Ray stared down at the four men who lay on the ground, whimpering as if their lives depended on it.
"Kek, trash!" He scoffed and walked into the building to attend the press conference, leaving the pitiful four on the ground.
"Hum hum."
Ray felt quite good today, he didn't know why but he felt satisfaction from beating up those guys from earlier.
'I should go out more often.'
another problem arose when he'd entered the building.
"Uh, which set are they filming it in?"
Unlike the problem that came with finding this place, he could not solve this one by guessing and so, he had to open up the doors to every set until he found the right one.
But, his laziness prevented him from doing so.
Whirr
"Hehe, this is what the drones are for!" Ray turned his combat drones into scout drones and had them scour all the rooms at super-fast speeds until they found the interview room.
After ten minutes, the drones finally found the interview set and had them lead him to the room.
Ray ran to the room but after running for a few minutes, he found that the room was still so far away.
'Shit, why is this room so far away?'
[Hehe, spatial magic, smartass. Break it with your skills.] The system mocked carefreely.
'How to do so?'
[You have the Aero-Mechanical Physiology, which means you can control air and air plays a major role in spatial magic. To put it simply, just tear a hole through the air and you'll get to where you want, haha what a fool.]
He said the last part quietly, but Ray heard what he said, it was in his mind of course.
Ray looked at his status and tried to think of a way to get around this task.
'Uh, maybe if I say some cool words?'
He pushed his hand into the air and hoped something would happen.
"Almighty Push!"
'Heh, it didn't work.'
Completely ignoring the people looking at him weirdly, Ray kept thinking of more ways to go about it.
'I don't get this 'physiology' thing, with my other skills, all I did was think of their names and they activated easily, so what makes this so different?'
[Sigh, you're so dumb. Those skills were part of your mind, these are different since they originate from your body, not your mind, so feel them, not think them.]
Disregarding the fact that the system was unnaturally helpful today, he tried to do what he was told and focused on his body.
Hot blood coursed through his veins and it felt like a few circuits opened, like within a robot. He felt and 'saw' more clear now, the air was like his eye, granting him near omnipotence.
'I think... I can feel it now.'
Ray held out his hand and harnessed the power flowing around it.
"Hah!"
He yelled and pushed out his held out hand.
The air tore asunder and opened up a pathway enabling him to reach the interview room.
"Haha, being invincible is too awesome!"
He yelled out joyfully and stepped out of the air vacuum
"Hey, how did you get here?! We restricted this room for today!"
A cameraman yelled, surprised at his appearing out of nowhere.
"Hey, bro chill, I'm here for the interview," Ray held out his hands in surrender and explained his reason for entering the room through a very "normal" air vacuum.
"Huh, this interview is for Machine lord, why would you be here for it?" The cameraman asked suspiciously, hoping Ray would not try anything.
"Are you guys fucking blind? My goddamn red hair, and my awesome demeanour, I'm obviously the Machine Lord!"
The cameraman looked Ray up and down and expressed his doubt plainly.
"Really? I don't think the Machine Lord would look and act like you."
"Hehe, it's up to you to believe what you think. Anyway, where are the reporters and stuff?" Ray shrugged and looked around the empty set.
"Oh, they already moved to another room, I'm just in charge of bringing the rest of the equipment to that room." The cameraman looked at him oddly and spoke, wondering why he shouldn't know this if he was the Machine Lord.
"Sigh, fuck me! Where's this room?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"Because I'm Machine Lord, for fuck's sake!" Ray yelled exasperatedly.
"Prove it!"
Ray sighed irritatedly and pulled up his mask.
"Sigh, look at this, check out my face, is it familiar or not?!"
The cameraman's eyes widened, and he hurriedly dropped everything he was holding to bow down to Ray; this was the unwritten law of the apocalypse, respect the strong, or die. Their way or the highway.
"I apologize for my insolence, please forgive me Machine Lord."
"Whatever, just tell me where the room is." Ray looked down on the cameraman, unsurprised at the sudden behaviour change.
'Hehe, who said Chinese novels didn't come in handy, they've thought such valuable life skills!' The cameraman thought to himself and got up to show Ray to the interview room, all the while, sucking up to him.
"Humph, weirdo."
Just as they reached the doors of the interview room, Ray pulled down his mask and summoned an overbearing aura.
The cameraman next to him didn't even understand what happened when he felt the air surrounding Ray being more difficult to breathe in.
'Okay, I got this.' He gathered all the courage he had in him and opened the set's door.
His tall figure stunned the reporters and cameramen who were preparing for the interview with him, they didn't feel it at first, but the moment he stepped into the room the air felt suffocating and hard to breathe in.
"Let us start this thing already!" Ray yelled loudly in a show of arrogance.
The journalists and other people grew flustered and hurried to finish the preparations.
'Hehe, I should win an Oscar.' Ray thought to himself and mental-rubbed his nose.
Ray walked over to a chair situated in the middle of the room, (one which was obviously for him) and sat on it, but once he found that the work of the crew wasn't becoming any faster he tapped his feet against the floor impatiently.
... Well, that was what they thought, but he wasn't ever going to tell that he was faking it.
A crew member rushed over to him and offered to get him anything.
'Haha if I knew I could command such respect I would have come out of the house a lot sooner!'
A female reporter who sat on the chair next to him sent the scared man away
Her facial features were not bad; having a round face that perfectly matched the shape of her eyes. She had dark-brown hair that turned light at some point and striking forest-green eyes.
She smiled at him warmly, not those fake reporter smiles that he'd normally see on TV, but she smiled at him warmly. Almost like, he was not someone she was going to interview in a few minutes.
"We're live in ten minutes!" The director of the news programme yelled out and hounded the crew to move towards their respective positions.
"We're live in two minutes!"
Time moved fast that day; like it was impatient.
"We're live in sixty seconds!"
And before he knew it, something he never imagined a few months back, happened to him.
"We're live in ten seconds!"
Sweat dripped down his back, and chills ran across his neck. Nervousness seeped into his body slowly and before he knew it, time had passed.
"We're live in five... four... three... two... one!"
The countdown was over, and it was time for Ray to show himself to the world.
