Chereads / The Magic Mercenary / Chapter 27 - Stella (1)

Chapter 27 - Stella (1)

'Sunia' walked past Nathan and sat on his bed without acting modestly. She had no shame entering this boy's room and acting like it was her own.

Nathan closed the door behind her and stared at the girl wordlessly. She did the same. This continued since neither wanted to be the first one to break.

It was actually Nathan who was the first one to break in that situation. He preferred to get straight to the point in conversations and did not like beating around the bush.

"So you're alive as well. It is good to see you alive and well again, Sunia."

The girl had a small smile on her face due to her victory and let out a cheeky laugh for a moment before responding to Nathan.

"Hmm. It is good to see you too, Jalim. But I am no longer Sunia just as you are no longer Jalim. My new name is Stella.

Tell about your life and what trouble you have been getting into."

Nathan knew that he would have to start calling her by the new name she had but it would not be a more issue for him.

No matter what her name was, she would always be the same girl/woman he fought alongside and grew up with.

Nathan shared with her all of the things that had happened in his new life as well as his family background.

He told her about his training over the years, the new abilities he discovered with Berus, and some of his adventurers when he traveled with his mother for work.

He had even informed her about his ties to the Guri family and how his mother was one of the most powerful in it.

Stella also shared her history and family details. In this world, she was 15 years old which meant she was 1 year older than Nathan.

She was born into the royal family so her full name was Stella Zallu. She was the 3rd child of the current king.

Stella's family knew about the order so it was no secret about the Guri clan to her and they actually hired them the most for missions within the country as well as dealing with potential threats.

Stella had awakened her magical talent when she was 4, the same age as Nathan and there was a large celebration for her.

Her results were:

[

Core Type: Mana

Grade: Cube

Innate Spell: Hell-ThunderFlame Missiles

]

With her magical talent and innate spell, she was nicknamed the 'Storm Ifrit'.

Stella had inherited the public secret of the djinn. Djinn were descendants of magical creatures whose bloodline was diluted.

Those with especially pure bloodlines would inherit spells that were unique to them.

In fact, her results and talent were so good that both of her older siblings' mothers felt threatened and tried to assassinate her several times.

It was only after Stella had publicly declared that she would never attempt to inherit the throne and swore it in the church at the age of 7, did the attempts stop.

She was pretty much raised by the Royal Magus Division and the Magus Association. For years, she learned from the best how to use her magic properly and to a high degree but was limited to low-tier spells due to her age.

When she turned 14, she joined the Imperial Academy in order to leave her family and have a break where she could be herself without worrying about her identity.

During the 1 year that she had been there, she had become the undisputed number 1 among her year in the entire empire. In fact, during her first month of school, she had beaten several 2nd-year mages and their mystics.

Now that she was going into her second year, it was rumored that no one besides the teachers could beat her.

Nathan was not surprised by this though. With her natural talent, she was definitely superior to most magus her age.

And with their Sulian Esper ability, the pair were pretty much unstoppable against anyone in a one on one or even two on one battle as long as their battle prowess was similar.

Stella spoke up to there before a gleam entered her eyes. She looked at Nathan's body up and down before looking at the sword on his back.

"Let's to a test battle. If you are from the Guri clan, even an outer member, you must have learned a lot from your aunt and mother. I wanna see just how strong you've gotten in the years since I have seen you."

Nathan immediately agreed to the idea. Not only was he curious about fighting someone near his power level due to wanting to test out his true strength, but he was also tired of getting curb stomped by his mother.

Nathan grabbed his sword and followed Stella out of the room as they made their way to the public battle arena.

They passed by many people and did not try to hide what they were doing so by the time they had arrived, a crowd had formed.

These were new students who had never seen combat before, nobles who were curious about one of the top members of the 1st years and the top member of the 2nd year, while the adults were there to see how much the Storm Ifrit had improved.

The pair stood on the training stage and stared at each other with poker faces but anyone who knew them could see the subtle smile in their eyes.
