Chapter 7 - Endless possibilities

Inside Carven Town.....

It didn't take long for Velex to come across an inn although he didn't plan to stay long, it wouldn't hurt to have a place to come rest if needed. He booked a room for a week asked for some directions and quickly left the inn.

Although the town had a much bigger market then maken village, he was only currently in need of more information. anything that would tell him more about mages would be good. He walked down the streets till he came up to what looked like a book store, it was a 2 floor building made entirely out of wood with a stone base.

As he walked inside he saw many bookshelf, as well as a few tables and chairs. he didn't waste time and went up to the counter quickly. he was able to get a much better map for a gold coin, he was also able to buy a few books that had some info that would be useful to him. he decided to wait till he had gotten back to the inn to look at the map and read some of the books.

One question he had asked the worker at the counter was related to 'mage's' the worker gave him a weird look, the only useful information he had were rumors among commoners, which was that one would only run into a 'mage' inside the citadel. besides that it was up to one's own luck or misfortune. He added that it wasn't that most city's didn't know about mages it was that they couldn't circulate or sell any information about them publicly. As to the other avenues to get sum information the shop worker had no clue. Besides his first answer the 'citadel'.

Velex left the shop, he didn't want to waste anymore time, he went bac to the inn. back at the inn he unfolded the map on his bed and he could see many different towns and villages as well as city's what stood out too him was the large city at the Center in was labeled 'Raylen citadel'. after taking a few more glances at the map, he open one of the books he had gotten. It was called '100 common beast's' within the very few pages he found the Grey wolf beast and the dark green snake as well as many other beast he had yet to see. the book seem to be in ranking order from weakest to strongest, yet the age of the beast still played a big role in its power. he decided to spend his time reading the book, as it labeled a few of the know weaknesses and strength of those creatures. all this time he had been able to read thanks to his strong soul. Yet in time he wouldn't need to use it, although is was much faster.

He spent a full day memorizing the book, then he moved on to the next book that was title 'Raylen's common houses' it was just a short description of the influential human families with the 'Raylen's family territory'. he spent the next few days reading over the few books he had acquired.

By the time he was done, the seven days he had booked at the inn had expired so he decided to move on. The town had nothing to offer him, he would have to travel about 5 months worth of time to make it to the Citadel even with his increasing speed according to what he had read and seen on the map. he then went and spent most of his gold on a new set of clothing at the market. he was wearing a long red and black rob. under he wore lose cloth and leather pants with a thin silk like shirt. he soon left Carven town behind, he saw on the map that he could follow the river twine north for a few weeks before he would enter into Chaos ridge mountain with many mountain and thick forest area's.

he had followed the same routine as before, he had came across another new beast from the book. It was a large bull like beast it had large metal like horns 2 black eyes thick brown fur covered its body it stood a 12ft in height and only 8 feet in length yet its body was covered in thick muscles. The beast wasn't very fast yet it would break multiple trees when it charged, Velex had try to challenge the beast using his superior speed. although he didn't suffer in the exchange he wasn't able to damage the bull beast, he had only managed to cause a few scratches that only seem to irritate the beast.

He didn't delay as he left the beast behind, only sulking for a few seconds. he hunted a few grey wolf on his way and other normal animals. Besides that his current journey went smoothly. Soon he had come to the end of river twine forest, then he stood in front of the chaos ridge mountain region. he knew that there would be many much stronger beast in this region and he had no hope on being able to cross through the forest and mountains freely, he had no choice but to follow close on the dirt road.

Chaos ridge mountain was known for having stronger beast then the grey wolf or dark green snake beast, yet they would for the most part stay deep inside the thick forest and mountain areas. but the real danger came from the pack of weaker beast, they would group in order to survive here.

Velex quickly made his way along the dirt road, a bit over a week went by and he had yet to come across anything life threatening. Yet he didn't relax and stay vigilant, he had yet to see anyone on the road. But he wasn't surprised as those that would go through chaos ridge mountain would do so in caravan groups to minimize danger.

he had by now been running through chaos ridge mountain for over one month now. he should be able to make it to the large city before the citadel. although he didn't expect much, there would surely be some useful information compare to Carven town.

Velex jump of from a hole inside a tall tree, it was around 6 am it was the start of his daily routine. he had become used to traveling in such a way he didn't feel the days pass by. he started to run down the road. it was around noon when he finally heard the first human voices he had in almost 2 months. To be accurate they were more like screams and yells, he decided to take a look.

He jump to the top of the trees as he made his way towards the commotion. He soon came up to a small clearing, there were a few mangled bodies on the ground. he could see 8 humans in total, at this moment they were in a stand-off against a pack of grey wolf. they had good quality gear on, what seem to be fine thick leather and metal helmets. In the middle of the group was a young man in a silver long robe, next to him stood a tall sturdy middle age man in full metal plated armor.

A few of the grey wolf were injured but they were working together to slowly take down the human fighters. At first velex didn't care much about the situation, Yet when he took a closer look at the young man he could feel the energy around him. It wasn't much but he could tell the young man had the aspect of a mage, So saving the young man might turn out beneficial for him. He didn't act in that very moment he would first make sure that too wait for the best moment to strike. after a few minutes the grey wolf pack moved in , he could clearly see now although the full plated fighter was decently strong. he and the other 6 man were not enough to face the grey wolf pack. Fear could be seen in the young mans expression, it seem like he was sure he would lose his life here.

finally as 1 more of the guards went down, Velex made his move he dashed from the tall tree right on top of the grey wolf that had just killed the guard. He quickly dispatch it these grey wolf were too weak and predictable for the current him, yet there were 4 of them. Killing the first wolf he wasted no time disregarding the surprise of everyone around him. the man in the full plate armor didn't falter he kept what seem to be the leader of the pack occupied. Velex made quick work of the other 2 wolf and then him and the knight took care of the pack leader.

The other 5 guards fell to the ground exhausted yet thrilled they have survived. It was only now that everyone present finally took a good look at the young 'man' that had saved them. He wore a long red robe with black stripes, his wild silver hair came down to his back. He had red blood eyes, paired with the blood on his hands and his sturdy physique gave them the impression on a vicious wild beast.

none of the guards spoke, it wasn't till a few moments later that the young man in the grey robe came forward and spoke as he took his hood off. He had golden brown hair and blue eyes.

"We feel very grateful for this warrior's saving grace, my name is Lybert may I ask this young warriors name?"

"my name is Velex, I was on the road when i heard the commotion, too bad i didn't make it earlier"

the young man shook his head "those guards died doing their duty's, initially we were supposed to meet up with my grandfather half way through chaos ridge mountain. even if he was delayed he shouldn't be too far from here. although it's a bit bold of me too ask are you heading towards the citadel Velex?"

he decided not too hide the fact. "yeah, I have left my tribe to explore the world. i hope to gain better knowledge at the citadel" velex decided not to mention anything about mage's to the young man yet.

the young man broke into a big smile "We are heading in the same direction, i hope it would not be too much of me to ask for you to accompany us? I would of course pay you very well."

Velex made it seem as though he had to think it over, although his travel time would increase the information he could gain from the young man could be priceless.

"That's fine, I wouldn't feel right if i left those i just saved to fend for themselves"

"haha good, this favor I Lybert won't forget it" he then turned to the full plated guard and spoke "This is my lead guard phill, phill lets move we can't stay here more beast are sure to come soon"

with that said the phill had the 5 guards collect what they could quickly and got the carriage moving, of course Velex rode with the young man inside. They moved at a decent pace even with the 5 guards in tow.

Lybert question Velex about his combat ability, he was very impressed how strong he was for his age. they exchanged a few stories, for the most part it was an enjoyable trip, Velex tried to ask about mage's at one point. Yet to his surprise although Lybert had not denied he knew something he said "It's better you ask my grandfather about this" he didn't seem keen on explaining more. yet Velex was fine with this, he hadn't receive an answer, but he was sure he could gain something from this encounter.

it wasn't until 3 days later that they encounter 2 carriages moving at a fast pace from the other direction, the 2 groups came to a stop in front of each other the 2 carriages were white with a strange back flower symbol on both sides. from the lead carriage an old man who looked to be around 70 came out he had a white robe with the same black flower symbol embroidered on it. he had a thick grey bear and short hair, his eyes blue eye's carried a tinge of red fog inside them.

Quickly Lybert jump down from the carriage and went to greet the old man.

"Grandfather your finally here, you don't know how glad I am to see you" Lybert said with a quickly relaxing expression

the old man responded "mmm you did good to make it this far with just the few of you, I was delay by sum important matter's. it's good you only lost some guards and kept yourself safe"

Lybert scratched his head with a weak smile he said "Actually grandfather it was thanks to this young warrior that I was able to make it this far safely" he said as he signal for Velex to come out of the carriage.

the old man looked over to were his grandson was pointing, he soon was astounded by what he saw. But it quickly became apparent that it wasn't because of Young Velex looks as he said

.

"An Acolyte, But your so young!" the old man exclaimed in shock
