Chapter 8 - Enemies

"They should be in room 7 and room 8." The receptionist told the two elites in front of her.

"Thank you." Philia said to her as she started towards the rooms.

Yuu and Kamio climbed out the windows of their rooms and ran into an alleyway. 'I haven't even been here a day yet, why is this all happening to me.' Kamio thought.

They continued to run in the alleys until the ground in front of them shot up blocking their path. "Did you actually think you both could escape?" Shinzo asked them, walking towards them.

"Ground magic?! He's going to be a pain in the ass." Yuu said quietly to Kamio.

"You should worry more about me," Philia said from above them, standing on the wall Shinzo made.

"Kamio stay back, I'll handle them," Yuu told Kamio.

"Are you sure you can? They both look strong." Yuu took a step forward but was pushed back by a strong wind.

'So she has wind magic. Shit.' Yuu thought to herself.

"You both are going to come with us. You will be interrogated and then most likely executed." Philia told them.

'I can't let Yuu fight both of these elites alone. There has to be some way I can help her.' Kamio thought.

'The book that Yuuki gave me might help, but I haven't had any time to see if I can actually use magic.' Kamio walked in front of Yuu.

'Well here goes nothing.' Kamio thought as he put his hand out, 'The book said to concentrate on surrounding a body part with magic.'

"What is he doing?" Shinzo yelled to Philia.

"No idea. My guess is he is magically inept and he is trying to use magic." Philia answered as she jumped down.

"Time to end this," Philia said as she raised her hand, but before she could do anything a red aura started to surround Kamio's hand. Before either elite had a chance to react, walls of fire appeared, blocking them off from Yuu and Kamio.

"Huh?! What the hell Kamio?! I'll question you later now is our only chance to escape." Yuu yelled at him as she grabbed his hand as smoke filled the alley and they ran past Shinzo and went towards an exit of the town.

"Damnit!" Shinzo yelled. Philia started to walk in the opposite direction of where Yuu and Kamio went.

"Shouldn't we go after them Philia?!" Shinzo asked her.

"Let them go for now. We will have other opportunities."

Yuu and Kamio ran until they got to a hill far from Scanvandar.

"Do you think … is this far enough?" Kamio said as he gasped for air.

"Probably not, but we need to get some rest," Yuu said as she fell to the ground out of exhaustion. Kamio laid down near Yuu and fell asleep.

The sun was shining bright which woke Kamio up. He leaned up and looked around him. "So it wasn't all a dream." He said to himself.

"What wasn't a dream?" Yuu asked from behind him.

"Nothing," Kamio told her.

"So, where are we headed today." Kamio stood up and asked.

Yuu started to walk away and Kamio followed her.

"We are going to the eastern pier town, Maka," Yuu explained to him.

-Eastern Territory-

"So they failed?" An elite with dark blue stripes on her cloak said.

"Yes, Lady Irima." A male underling told her.

"Any idea where they would be headed next?" Irima asked the underling.

"Unfortunately no." He said to her.

"I see. I'll be taking a leave of absence from the tower. Make sure Rex knows he's in charge." Irima told him as she got up and walked away.

"Y-yes ma'am!"

-Pier Town, Maka-

"Finally here!" Yuu yelled out as she and Kamio walked into Maka.

"So this is Maka? It's so small," said Kamio.

"The size doesn't matter, we need to find out when the ferry leaves," Yuu told him.

Yuu and Kamio walked through the town until they came upon the pier on the east side of the town, where they saw the ferry. Yuu walked up to a man standing next to the boarding platform for the ferry. "When does the ferry leave?" She asked the man.

"The ferry leaves tomorrow evening." The man answered.

"Thank you!" Yuu said as she walked off.

"So we have until tomorrow evening, what do we do?" Kamio asked her.

"Let's find an INN for the night," Yuu told him.

They proceeded to walk around Maka until they found an INN and rented rooms for the night.
