Lu Ye Ze was listening to her sweet voice, a smile has been painted on his lips, since he had started this phone conversation. The last sentence though made his heart tremble. Why is she asking about this... does she want a divorce... The man thought to himself, then replied with a grunt.
"Mn..."
Jo was dumbstruck, her heart starting racing in her chest and a fuzziness was filling her stomach.
"When did this happen?" The girl asked.
Lu Ye Ze had always thought about this question, since he found out, that she woke up from her death bed. The man was conflicted, what will be her reaction, when she would find out the truth. So he started reiterating to her, his own actions in detail.
Jo listened quietly to the man's story. On one hand she admired him for his honesty, but on the other, she felt used in such a despicable and cruel way. He had taken her from that dark place only to use her. Her last breath was used by this man to escape his engagement and prolong his heir status. Her heart twisted in pain, so she replied dryly.
"I understand..." Then she terminated the call.
She didn't understood though, she didn't understood his actions after. If he was just using her, what was the point of showing affection towards her, was he feeling guilty... Anyway it didn't matter now, she'd better forget about him and focus on her work and life back at home.
Lu Ye Ze had his eyes closed, with his left hand he was resting his temples and with his right, was still holding the phone to his ear. The beeping sound terminated and the call ended, taking his soul at the same time with it. This time it was over, it was truly over. The excruciating pain he felt in his chest was so powerful that he could barely breathe. Snippets of sweet memories of her, were playing back in his head. He stood there frozen in that position, for a very long time.
Pei Lightian, lifted his phone to his ear and answered in English.
"Hello?"
"Mr. Pei, we are calling from SHP Institute, we have conducted a more detailed research and obtained new favourable results for your case. When will you be available to discuss this matter in detail?"
The man was surprised to hear back from this institute and the fact that they had obtained favourable results made his heart skip a beat.
"I will fly there today, please wait for my call!" The man ended the phone call after that one line.
In that moment, the nurse had just exited Wei Wei's room and as soon as he put the phone down, he stopped her and asked.
"Is she awake?"
"You are?..." The nurse asked.
"Pei Lightian, her friend!" The man answered.
The nurse looked at this man with an inquisitive gaze.
"I am sorry sir, the young Miss does not wish to see you!" The nurse replied dryly.
The man felt his breaths cutting short, he struggled to grasp for air.
"Sir, are you alright? Do you feel sick?" The nurse noticed the man struggle to breathe and became concerned.
"I am fine... I'm fine, but I need to talk with her... please can you let me in, just for a little bit!" Pleaded the man.
The nurse looked at him, conflicted. She really didn't want to be involved in their conflict.
"Maybe I can relay a message..." Replied the nurse, she knew her patient desire was primordial and couldn't break the hospital's rules. She handed the man a piece of paper and a pen and then gave him some privacy.
Pei Lightian stared at the white sheet of paper for a while and then started scribbling something on it.
