MICHEAL
We get home late at night and I quickly go to the kitchen to prepare dinner for Bella.
She strolls into the kitchen moments later with Jason behind her, her eyes are bright and there's open curiosity on her face, this is opposite from the reaction I expected to get from her.
She walks up to me and places a kiss on my lips smiling.
"I still can't believe this," I say
"Believe what," she asks me
" That you're here, kissing me with that satisfied smile on your face, it's so not normal"
" I'm not normal, I thought that was why you fell in love with me" she grins widely
I shake my head over and over .
" No, no, no....this isn't right, you know you're allowed to scream, run out"
She throws her head back and laughs out loud..
" Why will I do that? My boyfriend is a real-life vampire that's so cool, you know I was worried that you were a ghost or a demon from hell or something scary".
I look down at her surprised
" So, the vampire isn't scary enough"
" Well not when the vampire is as hot as the ones I know, that's supposing he is also a vampire," she says turning to face Jason, who's leaning on a counter looking bored.
He turns to face her, then smiles flashing his fangs, Bella steps back hitting me and I wrap my hand around her waist pulling her to me. Jason laughs and moves to the table so fast, I'm sure Bella didn't see him move.
She stares at him with wide eyes for a minute before she exclaims excitedly
"That's fucking cool, do it again"
We both look at her, I more speechless than Jason as he finds his voice first.
"Oh, there are a lot of things I'll love to show you, like how I feed" he smiles again seductively.
She sucks in a deep breath then turns to look at me as I place a plate of eggs and bacon on the table.
"Do you guys only feed on blood?"
I pull back a chair for her and she sits, her eyes still fixed on me .
" We only need blood, but we can eat food, mostly out of habit because it doesn't benefit us in any way neither does the lack of it affect us".
" Oh, I see," she says turning to face her food as she begins to eat slowly.
"Do you take human blood?" I could see the effort she was taking to keep her voice from shaking, okay so she was okay with me being a vampire but she has a problem with me feeding on people, what the fuck does she think vampires feed on.
"We feed mostly from blood bags, animals maybe once in a while but we don't kill people" I say, taking her hands in mine.
Maybe this is it, she'll hate me now, I think.
"I see" she murmurs forking more of her food into her mouth.
"So you've been a vampire for a little over three months, how long has Jason been a vampire? "
I look at Jason, and he shakes his head
" I'm going to let you both catch up, but we need to talk Micheal" after saying that Jason stands up and heads up to his room
"Maybe you should ask him yourself" I reply her kissing the top of her head.
Jason
I watch as Mirabella quizzes Micheal about his life as a vamp, waiting for an opportunity to tell Michael about my findings but I don't interrupt because I know how important this is to the both of them.
It's a good thing that Mirabella doesn't look shaken, she was very quiet on the ride home and looked very scared but it seems she decided before we got home because as soon as Micheal parked his car, she turned into the opposite of scared, jumping around laughing and asking questions.
Maybe she's in shock or she has gone crazy but all of this was too much for me, this is exactly how Cataline would have reacted, she was always so excited about absurd things.
I sigh internally and look back just as Mirabella ask how long I have been a vampire, Michael looks at me and I shake my head signaling him that I wasn't up for it.
"I'm going to let you both catch up, but we need to talk Micheal".
I tell Michael loud enough for Mirabella to hear, as I stand up and head upstairs, all of this was bringing back memories I wanted to keep buried.
I lay on my bed and close my eyes wishing I had the ability to dream, forget my fears and worries for even a minute, but the only dreams I dream are the ones I make, and for a hundred years it has been the same one, Cataline and I in the 'garden of love' at sundown, her head on my shoulders and my hands around her back.
The garden of love had been her term for it because she said it smelt of love and freedom.
