etc, if those gods up in heaven that created this whole world and us mortals, cant escape from greed...

Then how come us mortal can escape from it?"

"Yes, you are right, Even gods cant escape greed, but at least we can try to keep our soul clean, right?

Also, everything is in the hands of fate... who will get what and how much he will get is all predecided by fate"

"Fate?"

"Yes, fate... a destiny that is long decided up in the heavens.

Everything is decided"

"i don't believe in such things called fate

If everything was written or decided already, then what is there need to work so hard for something that will never come or it will eventually come?

Why?"

"Because that is how we all are, even though we know that everything is decided, yet we try to achieve it before it is decided.

We know that we can't get it yet we try to go for it as we think that maybe we can achieve it, and this is greed.

greed to change our fate and that leads to the fall of justice"

Spirit King's words made many people think, but the questions put by Chiyou also made them question if what they think about justice is the same?

Chiyou, didn't agree with the meaning of fate that says that everything in the world is decided already.

He said "I don't believe in this fate, i believe that a man's fate is in his hand.

With his hard work, he can change his fate, no doubt it will take some time but one day he will be able to change his fate.

If you give a sword to a person, it will be up to him whether he decides to take revenge on someone with that sword or just use that sword for his safety.

All it comes down to what one wants to do.

If everything has been decided already, then i want to ask all gods in heaven that why is such a thing made?

What do they all want to achieve from such a thing called fate?

Gods say that to them, everyone is equal in this world, no matter who has done what crime, but if it's true, then what is the meaning of giving one a life full of pain and hardship whereas one a life full of happiness

Are gods trying to go back on their own words?

if there is such a god that can't even keep up his own words, i don't think that he deserves to be even called a god.

He is just someone who is stronger than the rest, that's all"

"Then do you not believe in gods?"

. . .
