Pei Lightian was taken aback by her question, 'their relationship', what was their relationship... how should he answer. His trail of thoughts was disrupted by a call.
"The family of Miss Lu Wei Wei?" The doctor on duty called.
Pei Lightian turned in the direction of the call and answered.
"Yes!"
The doctor made eye contact with him and said.
"Follow me!"
The man hurried his steps to catch up with him. When he reached beside him he asked.
"Doctor, how is Wei Wei?"
The old man with a full head of white hair and a pair of kind eyes, stopped in his tracks and turned to face a worried Pei Lightian. He seized him up and down inquisitively, and thought to himself... so this one is the culprit, he is much older, no wonder why the girl was quiet. It was the same doctor that had seen her the first time. This world was too harsh for these young girls. After a short pause he replied.
"Her health is not stable at the moment, she needs to nourish her body and get more rest, especially in the condition she is now"
Pei Lightian raised his eyebrows in shock and asked.
"Her condition?! What is her condition doctor??"
"She is pregnant! She needs to take care of her body and her baby!"
After hearing the doctor's words Pei Lightian felt how his knees were failing to support him. His head was spinning and his mouth had become dry. The doctor noticed his reaction and how his face paled instantly. He called.
"Sir, are you feeling alright?"
Pei Lightian covered his face with his hands and took a deep breath.
"Can I see her now?"
"She is resting! Wait for her to wake up first. Shall I call her family?"
"No!" Replied Pei Lightian hastily. "I will let them know in due time"
"Very well then" Said the doctor, then left him alone.
The man's body started convulsing slightly, he grabbed his chest and tried to steady his heart beat. His phone started buzzing, he pulled it out from the inside pocket oh his jacket and looked at the screen. It was an overseas call.
London 2:45am
Jo was wrestling with the comforter and the pillows on her bed. She had troubles falling asleep since she came back, she wondered if Lu Ye Ze's insomnia was contagious.
Inevitably her trail of thoughts would always lead to him. She felt incomplete since she came back. Although she was extremely busy these past two weeks, between explaining her disappearance and catching up with work, her focus was somewhere else.
Suddenly a ring came to her mind, in the box that Lu Ye Ze had left for her, there was a ring as well. She didn't pay too much attention to it back then, but now she remembered about it.
Jo instantly jolted from her bed and headed towards her wardrobe. She pulled the last drawer on her right and took out a navy box. She opened the lid and a ring was shining in the dim light. It looked like a wedding band, it was very thin and silver in colour. Jo picked it up in her hand to have a closer look. On the inside there was a small writing, she got up from the floor and entered the bathroom where there was better lighting.
When she saw what was written inside the ring she got instantly shocked.
"Lu Ye Ze & Lu Ri-El 24-10-19"
What did this mean, was her marriage fake or not. Her heart started beating faster and faster, if this marriage was real, then were his feelings real too, has she misunderstood him. A rush of feelings burst in her heart. There was one way to find out, she went back to the box and took out the business card. She keyed in the number and sent the following text.
"Hi, how are you? Its me, Ri-El"
