I was quick to arrive at my father's mansion and made my way inside. I was met with absolutely no resistance from the butler or the maids, just stares that burned through my back.
"Is my father here?"
"Y-yes sir. He is in h-his office."
I nodded at the young maid and walked up the stairs making my way to my father's office. He better be able to track this man down, if he can't I am not sure what I will do. I need to find Annabeth, I own her and she had no right running off. I planned on dragging her back by her hair and show exactly who was in charge and what would happen if she ever ran off again.
I quickly knocked on the door and tapped my foot impatiently waiting for permission to enter. I may not like waiting and enjoy throwing my power around, but I knew better than to do that around my father. Yes he has gotten up there in years but that has not made him any less powerful and terrifying.
"Enter."
The moment that word made its way to my ears I was through the door and slamming the picture down on my father's desk. He was looking at his laptop and didn't even flinch when my hand made contact with his desk. In fact he didn't even bother to look at me until he was finished with the email he was typing up. I hated when he did that, this was extremely important and he was acting like it didn't even matter!
"Was that necessary?"
I looked at him like he was stupid.
"Was what necessary?"
He gave me a scolding look before speaking.
"Was it necessary to slam the picture down on my my desk?"
"Are you kidding me?! I am in a hurry to find Annabeth and you act like you don't care!"
He just shook his head at me.
"Slamming things aren't going to cause her to be found any sooner. Your impatience and anger are going to be your downfall. In our line of work you must be patient and calculating while keeping a cool head."
"Yes I know dad you have told me a thousand times. I am not a child anymore and I am sick you constantly treating my like one!"
"I wouldn't treat you like one if you didn't act like one. If you are going to take my position you need to get your act together."
I could hear the underlying threat in his voice even though the tone never changed. I couldn't stop the glare that took over my face while I swallowed down my retort. He wouldn't always be around and when they day comes I would be the one in charge and have final say.
He picked up the picture and lazily looked over it inspecting every detail of the image.
"Good looking young man. He almost looks familiar..."
His sentence trailed off as he squinted at the picture trying to figure out who this man was. Suddenly his eyebrows jumped up in surprise and he was quick to pick up his cellphone and make a call.
"Hey Richard. I have a job for you, a favor if you will. I have a gentleman that my soon to be daughter-in law disappeared with and I need you to do some digging for me. This one won't be easy I'm afraid."
I started tapping my foot again wishing my father would have just made it an order, no one can say no to those.
"Thanks buddy, I owe you one I really do."
"Well?"
"Relax boy. Richard is the best in the business you know that. It won't be long before you have Annabeth back."
