Before I dropped by the Chen Manor, I reported to the police station to inform them of everything and submit the investigation. I was willing to cooperate with them and stay in a cell while they confirm my claims (which involved visiting the Five Elements Temple and taking statements from the witnesses as well as checking the site of the murders).
To my surprise, they let me go.
"We know what happened," the superintendent told me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "And the Chen family wants to deal with you themselves. They don't place the law in their eyes at all. They want to murder you as revenge for your son, regardless of whether you acted in self-defense or not."
"The fuck…" I threw my hands up in exasperation. "And you guys just let them run afoul of the law? How is that fair?"
