Chapter 5 - Chapter Five - The Crown

Oliver, tightly gripping his sister's hand, steps forward to introduce himself to my sisters first.

"I'm Oliver. I'm the one who killed your sister Aviana."

"And I'm his younger sister Jessica, the one who's going to kill you Brooke." I smile as my daughter steps up next to her brother and curtseys to Brooke and Cassandra with a sarcastic smile on her face and a mischevious glint in her eyes.

Oliver walks over to me and takes Katie from my arms, tapping Aviana's crown which still sits on her head which causes her to giggle a little at her older brother's actions.

"This is our baby sister Katie. Obviously too young to be killing you just yet." Jessica punctuates her final statement with a giggle and Oswald snorts smoke in her direction in what seems to be amusement.

Brooke just glares in Jessica's direction whilst simeltaneously stealing nervous glances to where Sam is standing by my side with his arm wrapped loosely around my waist. I can tell that both of my sisters recognise my husband but evidently neither of them can quite place who he is.

Sam looks at me and kisses my cheek before moving from my side and walking over to our children, taking Katie from Oliver's arms. He looks directly into Brooke's eyes as he does so and she lets out an audible gasp after a moment, showing how she now knows exactly who the man standing before her is.

"You already know me but I'm Sam. Remember when you and your sister murdered me Brooke? My daughter here wants to return the favour and I would really hate to disappoint her, you know."

Brooke's eyes widen as Sam speaks and I notice out of the corner of my eye as Oliver subtly unsheaths my father's sword from it's place on his belt and hands it to Jessica.

As soon as she has the sword firmly in her grip, Jessica walks forward until she stands face to face with Brooke - barely an inch between the two. I expect my daughter to simply stab Brooke in the heart or cut off her head but instead she motions behind her towards Oliver. My confusion only grows as my son walks forward and pulls Brooke's arms behind her back, holding her tightly in her place. All of my questions, however, are answered when Jessica finally speaks.

"I want you to feel the same pain that my father felt." I can hear the pain behind my daughter's words, no matter how much she tries to mask her emotions. I also notice how Sam's shoulders suddenly tense at her words and I don't hesitate to walk forwards and place a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Jessica has a smile on her face at the thought of finally avenging her father as she lifts the sword above her head and swings it back down with an amount of force I never thought possible from such a small girl. The blade slices through her shoulder, removing her arm completely, and her cries of pain can be heard all around the courtyard.

I can only mirror this experience to what Aviana told me had happened that night when I first discovered that my sisters were to blame for my husband's murder.

"We cut off his arms first and I could tell he was trying so hard not to scream. That didn't last very long though, eventually he was crying and begging for us to put him out of his misery. It was funny really, watching such a powerful man cower before two girls. After that we cut off his legs too, just so he was still proportional of course. It took about a minute after that for him to pass out from the amount of blood he'd lost. Of course Brooke wanted to wait until he woke up again and have a bit more fun but I convinced her that we should just kill him right there and then our sister stabbed Sam in the heart."

I remember how she had smiled sadistically the entire time she was talking and the feeling of my heart breaking in my chest a little more with each word is still ingrained in my mind. I want nothing more than to watch my daughter deliver the justice that is so rightly owed to our family.

I hear a scream from my sister and as I look back up I notice that Brooke's other arm is now detatched and both Oliver and Jessica are splattered in her crimson blood. This doesn't seem to put them off like it would to most, it seems to encourage them further as if the blood is some kind of a drug.

I watch as Jessica raises the sword yet again and aims for Brooke's left leg this time but she hesitates and just before she hits her target, she stops completely and the hand holding the sword falls to her side. At first I think that the tears in Brooke's eyes have deterred her and made her stop what she was doing but when she speaks and sounds exactly like her father I am truly proud of her.

"I won't do to you what you did to my father and make him relive that terrible night. That would be cruel of me. Oswald, care to do the honours?" Jessica nods in his direction and my companion shoots a fireball towards my sister without hesitation. Her screams die out after a few minutes and Oliver high fives his sister before they walk over to where I stand with Sam by my side.

Cassandra stands next to where Brooke's body still burns, her hand over her mouth and tears falling down her face as she is frozen in shock.

"You can join them if you want. Or you can step aside and allow me to take the throne." I surprise even myself with how gentle and caring my voice sounds. They are not words that I would normally associate with myself and the feeling is odd.

"I'd much prefer to take the throne myself. I think everyone here can agree that your bloodlust is insatiable and the safety of the entire kingdom will be in jeopardy if you end up sitting on that throne little sister." The harsh words come not from Cassandra but from a much more unlikely source: Damon.

"And what do you want to do about that? The children will kill you if you dare lay a hand on me Damon."

"Actually mother we agree with him. You're out of control and someone needs to stop you." I turn to face Jessica at her words and let out a sharp growl, startling everyone around me including Oswald.

"Why don't you kill me then?"

"I might have to."

The last thing I see before the darkness consumes me is Damon standing over me, holding our father's sword and plunging it into my chest after Jessica handed it to him.
