Chapter 97 - The Most Decisive Moment of Her Life

Jo was looking around her, this path was getting rougher and narrower. It wasn't like the one she'd been walking on before, she turned around to look for Aunty Su, but she had disappeared. Jo stopped in her tracks and waited for a while. Twenty minutes later, Aunt Su still hadn't caught up. Jo pulled out her phone and dialled Lu Ye Ze's number, but the line went dead. She looked at the screen and there was no signal.

"What is going on? This doesn't feel right, I feel that someone is looking at me!" Jo thought to her self, then she let out a deep breath, she put the tray down and her senses sharpened ten fold.

She quietly studied her surroundings, there was no movement. The sound of the wind blowing through the dried out branches of the trees was so unsettling. Jo picked back up the tray from the ground and started walking back. Suddenly a cracking was heard behind her, Jo turned around swiftly, she couldn't see anyone. Her gaze lingered a bit longer on the surroundings, then she squatted down and listened, a few minutes later three pairs of steps could be heard.

Jo quickly hid behind some bushes and put the tray with offerings down again, then proceeded to untie her cape. The steps were getting closer and closer. Jo inhaled deeply and stopped breathing, this was the most decisive moment in her life, in the next moment a man had just appeared from behind her. He was holding a dagger and lashed at Jo's throat.

Jo caught his arm mid air and exhaled the air she was holding, swiftly throwing the man in full force on the ground. She looked at him, it was an Asian tall, but thin man, with tattoos on his face. He seemed a member of a mercenary group. The three men were taken aback, they didn't expect the girl would know how to fight. Jo didn't had time to think any further, as the second man grabbed her by her neck, while the third was launching forward with a sword. Jo swiftly lifted her legs up while holding the man's arm, placed around her neck and then pressed down, applying all her weight, turning the man sideways in the trajectory of the sword. The third man, ultimately pierced his mate's body, with the sword.

Keeping her eyes on the sword, Jo released her self from the dead man's grip and hit the third man on the back of his head, but when she was an inch away to grab the sword, the first man pulled her by her hair and threw her on the ground, then forcing himself on her, by grabbing her neck to strangle her.

While she was pinned down on the ground and struggling to catch her breath. Jo finally had time to understand what was happening. Someone wanted her life and that person was in connection with Aunty Su. Jo was thin and much less stronger than the man who wanted her life, she couldn't resist any longer, she felt how her body was giving up under the man's tight grip.

Although she had trained in the Royal Military force, when she was young, it had been over five years, since she last practiced fighting techniques and her strength had decreased considerably.

In a flash Jo remembered her hair pin, so she swiftly pulled it out of her hair and pierced the man with it through his left eye. A pool of blood instantly splashed on Jo's face. The later loosened his grip around her neck and she started coughing violently, but unfortunately she couldn't catch her breath fully, as the third man caught her again.

Jo thought that her life has ended here and now, she didn't have any more strength to fight the last man. Her thoughts suddenly run towards him, her husband. Why hadn't she accepted her feelings towards him any sooner, why did she not listened to him and waited a bit longer. Now it was too late, Jo closed her eyes and a gun shot resounded through the woods.
