Whoosh! Thunk!
A dagger split through the air and buried itself into the tree that Boyd just ran past. He flinched, but didn't waver in his steps one bit. Stopping meant death at the hands of the squad of Vampires that were currently bearing down on him.
'Only a couple more miles and they won't be able to chase me anymore!' Boyd thought to himself, trying to spur on his body to provide more energy, but he was already running dry. With a sinking heart, he realized that he may not make it.
All of a sudden, a gust of wind blew up from beneath his feet, and since he was currently just balancing on one foot, it was easy for the gust of wind to blow him off his feet. The first thing that crossed his mind was the possibility that the Vampires had hidden a mage within their ranks as a trump card, but he immediately crossed that off when he witnessed the next few moments.
