Boyd and his father sat in silence after Vera and Kasuyi had left. Boyd actively avoided his father's gaze until the older man sighed loudly. He raised his gaze to look at his father. He had become much older, the stress of leading an entire race weighing down on him like massive mountains intending to crush him to dust.
"I'm sorry." Naian spoke first. He knew how much he had hurt his son when he banished. It had hurt him too, but whenever he thought of what Boyd must have gone through, the betrayal he must have felt...
