Chapter 1 - Prologue: The truth has its own voice!

MARCUS ♥

"Sir, what can you say about Miss San Diego's accusation to you?" Reporters and the crowd flocked at me. Everyone has their own set of questions about what happened. The place seems to be in trouble. People no longer mind the authority shielding me, instead, they continue to come closer, asking me their nonsense questions.

"Is Miss San Diego's claims are true, Mr. Andres?" And here comes another nonsense question from a Reporter who kept on throwing me queries about the matter.

Flashes of cameras are everywhere. I bowed my head. I am the hot topic of the country, that's why reporters flocked here in order to fish some information that they could use to make their stories more interesting.

But I don't want to speak. Just like what this officer beside me has told earlier, I have the right to remain silent. Let my lawyer speak for me.

"Mr. Andres, is it true that the planned Wedding proposal has been called off? What does Miss---?"

"We refuse to answer any of your questions. I will announce my client's statement after we have talked about this," my lawyer butts in.

Even if the reporter did not finish what he is about to say, I totally know what it is. And thinking about it just enraged my sleeping heart more. Just with the thought of my fiancée not marrying me already tears my heart into pieces.

I just hope, she's just upset at the moment because of this issue. I hope, she still believe me. That her affection to me weighs more than this made up story whom that wicked woman had created. I have faith on her, I just hope, she is too, for me.

"What have you done Marcus?" Father started to pace back and forth in front of me. He looked so stress compare to the previous days he dealt in the company's matter.

"You're nothing but a shame! You should have been more careful of your actions and think of our Family's reputation! What now? You have stained this Family's image that your forefathers had hardly built." His voice thundered in the visiting area of the jail. He even brushed his palms on his face before heaving a mouthful sigh.

He stops. "Look at the news about you!" He tossed some pages of newspaper at the table.

I glance at it. "Rapist!" "A pedophile bachelor." and so on. Those are some of the words written on the newspaper that talks about me.

I heaves a sigh of frustration. How will I be able to clear my name to the public when no one's believing me? Not even my family and not even the love of my life. God knows how painful that is.

"I never did it Papa." My voice is low. I have had enough thinking about this matter. And honestly, I no longer know what to do. I'm losing the only thin line of hope that keeps me going. This feels like, it's me against the world.

I know, voicing out my side ain't enough to convince him of the truth. He might not believe me too, but I just wanted to give it a try. Hopefully, this time, I could have someone to believe me.

"You kept on saying that! Marcus, how can you be able to clear your name if the issue had been fueled more?"

My forehead creased as I look up to him.

What does he mean?

He heaves a sigh. "She's pregnant!"

"What?" I stood up in shock. She can't be! I-i mean... How?

"You heard me, Marcus! She's pregnant! She announced it to public yesterday's late afternoon! What have you done? You know she's a minor. Why did you lust over---"

"I did not!" I stopped him. "I told you, I did not!" I shouted. "We are not lovers! I did not touched her!"

My knees suddenly tremble. I sat in the chair exhaustedly, trying to process my Father's mind wrecking information about this case, but my mind is off. I can't easily digest what he just told me. Or more likely, perhaps my mind is refusing to understand it, because there is no truth in it.

What is she up to? What does she want? Why is she resorting in this method? What play is she trying to stage? What is her motive?

Questions after questions run inside my head but no answer had come up. I'm confused too.

Why this has to be happen?

"How can we able to prove that, then?" Father asked calmly, now sitting in a chair across mine.

I closed my eyes and shook my head. "I don't know. But one thing is for sure..." I opened my eyes and bravely meet his tired and confused gaze.

"Papa," I hold his hand, placed atop the table between us.  "the truth has its own voice."
