It's the day Camellia Empire has been waiting for.
My alarm rang reminding me to get off my bed and prepare. I went to the kitchen to have some honey tea with banana chocolate chip muffins.
After breakfast, I hit the shower, then brushed my teeth. It didn't take me much time to choose an outfit 'cause the colour of the day is red and white.
I grabbed a white jumpsuit with a red open toe strapped sandals and a red Louis Vuitton purse.
I'm not a fan of jewelry, so I just put on stud earrings. I took my car keys and drove off.
I arrived a bit early to the hall where the show would be taking place. I was surprised to see my employees working their butts off to ensure our model's appearances was second to none.
I invited the kids at the orphanage as models for the kiddies designs. The theme for the show is 'Feel the Love in Fashion'.
We came up with three countries, made designs in the country's attire but more in the Camellia way and picked out the main dialect in each country.
We choose France, Italy and of course Spain.
Each country had the theme translated in it's main dialect.
France was 'sentir l'amour à la mode.'
Italy was 'sentire l'amore rella moda.' And
Spain was 'siente el amor en la moda.'
They all mean 'feel the love in fashion.
I sent a van with some of my employees to accompany the kids to the events hall.
The show producer and Jessy were on the stage showing the models a few things they should do on the runway. The makeup artists turned our models into stunning figures.
I watched them organize everything quickly and I was delighted at how everybody was working hard. The show was at most 20 minutes.
The Fashion show kicked off at exactly 10am on the 13th of February. The hall was filled with guests from different countries. It was recorded as one of New York's best fashion shows.
Towards the end of the show, I walked on the runway with two of my models, we held hands and bowed before the guests.
I put my head up and smiled, feeling accomplished. I wanted to compensate my workers for their hard work.
I prepared a surprise picnic all on my own with my secret recipes. The picnic was splendid, it was in a beautiful park nearby. They all commented on the food not knowing who prepared it.
I'm really happy that I had the fashion show the way I wanted and got to spend quality time with my workers. We sure had fun.
I was having a smooth drive back home enjoying the wonderful view of the city. I felt really pleased with today's event and my mind and eyes were totally not focused on the road.
I couldn't help starring at the wonderfully designed sundress a lady at the bus stop was wearing. It was really distinct because of the bright colours it had.
I got distracted by the beautifully embroidered dress that I didn't know when the traffic light turned red and I had hit the car right in front of mine.
It was a black Bugatti, a really expensive one at that. The car's siren went off but the dude didn't come out of the car at all.
(Scoff). How nonchalant.
I had to come out of my car to apologize, though the damage wasn't extreme, but I don't want any problems.
The windows of the car were tinted. Ugh, this is just 'great'. I continually knocked on the glass but no response.
Hmm, maybe could it be one of those ghost drivers in the movies? Naa, that's just crazy talk. I mentally gasped, maybe… it's a kidnapper. Omg! There could be a kid in there!
I started banging the glass really hard not considering how painful it was. It was all to no avail then I tried opening the door, but it was obviously locked. I facepalmed myself.
Dumb me, what kind of kidnapper would drive leaving their door open?... none, I guess.
I froze once the glasses rolled down slowly.
"I'm so- -" I paused immediately I saw who the kidnapper was.
It was the hot stranger. Oh gosh! Why do I have to see this jerk… again?!
"Do you lack manners? What you are standing here for?" He calmly asked.
I scoffed, "'Manners'? Says the dude who didn't even flinch out of his car to check what happened or respond."
"Respond to what?" he asked.
"So, you're telling me that you became temporarily deaf?" I questioned sarcastically.
I could see his jaw clenching. Dang it! I've pissed him off. I bit my lip nervously thinking of what to do.
"You know I can always press charges, right?" he stated.
"Wait, y- -" I got interrupted again by some guy who looks pretty familiar.
"Dude, what's going on?" the guy asked. "Whoa, look what we have here." He said looking at me.
Oh, it's the hot dude's friend, umm, what's his name again? L-o- umm, Laurence. Na, I think it's got a z in it. Lor- Lorenzo! Yeah, it's Lorenzo.
"Lorenzo, I've been trying to explain to your friend that I didn't mean to hit his car but he's just giving me a cold shoulder." I complained hoping that he'd plead on my behalf.
"Man, you shouldn't get worked up over such a little thing. She's said she didn't mean it and has been begging. Dude, be a gentleman man, would you forgive this pretty lady?" Lorenzo gave his friend a slight nudge on his shoulder.
Mmm, he called me pretty.
The hot stranger didn't respond to what his friend asked him. I'm screwed, he'll never forgive me and then I'll get a ticket for running a red light, his car repair.
Lorenzo whispered into the hot dude's ear and he glared at me intensely.
Could there be something on my face or did he just realize that I'm really pretty? Well, his friend is right, I am a pretty lady.
The hot dude rolled his eyes, "Tsk" I heard him scoff before turning to me.
"Sorry about the delay, I bet he's forgiven you no need to worry. Bye Leona, hope to see you another time." He said waving to me.
I smiled, waving back at him. Just like that? The mean jerk forgave me so easily all because of Lorenzo.
Hmm, Lorenzo has a positive effect on his mean friend… or could it mean… they are more than friends, maybe lovers?
Eww, that can't be true. Leona snap outta such nasty thought, would ya?
Fine, fine. Besides, I was only thinking.
You need to get your head checked, especially your thoughts, before you go all psycho.
Shut your trap! You're in my head and your part of my thoughts, that means if anyone needs a check-up it should be you.
You know what Leona, I'm not gonna argue with you but do get a check-up it's for your safety.
Ugh, silly thoughts. I don't even get why the heck I'm arguing with myself.
It dawned on me that I was still at the same spot I've been, and my car was behind me.
That jerk made me get out of my car just to apologize to him.
I entered my car and drove home. It sure has been a long day, the fashion show and then… the jerk. I had a hot bath to clear my head off my silly thoughts.
I skipped dinner 'cause it was really late and I wasn't hungry.
I pounced on my bed reaching for my phone to disturb my dear, dear cousin, Adoncia.
"Hey Adony, what ya doing?" I asked.
"Sleeping Leona, what do you expect me to do by this time of the night!"
"Easy girl, I didn't expect you to be asleep. So, I'll call you tomorrow."
"No, no, no. Leona you called me 'cause you have something to say right. Let me guess, your life has become juicy? Wait do you have a date for tomorrow?" She asked with enthusiasm laced in her voice.
Too sad that my reply is gonna bore her.
"No Adony, I don't have a date and I don't want one, ok? I just wanted to tell you how awful part of my day went."
"Awful, I thought you had a fashion show today, how's that a bad thing?" She asked.
"Not the show, after the show, when I was heading home. There's this mean jerk I met at the bar one unfortunate day, I prayed never to see him again, but I just had to, and it was today." I groaned.
"So, what happened that made 'part of your day awful'?"
"I hit a car mistakenly and I was about to apologize when I found out it was the jerk's car. I made my situation worse by calling him deaf and he threatened to lay charges. Luckily, his kindhearted friend bailed me out from his fury."
"Kindhearted you say?" I heard the smirk in her voice.
"Don't get any ideas Adony, we are just acquaintances and that's not what I'm talking about. Isn't it weird that I keep running into that, that mean jerk?" I spat out.
"Look Leona, maybe it's just a coincidence, nothing to worry about."
"No Adony, I know a coincidence when I see one. I mean this is the third time, the third time I ran into him. You're an expert in things like this, tell me, what's wrong with my life?"
"Ok what I know is, if you meet someone once it's just happenstance, twice is a coincidence and thrice is fate girl, fate. So nothing is wrong with your life, it's fate in action."
"Fate?", I rolled my eyes, "Fate is one of the sadistic jerks I know."
"I helped you realize it's fate. So, would you help me get yourself a date tomorrow, huh?" She asked in a sweet tone.
"Nice try but not gonna work, goodnight Adony." I hung up before she said anything more.
Adony can be pretty annoying sometimes. I miss her a lot, at least she is older now and I can't actually believe I'm asking her for life advice.
How time flies.
It's the weekend and tomorrow is… the world's love day, Valentine's day.
Ugh, can't wait for tomorrow!!
