It's been a whole month since school started. Amory has been left alone by his previous bully, even to the point of said bully avoiding him as much as possible. This was commonplace in a world where power meant everything. No matter who you are, if you're strong enough to resist the law, you're a free spirit.
"Alright class! Tomorrow is the first dungeon run you'll participate in. As such, it will be low ranked and will only be taken halfway through dungeon. Any questions?" Mr Lange spoke with a excited tone, his eyes clearly having a hint of joy within them.
Amory, against his better judgement, raised his hand awkwardly, causing many to look at the boy.
"Yes Amory?" Mr Lange said with a smile, nodding for Amory to continue.
"Right.." Amory said softly and cleared his throat. "Who will be leading us through the dungeon?"
This question seemed to make Mr Lange smile even wider, nearly ear to ear now.
"One of you will be designated at the leader of your class. This applies throughout the year, and you would be responsible for the lives of your classmates." Mr Lange tapped his desk as he spoke, a holographic screen that held the names of every student, as well as the number 0 beside each name.
"You all will vote for someone. As for supervision, a high ranking guard will be tasked to step in at any time just in case something unexpected happens." Mr Lange smiled once again and nodded at Amory, clearly having an idea for who the leader may be.
"Ah, thank you Mr Lange." Amory said and sat down. He was oblivious to everyone already putting in votes through the UI menu, and decided to press a random name near the end of the list.
After putting in his vote, Amory flicked his wrist to pull up his own classes, getting work from his other teachers and finishing anything he could. Through this method, Amory was always done early with his classes, and typically had grades at A or B.
In the blink of an eye, 2 hours passed. Students were chatting, gossiping, and laughing all the same.
"Alright class, seems everyone has finished voting and got their work done. Is everyone ready for the results?" Mr Lange spoke loudly so everyone could hear. A clear grin was on his face that seemed way too friendly.
Every student stopped what they were doing, except for Amory, who was still working ahead.
"Your class leader is.." Mr Lange paused, clearly going for dramatic effect, which caused some of the students to groan before he displayed a holographic screen in the front of the room.
"Amory Sato!" The whole class exclaimed the name out loud, looking back at Amory.
He, on the other hand, was shocked by the loud screams of his name, and finally realized what was going on.
"Oh no.." He muttered, clutching his head in his hands and letting out a heavy sigh.
"I didn't want to lead.."
