1 hour later in a clearing surrounded by woods-
"Um, hero?" after walking out of the walls of the capital city Hesia I still don't see any other of our party members. He turns and looks at me with a smirk heading towards the middle of the clearing. He sits down cross legged and waves me over. The fuck? We're not even a mile away from the walls and he wants to rest? He even turned down the horses!!!
"Sit down and explain magic to me." the look in his eyes show interest and curiosity akin to a small child.
"Magic is something every living thing borrows from the world itself," I start from the basics remembering my audience was from a different world "Mages build circles in order to cycle the energy through our bodies and give it a will." I keep it short while studying his face. I noticed that when I said circles he looked confused.
"The more circles you can stack on top of each other the more magic you can use from the world." once again I noticed he looked confused but this time it replaced by a disappointed nod. "Is something wrong hero?"
"First off drop the hero," he casually leans back as he stares at me "call me brother from now on." A mischievous glint flashes in his eyes before he continues. "Two questions before I tell you that everything you know is a lie." Confusion washes over my face? I'm considered a genius in my own right for learning both lightning and healing magic by myself. But an otherworldly existence is going to tell me something about my world? I shrug shaking off my thoughts about this arrogant 'brother' "How are the elements listed and what allows you to use them."
Once again the question is common knowledge so it got me thinking about what was wrong with it. After some thought I look off into the sky and lean back with him. "The four most basic elements are fire, earth, water, and air. The advance tier is combustion, gravity, Ice, and thunder. The special classes are lightning, Healing, and Spirit. And the ones everyone strives for is Sun and Moon." I pause to steal a glance at him once more seeing he is also staring into nothingness with me.
"Your affinity is basically set from birth, rare cases like me sometimes pop up and are able to learn different types of magic due to circumstance." I continue wanting to get this out of the way. "The Goddess good grace is what allows us to use this energy as long as we follow her example and strive for higher realms." I'm slightly proud in myself for being about to give such a concise explainaton despite not learning from a school until much later.
He looks up and holds out his hand attracting my attention. " If what you was is true than this shouldn't be possible." as he looks over to me a black flame appears above his hand.
No spell casting was needed. He doesn't have any type of magic circle. There are cases of blue and yellow flames but black colored magic is a trait of the Moon element. Worse off the flame is actually giving off a cold aura not unlike Ice magic. As the shock sets in, he crushes the flame in his hands. "When I was younger I lived in a place where you could see the snow for miles," he looks back up with stars in his eyes. I try to recover from that show of unthinkable magic but the black flame keeps replaying in my head.
"I learnt young that there is no higher being, at least not how people make it out to be." he huffs and looks me in my eyes. "This world and every other is ran by laws little brother, these laws can be changed by damn near anything on a whim." This time he raises his arm and with a fluid motion with the other hand he cuts his wrist.
"But they only reveal themselves to people who have became a law themselves." the blood from his wrist never hits the ground. To my very shock and uncomfort they float towards the sky. "I was born with the uncanny gift of being able to tap into my instincts, the very ones that we got from our singular ancestor." At this point I'm both lost and horrified. The amount of blood coming from him is equivalent to gutting three men yet he keeps letting it float with no mind.
"So let me ask you little brother, where are we?" the question needless caught me by surprise as I look around us again.
We're still in a clearing but this time surrounded by jungle. I see trees and plants I've never seen before. Not one sound can be heard from the jungle, and from my experience that means everything here has the ability to be a predator. I turn back to him, seeing a black wisp fading out on his wrist. Go figure, the impossible magic heals too.
"Why are we here?" I know better than to ask him how or where we are. Like he just explained everything I know is a lie. I don't even care anymore at this point. I know the princess sent spies after us and that I'm most likely going to be wanted for treason by the time the moon rises.
"We both grew up in the wild, so it's fitting that I open your eyes to the world from the wild." Nope. not buying his bullshit. He just teleported and showing me non realistic magic just to open my eyes? I'm stupid but not that fucking stupid.
"Bullshit!" it was bullshit so I called him out on it. I had wanted to yell at him but my habits from living on my on started kicking back in and I whispered it. The strange idea of him trying to hide me came to mind. But for what? I literally met this wack job yesterday. Wait. Did he mesmerize me with those golden eyes!
Can't be. Not gay, or at least I've never tried it. "Stop thinking of weird shit, we're only here because no zombie can get here," the fuck is a zombie and how does he always seem to know what I'm thinking?! "Because you basically wear it on ur face and don't get me wrong I do like men, it's just that your not my type." Leaving me sitting on the ground with those words and still wondering what the fuck is a zombie, he heads to the trees.
