Carson City, NV
After finally reaching the right city, we stopped for a motel room to regroup. This motel was actually quite nice, it was recently remodeled, and there was even a minibar. It felt fancy. I dug out the extensive files on Richard, and we went to work separating them in to what was important versus what was, basically, junk.
"I say we start here," I said, pointing to the ex wife's address.
"I was thinking that, too," Hades quickly replied. He grabbed a duffel bag on the end of the bag and headed towards the door.
We drove to Shelly Brody's house, learning that she wasn't home. We didn't have a whole lot of information on her, she wasn't deemed important to the mission. We decided to get some fast food and return for an old fashioned stakeout. We drove to the nearest fast food chain, and my partner ordered for us.
"One quarter pounder with a coke and one order of chicken tenders with a strawberry milkshake," he practically yelled into the box. He started driving up to the first window to pay. I wondered, he already knew my order right off the bat even though I didn't tell him. He remembered. I was starting to see him in a different light. After we went through the first window and were at the second, I asked a question I never thought of, one we were never, ever supposed to ask anyone that was a part of the Association.
"Hades," I started, catching his attention. "What's your real name?" He answered honestly, I could see in his eyes that he was telling me the truth, and for once, I felt... happy.
I hated it.
