I watched the place warily as we proceeded along the super long walkway that extended for what seemed like miles.
"The patriarch will want to meet you," Luo Hou explained as he led the entire group down the sheltered path through the courtyard. While there was a roof on top, the sides were largely exposed, allowing us to admire the beauty of the garden on both sides. The path resembled a pavilion. Well, it was probably part of a pavilion.
"No wonder he took so long to answer the door," Jian Hu whispered, looking around in awe. "This damned pavilion stretches forever."
"It does feel like we've been walking forever now." Zhang Qian Long muttered impatiently. "Where is the main house?"
That was a good question. Even though we had been wandering along the corridor for quite some time now, there was no sign of the main house anywhere. As much as I looked in front, it looked as if it was an endless sheltered pathway.
