A dagger flew by Boyd's face as he ran and planted itself into the sturdy tree that was just a few steps ahead of him. The sudden appearance of the dagger, and the danger that he felt in that short span of time made his heart skip a beat, and his foot miss a step.
'I won't make it.' Boyd's mind gave way to the depressing truth.
He was injured and exhausted. His assailants on the other hand were Vampires who were known for their incredible endurance. He, on the other hand, was never built for long periods of stress. He could already feel his feet starting to slip up with each step he took. At least, he thought so. He was no longer sure that he could still feel his feet.
With each passing moment, the Vampire assassins got closer and closer to Boyd, and just when he was sure that they would catch him, something completely unexpected happened.
