Belphegor could not believe himself,
Running from, and fighting his own friends.
But because of his lack of summons, and his deprivation of energy,
Even a mere monster, could defeat him easily.
He felt his heart sink,
Afraid that he would fail him.
Recalling the sadness and pain in the seer's eyes,
He could not help but reminisce.
From the death of Luna, to what he had done after that,
To the angels he killed in cold blood.
He must have been, truly young in maturity,
To not have understand, what it meant to live.
He felt that everything was unfair to him,
When life itself, isn't filled with wins.
Now admitting that Ken was right all along,
Broke the nightmare demon more.
He had...truly became someone he loathed.
One of the reasons why people continue to lose their loved ones.
One of the reasons for the war that took countless of lives.
He was the god he hated.
He was the god Luna would not have wanted.
How heavily he blamed God for being selfish and arrogant,
Without knowing he was describing himself all this time.
Selfish for choosing what's best for the world,
Arrogant for not acknowledging his wrongs.
What a truly pitiful turn.
He was depressed, but it wasn't a valid reason to cause a bigger mess.
He was so blinded by pride and anger that he forgot everything else.
That was until, he was spared.
That he realized the true meaning to live, and to forgive.
To let go of the past, and help mend the future.
And even if Ken still had wrath in his eyes,
He chose a risky path.
To let someone like him, live.
To trust an enemy.
And ironically, he was easily moved.
How can someone he belittled,
showed that much compassion?
And thus, why he ended in this act.
Aiming to get someone else's lover back.
Belphegor never thought he'd desperately try to save a human,
A human he barely knows at that.
And yet, he felt that it would be his redemption,
If he was able to have her returned.
How powerful, truly was the influence of Lucifer,
Making him stay that long, never questioning further.
But for someone who served him for billions of years,
It was truly a shock, even for him,
To have changed in a whim.
But the feeling in his chest could not be fully explained.
It's not just that he owed Ken.
It was as if he was hearing Luna again,
Whispering to him, that it's his time to change.
And thus, even if it hurts him to imagine Lucifer gone,
It would be far better,
Than dragging more angels down.
He knew...Belphegor always knew Lucifer was aiming for a hopeless dream,
But because of the hate in his heart,
Blindly followed him.
How silly had he been.
To choose revenge and trample the weak.
But now, now that he push his former allies away,
Now that he plan to bend his ways,
He hoped he would truly feel the happiness he longed for years,
The closure, the comfort, he could not get, even as he sleeps.
Just thinking of feeling those emotions made Belphegor smile,
It was a dream, that could be grasped in time.
Those thoughts however, were disturbed.
Once he was tackled by a hungry monster.
Belphegor tried to push it away,
But the monster was too persistent, so it stayed.
Belphegor wondered if it was his fate,
To die an unclimatic death,
to be a mere food on a plate.
But before he could stop and give up on struggling,
He felt something jump on the monster,
that caused it to shriek in pain.
It was so loud, that he wanted to cover his ears,
No matter how comforting the save is.
The monster soon let Belphegor go,
As it then uncomfortably tried to reach its back.
When the blue-haired demon tried to take a better look,
He was met with utter shock.
Beelzebub had also switched sides.
.
.
.
Beelzebub ate the monster's nape,
And dodged the trying hands, that aimed to get him away.
Like a fly, he manages to avoid being reached,
And just comes back to the place he had once been.
Soon, the monster collapsed from blood loss,
And Beelzebub continued to feast forth.
His orange eyes turned white in pure hunger,
Not even bothering to say nothing more.
Pity enveloped Belphegor's chest,
Seeing how Beelzebub was reduced compared to the rest.
He looked like a dog, eating scraps and remains,
On fours, filled with blood,
Focus only on what's slained.
Belphegor dropped to his knees,
Knowing he had done nothing to stop this.
This saddening sight of a bright angel reduced to an animal,
That knows nothing but to hunt.
He had now accepted the fact that he had helped no one,
Not Beelzebub, not himself.
In an attempt to find the quickest source of comfort,
He embraced the brother he loved the most.
Beelzebub stopped chewing when he felt the warmth envelop him,
And was calmed after he heard Belphegor singing.
The frustrated demon then hugged Belphegor in turn,
"If I save humans, would I no longer have my curse?"
Belphegor could not answer.
"Belphegor. I smell that you are weak.
Extract my nightmares, and you'd be of great help."
"Even with nightmares, I cannot detect the woman I am looking for."
"Who is it? I can figure it out if I have a sample."
Belphegor then tried to explain,
That it was the seer's lover, he needed to save.
Soon, Beelzebub spotted Sellena amongst the crowd,
And told him that she may have a clue, where she went away.
...
Martha and Joseph struggled to keep the huge monster down,
It continued to heal itself, and they had no choice but to dodge.
It was too risky to come closer and take a sure hit,
Since it would sure be the end of them,
if ever they missed.
Joseph's severed hands, which were replaced by blades,
Continued to block the incoming rays.
The monster, seemed like it was mixed with angelic DNA,
Able to cast its own barrier, and burning rays.
The fact pissed Joseph grately,
It may be slow, but was also wary.
More so, it was merciless, and had no empathy,
Eating his fellow monsters,
Whenever he wanted to be replenished.
"This fight sucks.
Why do I always find myself in tricky situations?
Tsk, maybe the saying is right,
There's a twin that always get into trouble."
Martha could not comment however,
As she could still not hear, and was rather focused.
She tried to attack, but logic warned her,
And thus she could only grip her sword,
Praying it won't come closer.
If only she could hear,
Joseph's loud prayers.
The angel's legs shook at the nearing monster,
Who was walking in a slow fashion for purpose.
It was mocking them, showing off he was far superior,
Which shows he isn't just a hungry monster.
It knows that he'd win either way.
Even if they fought, or stayed.
Such fact had filled it's pride so much,
That it was willing to play with his food,
He'd have no matter what.
"Stay back! You ugly freak!"
Joseph tried to warn,
As he shiver in fear.
"That's it! I'm calling my sist-"
"No need to call, I'm here over."
Joseph's eyes twinkled when he heard the voice.
Followed by the footsteps of Belphegor.
His jaw dropped in disbelief,
"That demon lord??? Is...is no longer an enemy?!!"
"Shut up, and quit whining Joseph.
You're supposed to be protecting, not protected."
"Tsk, as if you can say that when you're facing that abomination.
It even ate its brothers."
"What can you expect from monsters?
Anyways, bring the survivors over.
Beelzebub is waiting on the hallway,
He had already cleared the path by eating the demons that get in the way."
"Beelzebub too!?? Are you sure I'm not dreaming???"
"Are you sure you're a soldier of God? For goodness sake, you're too childish.
C'mon, we have to time to-"
But the monster jumped to reach them,
Fully losing composure and was threatened they'd escape.
An equally large monster of black however,
Tackled the approaching monster.
Belphegor looked at the others,
And urged them all to go.
"Are you sure you can handle that thing?"
"Forget me, and save the other women.
There's plenty of rooms and passages in the arena,
I'm sure there's more of them than what's with Martha."
"But aren't those monsters temporary?"
"They are, but so long as Beelzebub is alive,
My summons will be effective.
They'd hold on for a long time."
Zeharah nodded and patted Belphegor's back,
"Thank you. And make sure you come out alive."
The kind words softened the demon's heart,
But did not spoke more and simply smiled.
Zeharah then had his brother and Martha aid the current-found survivors to their safety towers.
As she, now look for the others.
She was shocked when she saw a black shadow-like panther followed.
And turned at Belphegor who was now far away,
And understood the gesture.
"He wanted me to have extra protection."
She felt extra determined to save and bring victims to safety,
While the panther scans the area,
Watching out for enemies.
...
Belphegor felt relieved when Zeharah left the most dangerous zone,
And felt quite flustered, as he recalled her features.
She was had a striking resemblance to Luna,
Except for her braided hairstyle.
His daydreaming was soon shattered by the monster's howling.
And thought it hated having his food shared,
Still wanted to win nonetheless.
A dozen more monsters came out of the cage,
Breaking the metal in rage.
Belphegor do not know what the huge monster told them,
But by the looks of it,
They wanted him dead.
And with no available person for him to extract nightmares from,
He decided to break his rule,
And did it to himself.
