"We have confirmed the location of Luo Yu's body," the senior student said when Su Yan and the others arrived. Qi Xing showed up shortly after, his face grave, and glowered at the traitor. Luo Yu's corpse was scorched almost beyond recognition, his clothes burned away and most of his skin blackened. They could barely tell that the cadaver belonged to Luo Yu. The main clue was the dissipating qi from his body, which contained the unique qi signature for every individual.
"The traitor got more than he deserved," Qi Xing hissed.
"What about Student Shu Cong?" Su Yan asked, unwilling to waste time glaring at the dead. The living was his concerned. Or at least he believed that his student was still alive. He had to be. Qi Xing refused to believe anything else.
"We…couldn't find him."
The senior student slumped, lowering his head in shame. Su Yan placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and gave him an encouraging squeeze.
"You did your best. Don't blame yourself."
