Chereads / My way to success / Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

There is no dialogue between those who...

"A toast, everyone!"

"What for?"

"A new chapter. New stories in a new city."

"So you want to start over?"

"Yes-"

"No." I screamed, throwing away the glass of champagne I was given.

"Where are you?" She shouted. "We need to talk."

Her voice came all the way upstairs, but I didn't mind ignoring it.

"Here you are, dear!"

"Leave me alone!"

"You have no right to treat him like that."

"Can't you just leave?"

"All he did was to raise you."

"No, all he did was to provide money for you to raise me."

"What?" With a mark of amazement, she continued. "He taught you so many things. He showed you how the world truly is. He taught you to be tough, independent."

"Yes, you are actually right. He taught me how to always be prepared to receive a gun and how to perfectly use it. He showed me criminals, paid assassins, spies. He taught me that emotions are for the weak. So yeah, I know so much from him."

"You are so ungrateful, Skylar!" She said , and, like a tornado, she left.

Hopeless that they had breakfast without me, to take revenge for the behavior I had in front of them, I bowed my head and headed to Declan's car.

"Good morning, miss!"

A voice said from behind me.

"Oh!.. Hey , Thierry!" Looking at me, he could see the sadness on my face, the pain in my eyes. The regret.

" Miss? Why are you not eating with your family?"

"Because I was naughty yesterday and they chose to eat without me."

"No, dear! "He said, smiling. "They are actually waiting for you in the backyard pavilion."

My heart felt relieved. They were not mad at me?

As I walked away, I gave him a smile back and whispered a little thank you.

"Honey, where have you been?" She asked, looking deep into my eyes. But the pain was gone now so she could only see how happy I was that they cared enough to wait for me.

"I apologize for being late! To both of you!" I said while I watched my father's reaction.

He looked surprise, almost thankful.

But the back talking I did , the disrespect he considered I showed would not remain unpaid, neither now nor ever.

Declan's massive and muscular silhouette with its dark brown hair appeared on the alley. Impatiently, I screamed at him. "Come on, Dec! What took you so long?" But my voice tore apart by the thought that father could've heard me.

"Come on, Sky! It's not late. Shut up!" He grimaced as I threw my wrist in front of him.

"Watch it!"

"Buckle up for your safety!" He exclaimed, worried.

"Come on, Sky idiot! Stop staring at this weird buildings!"

"I told you not to call me like that! What if someone hears you? " I mustered him, but everything he did was smile.

"That is the whole point! Sky idiot! Now keep up, keep up with me.

"Opening the big, metallic doors, more than a thousand heads turned towards us.

"Be more confident!" He whispered.

"I think she is mad." A thin lady was perched on the stage, facing a lot of impatient students, alone.

"Calm! I will deal with her. I can use my charm here. Watch me!"

"Bold."

"Hello, Miss!" He said, waving. She smiled, staring at him.

Charm? Checked, with a wonderful success.

"Hi! Who are you?"

A pair of gold bright eyes were searching mine.

" We are Declan and Skylar-" He paused for suspense." -Moon."

"Thomas's children. Right?"

"Indeed, Miss!" He proudly affirmed.

Is there anything brighter than his eyes?

" Perfect! Come on the stage and introduce yourself!"

Who was he?

The path until we got there seamed endless and I almost fell, stumbling on the carpet, but Dec put his arm around my shoulder, showing off as a protective brother.

"Hello, everyone! I'm Declan Moon, I'm 19 and this is my little sister Skylar Moon, she's 17. We are honored to be here with you all!" He said, turning around to let space between us and the director.

"Oh...and, please don't mess with my sister. I'm tired of beaten people filling up complaints. Really! Please!" He shouted, to make sure he has been heard as I smiled at my description as a beater.

Everyone began clapping their hands for us.

But he didn't.

Through the loud NF music from my headphones, the sound of heavy footprints heading to my room resound, echoing. A vase fell, shattering in the agitation.

Gunshots came from all around the house.

"MOM! DAD!" I howled , grabbing my gun. "DECLAN!"

A man in black stood in the doorway, closing it, and before I could do another step, he came closer, pointing his gun to my head, right between my brows.

As he looked into my eyes, goosebumps appeared on my skin.

I felt the fire consuming him. I saw pain in his eyes and my fear went away.

"Hello." He said.

"Hey!" I answered, throwing my gun away.

Surprised, he showed a smirk.

"If I pull the trigger, you die."

I went closer to the barrel, sticking my forehead to the muzzle.

"Set me free then!"

He smiled with a winking satisfied expression.

"You are so different despite everything they say."

"Who says what?"

"Everyone. Everything."

He started lowering the gun, but I felt safer with it up at my head.

"Who are you? " I asked, reality hitting me.

"I am sorry for your family."

"What did you do?!"

Multiple men running on the halls were screaming .

"Boss! Boss!"

"Wait.." I said, my heart breaking. Shattering." You are responsible for this."

" Listen! I am, yes. They are not dead. I only want you dead-"

"WHAT?"

"No. Listen! I don't anymore-"

"Anymore? You literally came here with all your brigade to kill a 17 years old girl. I am not listening, ANYMORE." I shouted as I turned my back at him.

Picking up my gun, I lifted it above my shoulders then slowly walked out.

He stared at me, not breaking the eye contact. Not even once.

"If you'd excuse me, assassin, I'm going to save my family." He nodded.

Before I could take another step, the sound of a slammed door woke us both up.

Another man in black with a fully covered face came in.

He didn't wait.

He took action.

Lifting up his rifle and pulling the trigger , we heard the firing pin blow.

"NO!" He screamed, trying to push me aside.

The bullet was already on its way to me.

In a blink on an eye, another one was released.

He placed it right in my killer's head.

As I saw blood erupting from his head, I smiled then I was smitten.

He froze.

The white walls were now painted with drops of our boiling blood.

I felt Death inside me.

Collapsing, I watched as on his face were dancing an amalgam of emotions.

This can't happen so fast. It can't!

And yet it could..
