Back in London, it was early in the morning and with Christmas right around the corner, the work environment was very relaxed.
A group of girls, were all gathered over another one's desk, giggling and chatting happily about something. Jo was in the kitchen making a cup of coffee for herself and looked at them amiably through the glazed panel. She understood from the words, that were flying out from their mouths, that they were praising the looks of a new investor.
The group of girls looked quite infatuated with this man, their excitement spiked Jo's curiosity a little bit. Just how handsome can this man be, to make these silly girls hearts, beating in unison for him.
She picked her cup up from the coffee machine and casually strode over to catch on the gossip. Because they were all gathered over and blocking the computer screen, Jo couldn't see clearly the picture they were looking at, so she asked.
"Who is the guy?"
The girls suddenly turned to face the familiar voice and a multitude of big, sparkling eyes, started looking back at Jo.
"Gosh Jo!! How are you so lucky?!" shrieked one girl.
Jo was puzzled, when ever in her life had she been lucky, she really wanted to know. She took a sip of coffee and looked at these girls intrigued.
"Girl come! Take a look at this hottie, he is replacing Mr. Sun on Fenteng!" Said another girl.
A path was cleared, allowing Jo to see the screen clearly, when her eyes made contact with the eyes of the person in the image, her sip of coffee splurged everywhere on her clothes. That man was her one and only husband.
"Handsome! Isn't he?!" The girl who discovered his photo said delightfully.
While Jo went AWOL, the Fenteng project's first phase was signed and Foster & Partner acted as a secondary architecture firm. All the employees in the office thought, that Jo was most likely to get involved in the project, as she was the one that made the research back in China. She risked her life for it and she deserved it fully. The shock they all got, when she walked back in the office, safe and sound, was unbelievable.
Jo's heart started beating faster in her chest. She starred at the man in the picture, full of amazement. Her hands were slightly trembling holding the coffee cup. Just how is this possible ... she was thinking to herself. Lu Ye Ze's company was buying and breaking companies selling them for profit. This didn't fit his agenda and type of business at all.
Well she was going to find out sooner or later.
Back in China the day past quickly and there was no sign from Pei Lightian. The second day, Wei Wei waited for a while longer, but she decided that time was crucial and she needed to act now.
She made a phone call to Chu Nan to accompany here to the hospital. The young man arrived at her house within the hour and drove the girl to the central hospital.
Wei Wei went to the reception and registered to see a doctor. In the waiting room the young pair was looking nervous. The girl's hand was unconsciously placed on her stomach. She was too young to comprehend what an abortion meant, but she knew that later in life, she will regret deeply this decision, that she is about to make today.
Her trail of thoughts were disrupted by the nurse who was calling her name.
"Miss Lu?"
Wei Wei stood up from the chair and walked towards the nurse.
"I am sorry, unfortunately our obstetrician is not available this week, please come back next week and book again!" Said the nurse then left swiftly, not allowing Wei Wei any time to ask anything else.
