Zara
It's been three days since I've been in the Spanish palace and I had barely begun to adapt. There were a lot of rooms like back there in England but the designs were different. England's design was formal but the designs here was a bit of everything.
I held the hems of my gown as I hid from my ladies- in-waiting. They were all looking for me because I outsmarted them, running away. I sighted a gigantic door and before I could Mary Celeste, I ran inside, closing it behind me. I looked up to sight books all arranged in rows on the shelves. It was a very big library which was illuminated. I felt happy at what I discovered and walked in, more and more.
I came to a halt when I sighted a part where they were many romance books. I scanned through and took a copy from one of my favourite author, 'Amanda Quick'. She knew how to put her words in the right places.
Sniffing to the book, [this was a major habit of mine] I placed it back down about to go to the rest.
"I never knew you took interest in books, my lady?" I heard a strange voice and faced the direction the voice came from. It was a man who was his 30's. He had a brown hair and a jawline that could be mistaken for a knife's edge.
"Zara", I corrected. Call me Zara". Turning I offered my hand formally.
"I've not seen you around before. Who might you be?", I say in a pure English accent.
His lips curved. "Suarez, Lucas Suarez".
"Hello Lucas. Nice meeting you", I said extending my hand.
"You too, Zara", he said briefly, still trying to be formal. He seemed nice with the way he glinted his teeth.
"It's okay. I don't do formalities, so feel free Lucas", I say playfully. This makes him carry on talking but this time it's playful and like I had been in longtime friend.
"So, tell me princess, how have you dealt with being familiar with the palace? I barely adapt myself", he says moving closer to see me more clearly.
"To say sincerely, it's not easy to keep with everything. The new traditions, living...I'm a bit fed up, you know. Don't get me wrong", I say sitting down comfortably. I felt free with my new friend. I didn't have to pretend in front of him. I was just myself.
"I won't, carry on. It amuses me to see someone who's sincere with herself. Adapting is not an easy job", he says as he offers me tea and I reluctantly take it. I had a husband and to people, certain things meant certain ways. Even though I didn't believe in that though.
"Okay, I'm glad you see it that way. You know you're the first person I've told this and I would appreciate it if you don't tell anyone", I lift my hands dramatically. Gowns were so not my thing! So heavy, cuddling and annoying.
"I would do no such thing, Zara", he said again and I smiled sincerely. He must have noticed which made him smile too.
"So, we are on first name basis, aren't we?", said a voice. I looked up to the direction the voice came from and sighted Zack. I inwardly rolled my eyes as he came down from the magnificent library stairs that led to 'God knows where'.
"My prince", Lucas said standing to show his respect as he bowed down. I sat down with a bit of ego and stubbornly said.
"What are you doing here?", I asked him. Was he stalking me? It was only three days. What did he want? Urghh!
"Shouldn't I ask you dear wife, what you are doing in a lonely library with a man?", he said as he approached us gracefully. He was on a black shirt that hugged the right places and slim fit trousers that made him look royal.
"I think I should excuse myself, Your Royal Highnesses", Lucas said bowing his head and walking to his office which was in the library. Now back to the figure in front of me.
"Nothing that concerns you. Why do you care? The last time I checked, you didn't give a damn where I went", I said. My mum would have smacked me so hard if she was here; right now, witnessing this conversation because I had gone against her being polite rules but good thing she was not.
"And the last time I checked, you weren't so desperate to be in a man's arms. Have you changed your mind so quickly or do you find pleasure in having secret affairs?", he said looking at me emotionlessly as he drew closer. I unconsciously moved backwards till my back grazed one of the shelves, bringing me to an abrupt stop.
"You bastard", I said swearing in about three different languages I had picked up from novels and I used silently. But this time was different. I had said it out loud; much too loud. Damn my too-quick tongue. Even though he deserved it.
"You really do have an intriguing manner of speech, little one. And I find it less amusing", he drew nearer and I stood on tiptoe pressing firmly against the shelf. What was this? Why was my heart beating so fast?
"I don't care what you think", I say almost out of breath as his dark eyes stare into my sapphire ones. There was something captivating about his eyes. Something that drew me in. Telling me it wasn't right and it was also right too. His hands reached for my face and before I could stop him, he began rubbing slow circles just beside my mouth.
"I guess I have to do something about this mouth of yours", he said quickwittedly. I shudder a bit as he rubbed that spot and just as I was about to slap his hand away, he leaned in.
I stared at him surprised and couldn't process why he had just landed his lips on mine. He worked his head in right and left directions as he forcefully asked for entrance and touched my cheeks with one hand and used the other to allure the back of my hands.
I immediately gave in thinking it might be a good way of becoming familiar with ourselves. But that didn't mean this fight was over. I thought dominating the kiss which he took over. I quickly dominated the kiss which he took over again. I try to dominate again but he quickly dominated. We both struggle for domination almost in an urgency of abyss of passion. He was a good kisser, I thought. Really was that type of person that'd make you want to engage from dusk till dawn...
Pushing him away, I'm a bit out of words as I stare at him angrier. We were both panting from the mouth wrestle, staring at each other in confusion.
"Wife", he says. Like he was reminding himself that we were not wrong by kissing each other. More or less he had just mouth raped me because he didn't ask for my permission. I stand fully on my feet and realize that my hand was on his shoulder blade which I remove embarrassingly.
"Don't", I say looking at him daringly. "That was a mistake. And your own way of making me shut up, right?". I take a step out of his grasp and mentally slap myself. I had just let someone who accused me of having a secret affair kiss me. So, what if he was my husband? Even betrothed husband at that.
"Yes, it's all done", he added faintly as his eyes lit a bit. I looked in ecstasy as I noticed I loved his eyes but hated the owner.
"What's done if I may ask?", I asked consciously.
"I succeeded in summoning your mouth filters", he said in utmost elegance as I flicked my hair back from the slight pressure I felt at the back of my neck—I felt my neck hair stand.
"Are you playing games with me?", I asked as I watched his slightly amused expression. He sounded out of the world. Like in an adventure tale. What was that about his character report again? It said something about him being adventurous.
"If you would call it that, I'd very much like that, you know", he said walking out of the library.
I immediately punched the library shelf in anger making some books to dwindle off. I allowed him to get away with that amount of humiliation he had just made through the kiss. Oh, stupid me!
