"It's not me I promise!" I frantically shouted as I resisted the urge to cry as my head went and thought of any possible item that could help me in the situation.
That's when my hand shivers as I slowly try to get a gun from my holster.
"Don't you dare!" she smacked my hand and held it tightly without remorse. "Where is he?!" she started gritting her teeth as she aggressively shouted in my right ear.
Who is 'he'? I'm going crazy from all the pain across my body. I don't even know what's happening anymore as I felt dizzy and out of breath.
"What are you talking about?" I replied gasping for air as I got intensely nervous.
She started shouting more things but I couldn't get all of it as I was panicking when it was getting difficult to breathe through her pinning me.
She's crazy! I was just sent to fetch you! And it'll end up in me dying?! Oh, how lucky of me!
While the commotion was happening, someone abruptly spoke through the transmitters. "She's here with me," I helplessly say but I don't think she heard it. "Captain Rei, my earpiece," I tried to grab her attention and she hurriedly snatched away my device to plug it into hers.
"Who're you calling a rascal?" she demanded answers as her knife and her hold loosened. I took the opportunity to break free.
I crawled far away from her as I massaged my neck while I calmed down and watched her progressively worsen her personality. I breathed fresh oxygen again as I embraced the fact that I survived.
That was one of the scariest things that have happened in my entire life.
I looked at her with teary eyes, sweaty palms, and a choking anxiety.
She apologized with a soft gaze that made me rethink my first impression of her. "I'd appreciate it if forgot everything that happened," then her expression changed to a straight, and her eyes were bloodshot looking directly at me as she slowly stood up and picked up her knife.
I spoke too soon.
I take back my judgment!
"Yes, Ma'am" I whimpered as she didn't break her stare, waiting for my answer before she opened the door and held it until both of us were out of that gloomy room.
She froze on the way and looked back at me, she sighed and gestured for me to lead the way with her hand. I didn't hesitate and quickly tip-toed in front of her as she soon followed my lead.
As we were heading back to where I was ordered to take her, awaited a silent and awkward space. I was behaving to not get on her bad side. But it was killing me so I decided to finish it.
"Would you mind if I asked why you were passed out in the middle of a room?" I was hesitant to ask as I held my breath until I heard her answer.
"..." She was not amused and seemed not to want to end this current atmosphere.
But after a few more steps, "Lack of sleep, I guess" she answered, sighing. Not trying to hide that it was just all made up, but I couldn't care less if she didn't want to share.
"You must've been so exhausted to experience that," I tried to humor her excuse as my eyes scanned bits and pieces of the place.
I didn't notice how run down the corridors were. The tiles are all broken, water dripping here and there, and not to mention some horrifying smell from dead critters and small animals.
"I guess I was," she replied after a long pause.
Our every step echoes through these empty halls as we finally get closer to our destination.
"You're finally here!" some high-ranking officer greeted her with a wide smile but with a pissed-off expression.
"Buzz off, it's so huge I got lost" she replied slapping the hand of the high-ranking officer when he was about to pat her shoulders. And without even apologizing for upholding the allotted time that they'll rendevous.
"Eeek!" I silently watched the ordeal as Captain Rei talked to some respected man with disrespectful manners.
She's out of her mind.
"Let's get going," the officer demanded in a tone that didn't have a choice but to tolerate her attitude. "Oh!" he saw me still awaiting a new order, if there was some.
"Good work, you can go back to your post now," he said and didn't take a second look at my lowly self as I saluted when they walked away.
And as I was about to turn away too, I caught her staring at me intently as she was following him.
That was a message, to keep quiet about what had happened.
A glare that warns me not to try her, or else.
I gulped and couldn't take my eyes off of her piercing and deadly warnings as I saw them teleport back.
My colleagues saw me stuck in a place so they rushed to my side to make fun of my first-ever experience of interacting with the "Reaper's" one and only leader.
And one word was enough to make them entertained. "Lunatic," I said and walked with them to another order.
If I could, I don't ever want to involve myself with her again.
