Gabby was scrolling through her phone on the way to work when suddenly her phone sparks and shuts down unexpectedly.
She panicked, not knowing what could have been the cause of the phone's sudden behaviour. She tried to open it again, but it won't open up.
She sweats and felt bad. It was the first time something like this happened. It was confusing too, her phone usually is functioning right.
HARRY: Yo, what's the matter?
GABBY: Harry, not now...I don't want others to think I'm crazy.
HARRY: Well...I'm just slightly concerned. Your face...your face looks kinda upset.
GABBY: Nothing...I...nothing.
...
The same odd experience happened when she was animating. The big screen suddenly blacks out after a spark.
Gabby knew this was too much for a coincidence since the other gadgets her friends and co-workers are using, are all fine. But why not hers?
TIWARI: Yo, get her a new one-
GABBY: I...uh, need to go to the bathroom..I...I'm so sorry.
TIWARI: Hey, cheer up, it's not like it's your fault.
JERICO: Yeah, it may be because it's kinda old and-
GABBY: Excuse me, first...
Harry makes a confused look and checks her out. But she look frightened.
HARRY: Oi, you-
GABBY: Not now.
Her tone was not that sweet pitch. It was deeper. Much more serious.
She passes the light switch on the way to the door and much much worse for her already anxiety-filled self, it sparked once again and boom! Everything was covered in darkness.
TIWARI: Damn...this place is broken.
FINN: OI, W-where are you guys at?
TIWARI: I can't believe you're such a coward. We're literally here. It's not like we disappeared.
JERICO: *sighs* What is happening?
ANNE: Oi, let's just use our phones.
As everyone packed their things and walks off without panicking, and without furthermore questioning the situation, Gabby was almost stone still. Not quite sure if all of these are something to be calm about.
GABBY: I...I...
FINN: Oi, Gabby, what's the matter?
TIWARI: Come here with me. Don't be so afraid.
She holds her hand firmly and walks away. While Harry looks behind, confused as well.
For one, he was sure it's not some spirit or demon, as he can't see one roaming about.
But whatever it is, he was sure it wasn't just some technical issue.
Trying to relieve herself from the stress, she decided to shop some cake and candles. As well as order some food for Red's Spring Birthday. She may not be sure of when the Red Reaper's true birthday was, but she atleast wanted to give him a thank you gift before they part ways.
Harry however, was not much excited as he was very much opposed to the idea of Gabby still shopping for goods. She smells like Red, he thinks, and that itself is a danger.
HARRY: H-hey, how...how many cakes are you going to look at? Red is a simple guy, girl...just pick a chocolate cake and we're okay.
Gabby turns toward Harry, who looks sincerely filled with worry.
GABBY: Ah, okay then. I'll buy this one then and we'll go.
Gabby smiles as Harry breathes in relief.
HARRY: This is so nerve-racking. You never know when he'll attack...
GABBY: Mmm.
She looks at her phone again and it's still in a bad state. Since she doesn't have enough money with her to buy a new one, she decided that it's a problem for tomorrow.
Gabby heads back home, then plugged her phone on the nearest socket. She then discovered that the 98% phone turned to zero. Just what happened?
Preparing the make be-birthday, she distracts herself completely. But then Red comes home rather sooner than expected.
Gabby squeeked at Red's presence, and the guy only gave a confused look.
Harry however, was giving no care in the world. Sleeping as a cat, curled up in a ball.
Gabby would have asked Red of why he came back so early, and without Humility too, but after seeing the shaking dog, she knew what was up.
RED: Yeah. Storm didn't like it so much. So I brought him here.
GABBY: Are you staying?
RED: Heh. Well...I...I'm originally gonna head back super soon but...I can't say no, can't I?
GABBY: I...yeah. Heheh. By the way...I already got the cake ready.
RED: Oh, well...that's so thoughtful of you.
Red puts down the lab, which quickly sprinted towards the sleeping Harry.
HARRY: Ow fawk! What the hell!
Harry transformed back quickly to his old form, afraid to get bitten by the labrador, now no longer the small puppy he once were.
STORM: Arf! Arf!
It barked as its tail wagged in quick speed.
HARRY: Pff, whatever...I'm leaving now. He's kinda scary.
Harry vanishes while the dog whimpered in disappointment.
Red smiled awkwardly, as Gabby cupped the dog's cheeks.
GABBY: Don't listen to Harry, you're a good boy.
STORM: Arf! Arf!
After Storm was calm enough, Gabby resumed talking to Red. Until she noticed that maybe it's the right time to give him her gift.
GABBY: She tried to match a candle aflame, but everytime she puts the match on the candle, it would simple blow off.
Red snickers at Gabby's many failed attempts, and suddenly turning concerned, he stops her 7th attempt and gave the candle his own flame.
RED: Ta-dah!
GABBY: I...uh, then you...you close your eyes and make a wish. Then blow the candle.
RED: Yeah, I know that.
GABBY: Oh. Sorry, heheh.
Red closes his eyes, and was starting to wish.
But he wondered what he could have possibly wish for.
Since...every wish in his mind...he knows were too far to ever come true.
But, not wanting the opportunity to go to waste, he simply wished that Gabby finds true love.
He opened his eyes, and was more than startled to see Gabby leaning in, eyes closed and by the looks of it, attempting to kiss him.
He was so shocked that he quickly backed off, while Gabby falls without support and the two of them fell together. Gabby forced to fall on his chest.
RED: What was that?! Holy crap!? Are you out of your mind??!
Gabby soon realized her mistake. Red was so eager not to kiss her. She instantly felt ashamed for taking advantage of the moment and stands up quickly, not sure if she could ever look at Red again.
Still, not looking at him, she apologizes in a hushed soft voice, "I'm so sorry,"
Red's angry eyes suddenly calms down. He was just confused and a little angry. Angry because he thinks it's unfair to make him miss her more.
RED: I...don't want to be the guy that gets your...your affection when there's a lot you could choose from. You have no future with me. I kept telling you that.
GABBY: I'm sorry...I just...you...you never experienced a kiss before, right?
RED: Not because I didn't means that you should freely give it to me. If other guys beg for your kiss, well, I'm not that guy. I don't want to use you, I genuinely want you to be happy. You know that I won't be staying long, and I...I appreciate your kindness, your thoughtfulness and your...your love, okay? But...you...you don't deserve to give your love to me since...you won't truly be happy with someone like me.
GABBY: I...I am very sorry. I'm just so...I..I actually don't know anymore. I mean...I really don't see myself around anyone. I was hoping we could make it work despite everything and-
RED: I'm sorry. My confession is all I could give you. Tomorrow, I'm gone. From your life. And it's staying that way. If you want, Humility can erase your memories so it wouldn't hurt-
GABBY: No! Please! Let me keep these if I can't keep you! Don't leave me with nothing!
Red looked away, not wanting to look at her watery eyes any further. He felt his chest tighten...he feels...guilty all of a sudden.
RED: Look, I'm sorry. You shouldn't have...met me. You shouldn't have...
Storm walks towards Red, rubbings his body on his master as Gabby tries her best to contain her tears.
RED: Storm...be a good boy and look out for her, alright?
Red then walks up to Gabby, who was still feeling rather hurt.
GABBY: I'm sorry...you...you don't have to cheer me up or be sorry for me. It's my own fault for being a fool. I'm still convincing myself that somehow we could work. Hah, talk about watching too many anime shows.
She tried to laugh, but Red knew better. She was just faking them.
RED: Don't cry or you'll age faster.
GABBY: Let me mourn for you at least...you know? I mean...I'm losing the love of my life and there's nothing I could do about it. You won't even let me kiss you.
RED: Well, If I would, you might never move on.
GABBY: Well, that's my idea!
RED: How foolish.
Red pulls her into a tight embrace. And at that moment, Gabby's tears fell. She cried loudly, not giving a care in the world, just burying her face on Red's shoulder. Wishing that the world would be still. But it was a wish too far to come true.
RED: Just promise me you'll find love...
