"Any news?" Esmeralda drawled, resting lazily on a soft couch.
"Nothing yet... I don't think we are going to be finding Quint. It's best to assume that he has been taken captive by the enemy." Anthony rubbed his head, feeling a dull ache starting to form. He had taken most of the day, communicating with his ants and sending them all around the planet. It was very taxing on his mind, controlling such a large number of ants.
"There's only one course of action left, then... To report it to the higher ups." Noir chipped in, his signature carefree smile plastered across his face. The sight made Anthony want to punch the Dark mage's face in, but he withheld his urges.
"Let's get going, then." Anthony turned on his heels, almost eager to leave. Esmeralda only chuckled at the sight.
Soon enough, after settling some little matters and leaving the other weaker mages to manage the aftermath of everything, they left, journeying towards one of the numerous portals that connected this world to others.
"They're finally gone." The Fate mage sighed, shoulders slumping forward with relief. She had been tense ever since the moment the three Lord Class mages arrived. The auras that they subconsciously released was enough to act as a stamp of pressure, constantly keeping her suppressed, even so, as she was a non combat oriented mage.
Staring off into the distance where the Lord Class experts disappeared to, she slowly got up from her perch, dusting off her robes, before going to let the townspeople know that the inn was now vacated, and ready to return to their owner's hands.
...
Wind blew past Kasuyi's face as he, Rajaa, his summoned mount, and the Lord Class mage, along with his own mount dashed through the air. They had long left the planet on which Fort Wildermont Now, they were on the planet Hellina, an exotic planet filled with lush forests and very minimal signs of civilization. What little expansions had been made into these planets were only at the edges of the world where magical portals connected Hellina to other worlds.
Quint kept his lips tightly sealed as he and his mount, Blitz chased after Kasuyi and his mount. They found it quite difficult to keep up with the summoned mount that Kasuyi was riding on, a Spike Wyvern. Spike Wyverns were known for their extreme speeds. Although they were far from being the fastest of the Lord Class beasts, they were still able to achieve significant burst speeds in a short period of time.
Quint certainly wasn't chasing after Kasuyi to fight him, far from it, really. In truth, he was chasing after him because Kasuyi had simply let him live, saying to follow him if he wanted to know the truth. What truth, he had no idea, but stull, he wanted to know.
There was the old adage, 'curiosity kill the cat', but even with that ringing at the back of his head, he was determined to find out what this 'truth' was. It was with that thought that he gave his all to keep up with the mage that had easily defeated him.
Kasuyi kept ahead, making sure not to leave the mage who was tailing him too far behind. In truth, he could have just teleported away from the battlefield, but instead, he chose to lure this mage away for a certain reason.
The two kept their pace for several more hours until Kasuyi began to slow down. Ahead of him was a massive mountain range with the mountain peaks extending all the way into the cover of clouds up ahead. He urged the Spike Wyvern to slow down, gradually reducing its altitude until it was just as few dozen meters above the ground. Quint had also noticed this, and started slowing down as well. If necessary, he didn't want to approach Kasuyi with any aggressive movements.
Finally at the base of the mountain, the Spike Wyvern landed softly, letting down its head so Kasuyi could descend. He stepped down, turning and looking up at Quint, who remained in the air with his mount, Blitz.
"Why don't you come down, young man?" Kasuyi asks, a sly smile gracing his lips.
"I don't think so. I just need to know. Why did you attack Fort Wildermont? And why did you spare us?" Quint looks at Kasuyi with a narrowed gaze.
"Ah, it's all part of my revenge plot on some of your superiors. It doesn't concern you, so I do not really see the point in pointlessly massacring you people." Kasuyi waves his hands, as though pushing away the pointless matter.
"And if I may ask, what matter is this?" Quint pushes further, carefully probing for more information. He knew that asking for more information might get him killed, but he would at least try and see the limit of what he could get.
"As I said, these matters do not concern you. Your generation is too young to dip their toes into the waters of a feud that has stretched over multiple ones before you." A cold undertone takes form beneath Kasuyi's voice. The harshness of his words make Quint to subconsciously flinch before regaining himself.
'A mighty Lord Class expert like me, flinching before someone who doesn't even have an aura.' He scolded himself, clenching his fists tight.
"Then what truth did you mention when you spared me? I at least have the right to know that if you bothered to mention it at all!" Quint changed the subject to something else, seeing as he wasn't making any headway in finding Kasuyi's motives.
"Ah, that? I just wanted to ask you if you were raised by the Army all your life?" Kasuyi donned a look that made him seem as though he forgot something important.
"My childhood?" A frown grew on Quint's face. "What does my childhood have to do with you?" The frown grew ugly with every passing second.
"It might have something to do with me, considering the fact that I know your grandfather." An inexplicable smile grew on Kasuyi's face when the last words left his lips.
