Chapter 2 - The Lake of Xvi

"Angelo Xavi, male, age 22. Brown hair, 70kg, 180cm in height. Missing."

A middle-aged policeman stared intently at the lake.

"According to the files, at 20:00, Angelo was seen at the roadway going to this lake, the only touristic place in the region..."

"Yes sir. We've interviewed every person who lives nearby and the accounts are all very similar." A younger policeman trailing before he responded.

"What about his background?" The middle-aged man asked, lighting up a cigarette.

"Angelo lived in a family of three. His father, Alex Xavi, was an engineer for the federal while his mother, Jenna Poteen, was a loving housewife. At the age of four, due to what is speculated to an iron that failed to stop properly, he lost both his parents. Due to the previous revolution, his grandparents also went missing and so, he was put under the charge of the state orphanage. No criminal records, no cases of drugs, have instances of alcohol. His friends describe him as a caring person and an exemplary citizen of the nation. Overall, he is clean."

"Huh, so no possibility of gang collusion? It seems unlikely that these gangs would go so far as to drive here to do their business." The middle-aged man took another puff.

Then a group of paramedics rushed here urgently.

"Get out of the way. He is in need of medical help!" A paramedic shoved the two policemen aside as they put the man on the stretcher in the vehicle.

"Wait, isn't it Angelo?" The middle-aged policeman was surprised and stopped one of the paramedics. "Where did you find him?"

"Can't you see we're in a hurry?" The aidman immediately snapped but seeing that they were the policemen who were working with them, he relaxed: "Yes, it's indeed Angelo. We've found him at the bottom of the lake."

After answering the policeman's question, he sprinted out and joined his team as they began boarding the ambulance and it rolled away.

"..." Silence filled the place as the policemen stared blankly at the disappearing ambulance.

"Didn't we probe the lake first?" The middle-aged man broke the silence first.

"Hum. I think so. I don't really, it's the technicians' job." The younger policeman replied.

"Let's close the case." The man finally declared, "No, let it disappear in the vast papers held in the police station. Let's go, let's find another case."

"Yes." The other nodded.

Nobody would see, nobody would ask, nobody would know. It's as if it never existed.

Case closed.

Angelo opened his eyes and looked at the white ceiling above.

Strange symbols floated in the air and strange murmurs could be heard coming from nowhere.

"So this is H̵̗̖̙̯̔̉̏͛̑̂u̵̡̹̘̫̫͕͉̫͉̻̳̒̊̑̿̅̈̅̉̚̚͜͝͝m̴͙̯̙̥̻̩̠̗̮̱̦̂͆̄̈́͊̾̽͐ȧ̷̧̪̩̟͓̳̟̠͂̅̌͊͜n̶̩̈̂ĭ̴̡̡̖̱̻̮͚͔̞̓͜͜ͅt̴̢̢̧̹̗͕̤͉̒̍̂̾̎̎̃̂̿͝y̷͇̼͎̯͉̥̣̑̆̾͋͛̓͝." He muttered under his breath, "I've been R̷͗͜e̷̛̗ḅ̷̛ó̷̪r̸̞͑n̷̝̿ !"

Clenching his fist up to the air, he silently chanted in his heart: The Lord is almighty. His presence is boundless like the sea of stars.

He was neither Angelo nor the Great Old One residing in another dimension, he was Angelo, an Aspect of the Great Old One!

As a mix between Angelo and the Great Old One, he inherited the Humanity of Angelo and the bizarre nature of the Great Old One. To comprehend the thoughts of inferior beings, one must become an inferior being. This Aspect of this incomprehensible being was as such a human who cannot comprehend its original body's knowledge.

"First, I must build a shrine under Its Name and attract tourists to this location. My Lord needs to recover Its strength!"

"Are you okay? You need to rest now." A nurse opened the door and went in with a caring expression.

"Yes," Angelo responded with a very wide smile, almost as if a monster's mind inhabited this man's body.
