The light traveled wherever it desired, through countless worlds and dimensions that would make any human pale in fear and shriek in joy. A world raised by the power of spiritually powerful grasshoppers, a dimension filled with only small globes of pink gas that radiated laughter and lost and so many others that blended into a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. As the light traveled in a barren dimension, a translucent delicate hand grabs the light. The hand cups the light and brings it closer to a nearby planet. Slowly, the hand goes back to the planet, traveling through plains and jungles, all sorts of life teeming through the planet in a thousand sperate forms of species. The hand then reaches a small shrine, placed among a dozen monoliths made of an unknown deep purple/black coloring. From above, the pillars of metal framed the shrine in a circle, with rune like symbols painted on the top. Each rune shining in rainbow colors and extending out towards the sky, filling the small area with dense energy swirls. The shrine doors swing open and the hand finally recedes inside.
Inside, small orbs shine heavily on the charcoal colored walls, illuminating the space. A petite figure in dark maroon robes sits crossed leged near the back wall, adjacent to a small azure fire and rusted cauldron. The hand slides to the side of this figure, dropping the light in a small jar encrusted with two small ruby's and green runic etchings. The light spins around the jar, looking to escape only to find the jar sealed completely. Seemingly dejected, the light settles to the bottom of the jar, awaiting its fate.
A sigh echoes throughout the room as the petite figure reaches out towards the jar. Delicate, beautiful and flawless like jade, the figures feminine hand grips the container before bringing it to her lap. With the flick of her finger, a single drop of blue blood flies from under the hood and drips into the etchings. A flash radiates through the room, breaking through the walls and traversing through the barren universe . Back in the room, the figure sways letting a single lock of blonde hair to tumble from under the hood. A cloud of impure air is expelling from the panting lungs of the figure, leaving a shaky and unsteady body form. With a content sigh, royal blue eyes stare into the adjacent window, shaking with untold worry, joy and shame.
A mellow, sultry voice echoes out, " good luck".
Alex didn't consider himself to be lucky, in fact he never really experienced much good luck. He once won 500 dollars at a casino but that was it. Now he has found himself in a void. Yes, the void that is so typically see in the confines of a novel. In this void, Alex could see nothing but the pitch dark around him. He didn't really know if he was seeing this or if it was the end result of a pathetic existence. Many of his friends said that death was the cessation of consciousness but this?! This was almost too much to bare. Being aware yet drifting through the darkness has shooken Alex's spirit. To contend with this burden, he started to think of his life and the memories that persisted. He reviewed each failure, each time he felt embarrassed, even those times he stole from the Circle K to eat in college. Everything came and went to fill up his time and avoid the recurring thought that he would be stuck forever.
Silence spread through the dense void, as a singular soul drifted. His mind blank as the void around him, seemingly in a peaceful mediation. Suddenly a piercing light forms ahead of him. A round bright wormhole formed, letting a still soul to float gently through. The hole opened into a blank white room, with a singular chair, desk and computer monitor. Alex is floated to the chair and seated gently. The monitor flares up, showing a single Welcome Banner with a start button underneath. Alex remains unresponsive, leaving the banner to wave around the screen in bright colors. Finally, the chair starts to emit sparks that converge onto Alex.
A sharp gasp resounds through the barren room, "The hell was that?!". Alex opens his eyes to see this barren well lite room. The shock of the void has left a permanent stain on Alex, even the most shocking of moments could not contend with perceived years of solitude in the void.
' This change in scenery is pretty nice. I have never been more grateful that I escaped the dark. Weird... I should be having an emotional outburst like I did with everything else in my life, yet I'm pretty ok. Mediation is Hella OP" Alex thought to himself as he viewed the monitor,' I might even be able to contact other people now!! Never thought I'd be happy to see someone else but meh, Its all about perspective'.
Alex scans the monitor to see what he could do , only to see the welcome banner and a small start button. With no real thought, Alex hits the start button and sees a series of messages float through the screen.
A bubbly female voice echoes through the room" Welcome and Congragulations Lucky Soul # 76382981-6ACL. You have been selected removed from the cycle of reincarnation to beta test the brand new G.O.D. Lucky Break. When you are ready, hit the continue button on the right hand part of the screen and we can fulfill your Lucky Break. Again, Congratulations".
' G.O.D. Lucky Break?! Cycle of Reincarnation?! Ahahahahahaha! The hell is this?!' Alex mini-panics in his mind. Everything start to crash and rattle around his mind. Suddenly he recall the stillness of the void and his mind starts to slow and regain a semblance of peace.
' OK. I can do this. Just like your last life? you can do this! Go with the flow and hope it all works out. Such an optimistic moment...sigh...perspective is everything' Alex thinks as his reaches towards the continue button. Come hell or high water, Alex will figure it out with the click of a button.
