**Lauryn**
"LAURYN, LAUUUUUURRRRRRYN!!! Wake up and open the door!"
Saturday used to be my favorite day… that was until I moved back in with Novah. She's like god damn toast out of a toaster; she hops right out of bed all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as soon as her alarm goes off. Not me; I'm like a sloth crawling slowly out of bed after hitting the snooze button 12 times.
"Dammit Novah, shut up!!!" I yell, throwing the covers over my head.
"See, I knew you were awake!"
"Nope, just a figment of your imagination… ugh."
I roll out of bed, walk to the door, unlock it, walk back to the bed, and flop down onto my stomach. Novah quickly comes into my room, squealing, clapping her hands together, and flops down beside me, facing the ceiling.
"Sooooo…." I hear as she walks her fingertips across my back.
"So…. what?"
"SO! What happened with Mister Prez? I saw him walk out the front door right after you did."
I give her an evil giggle,
"Oh my god, Lauryn, what did you do?"
"I might have pulled my gun on him when he was walking up behind me to get to his bike that was parked right next to mine."
Novah slaps her hand to her forehead.
"I swear you give doctors a bad name; you probably made the poor man shit himself," Novah says, causing both of us to start laughing,
"No, actually he didn't seem phased at all and called me Sparky."
"Sparky? Really that's the best he could come up with… we are going to have to work on that one. Can't have people walking around calling my girl Sparky like she's a damn dog or something."
"Um, thank you… I think?"
"Alright, get up, we are going shopping,"
"Why?" I ask with a groan as I lift myself up and climb off the bed.
I see Nova turn away from me and mumble, "I might have worn the last pair of clean jeans last night."
"Okay, so grab a pair of mine,"
"They were yours," Novah says with a big smile, trying to look innocent.
"NOVAH!" I shout, leaning towards the bed, turning my body, and flopping back down on it. Nova comes over, looking down at me.
"I'll buy you an Auntie Ann's pretzel at the mall…" Nova says in a sing-song voice,
"Throw in a Large lemonade, and you got yourself a deal," I say, sticking my hand straight up for her to shake it.
"DEAL!" Novah agrees as she high-fives me and bounces out of my room.
"COULD HAVE AT LEAST HELPED ME UP!" I yell across the house at Novah.
After 4 hours of shopping, Novah is finally buying me the promised Pretzel and Lemonade. I grab my drink off the counter and take a long drag of it through the straw.
"UGH! That's amazing!" I say with a slight moan, closing my eyes and savoring the deliciousness of the cold drink.
"I was beginning to think you were trying to starve me,"
"Oh, don't be so dramatic." Novah snips at me as she walks out of the mall door towards the parking lot.
"Oh, did someone buy her some sassy britches in Vicky Secrets today? "I ask, raising an eyebrow towards and walking through the door right behind her.
She stops, turns on her heels, holding her phone up towards me so fast I almost hit my face on her phone screen.
"Ummmm, is this supposed to mean something to me? "I question, peeking around the phone at her,
"Seriously, Lauryn! Do you ever listen when I speak???" Nova asks, dropping her hand from in front of my face,
"Yes, I listen very well for this reason right here, but in my defense, you didn't do any talking just now. You almost KO'd me with your iPhone; I seriously think I need to get rhinoplasty now from that emotional trauma you just put me through."
I see Novah trying to fight back a smile at my ridiculous rant.
"Wow, and Parents actually trust you doing surgery on their kids!"
"Well, I try to act wisdomous when I'm in front of the grown-ups," I say with a shrug, then take another sip of my drink.
"Oh, wait! That's that dude… from that place from the other day, yeah yeah… I remember now." I sarcastically say, having absolutely no clue who she's talking about.
I can't keep up with her flavors of the month. I'm just trying to avoid the wrath of an irritated Nova. Novah rolls her eyes and started laughing,
"Good try, that's the "dude" that's been speaking to me for the last month trying to get with me, and he just posted a picture of him and his ex kissing... so I guess they aren't ex's anymore."
"Fuck'em" I say, flicking my hand like I'm brushing something out of the way.
"Yeah, easy for you to say… you have men just falling at your feet, and you choose to ignore them." Novah snaps back at me, turns on her heels, and walks off towards the car.
I've learned over the years to pick and choose my battles when it comes to Novah, and that battle isn't one I want to have right now. I just keep my mouth shut, get in the car, and deal with her silent treatment the whole ride home.
Nova whips into the driveway, brings her BMW to a quick halt, we grab our shopping bags and get out. Novah stops in front of me as I walk between our two cars to make my way to the front door.
"It's supposed to rain tonight if you want to ride with me to work instead of riding your bike?"
I smile, knowing that was a Novah apology.
"Sure, I mean, I don't want to cramp your style or anything," I say, teasing her as we start back up to the door, she turns the key, unlocking the door, and we step into the foyer.
Just then, I remember I told Bicycle Boy I would go for pancakes.
"We are going for pancakes after work," I say, making my way towards my room,
"Since when do you go out to eat after work?"
I stop and turn to see a new sparkle in Novah's eyes and a big grin spreading across her face.
"Well… Mister Prez asked me if I wanted to go last night, and I knew I would end up falling asleep at the table, so he said, "Alright, pancakes tomorrow morning then.""
I use a horrible version of how he talks and doing air quotations with my fingers. Novah starts slowly walking towards me as her smile grows even more prominent, beginning to scare me a little.
"Why didn't you tell me this new development this morning?"
"I don't know. I had forgotten about it till you mentioned going to work tonight."
"OH! I'm so glad I bought those denim hotpants today… because we are so showing off your legs tonight."
Oh, this is bad, this is really bad, Novah has now made me her mission, and that means the length of my get-ready time just doubled. She grabs me by the shoulders, spins me around, and starts pushing me towards my room,
"Okay, but I'm still wearing my new Metallica shirt!"
"I don't even know what that means, but if I approve, then okay, you can wear it."
I hear Novah mumble behind me.
"Turn…" Novah says as she sprays me with my Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume.
"NOVAH! Hurry up, or we are going to be late; you've been at this for over 2 hours now." I whine at Nova, who is back in front of the mirror checking her make-up for the 16 millionth time.
"I'm not leaving till you put that red lipstick on,"
Novah puts her hands on her hips and jerks her head towards the tube of lipstick on the counter.
"Ugh FINE, you know I hate the way red looks on me."
I walk in front of the mirror, swipe the lipstick across my lips, and look at myself in the mirror while outlining my top lip. I have to admit the red looks good with this outfit, but I would never let Novah know that. I turn towards her and hold my arms out, questioning her if that's acceptable,
"Now, Gloss it up."
Novah throws a thing of clear lip gloss at me, I put it on, and she gives me an approving nod, turns, and walks into my closet. She brings out my leather jacket with the silver spikes on the shoulders and ends of the sleeves and holds it out towards me.
"I thought you hated this jacket,"
"No, I just hate that you snatched it up before I could." Novah throws over her shoulder as she walks out of my room.
I slide my feet into my new slide-on cheetah print vans, tuck my ID and some cash in my back pocket then walk out too.
Novah meets me at the front door; I open it and motion for her to walk out first.
"Okay, tell me again what Mister Prez said to you!"
"Oh my god, Novah, we have been over this like six times already. He checked out my bike, talked about women wanting to be bikers, Ol' Ladies, and said it was pancake time and asked if I wanted to go."
I ramble off quickly, hoping to satisfy her consistent analyzing over a short innocent conversation, then slide into the front seat of her car.
"Not what y'all talked about, exactly what he said when he asked you out."
"WHOA! He did not ask me out; he asked me to join him for pancakes… big difference there." I tell her while she is backing out of the driveway and drives off.
"See, that's why I need it word for word; gosh, Lauryn help me out here."
"He was just being nice Nov, he wasn't asking me out…"
My sentence was cut short as we pull into the bar parking lot, there are bikers everywhere.
"What the actual fuck!" Novah says when one steps in front of her car, bringing her to a stop as another walks up to her window.
"Evening boys!" she calls in her flirty voice when she rolls down the window.
The leather cut had a big patch that reads "Prospect", letting me know he's trying to patch in. I bump Nova on the shoulder, push open my door and I hear her start to giggle as she settles back into her seat. I step out of the car very slow and dramatically so the wind will catch my hair and make this scene even better. Luckily I had put on my sunglasses when I walked out the house, the only thing missing in this moment is heels or it would have been perfect. I push the door, closing it with more force than necessary, causing every one of the bikers' heads in the parking lot to turn towards me. I put some extra sass in my walk to compensate for the missing heels, making my way around the front of Nova's car and come to a stop in front of the Prospect.
I push my glasses up onto the top of my head, cross my arms and then proceed to look this kid up and down like I'm analyzing him.
"Who are you?"
"Kitten, I'm supposed to be asking you that question."
I turn to peek at Novah who is biting her knuckle to keep from laughing, I raise my eyebrow questioning his little pet name he just called me.
"Oh! the toddler's got jokes,"
I say gesturing towards him with my hand and I see some of the other bikers in the parking lot itching closer so they can hear us talking.
"Again, who are you? You're obviously no one important since you're wearing a very clean prospect patch on that new cut of yours."
I poke the patch on his chest. He chuckles as he crosses his arms across his chest, looks up and then back down at me. I raise my eyebrows at him.
"Jesus Christ I know you're not a mute, just answer the question."
"Names J,"
"Lauryn," I say holding out my hand towards him, he takes it and gives it a light shake.
"That's Novah we are bartenders here,"
I couldn't hold it in anymore, I started giggling and lightly punch him in the shoulder.
"I'm just fucken with ya."
He lets out a chuckle,
"Wow, already busting balls and you haven't even met everyone yet."
"Yeah that's my style you'll get used to it, plus you're a Prospect so i have to give you a hard time."
He gives me a big smile showing off his cute dimples, and nods at me.
"Alright J, I'm going to walk away now, don't make it weird and stare at my butt when i do okay?"
I tell him in a fake serious voice as I point at him. He falls out laughing,
"I won't make you any promises."
I give him a flirty smile, shrug my shoulders and start walking back around the front of Nova's car. I slide down in the front seat and they motion her through. Nova rolls her window back up and starts laughing so hard she has tears in her eyes.
"God I love it when you pull shit like that, reminds me of our college days."
I give her a shrug, as she pulls her car into a parking spot. We both get out… again overly dramatically to give the desired effect. I turn my head, to find Brixton standing not too far from us. The guy next to him swings his arm up hitting Brixton in the chest, bringing him to a stop and looking in the direction his friend is looking.
"Jesus Christ... you've been holding out on me bro."
