Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

After finding out about his host's situation, Kasuyi faced the next big question- Why was he reborn?

At the last moment before his Tinder died out, he recalled his System stating that he had met some hidden requirement to unlock a new skill. He had the knowledge of all the skills available at the Demigod Class, so that means the skill, Life Tinder: Reborn, which was unlocked, was most likely a God tier skill!

While at his peak, with his vast knowledge, Kasuyi created a system that kept a record of all skills, races, and whatnot that he had come across in the world. He called it the Divine Mage System. With the culmination of knowledge from various generations, this System developed a mind of its own and had manifested to become a sup-soul that lived within his mind.

'Perhaps... It brought me back to make things right...' A strange flash passed through Kasuyi's mind.

[Welcome back, Kasuyi. While your Tinder was being restored, I monitored the situation of the world. Your former disciples have painted you as a manifestation of evil while elevating their positions in the eyes of the masses.]

'Of course, using underhanded techniques... I wouldn't put it past them.'

[Magic has now been banned in the known universe, including the various worlds of the secondary dimension that are under their jurisdiction. That would be the reason it startled the kidnappers from earlier.]

[Anyone found practicing magic will be enslaved or executed. The worlds mainly comprise average humans, martial artists that train their bodies to higher levels, and beasts.]

Kasuyi mentally nodded. Until he could regain power, it would be best to don the guise of Kai, his host. With the memories he had gotten from the System, it would be far too easy to blend in, while also making life easier for this family, of course.

At this moment, Kai's mother returned to the room with a jug of water and a small cup, all in a wooden tray. She smiled at him and sat on the edge of his bed. Kasuyi managed a strained smile.

"What happened out there, Kai? The village sent out some hunters to search for you after you and the boys disappeared. They found you all unconscious, with you outside the wagon." She sent him a questioning glance with a hidden meaning underneath. Kasuyi understood it well... His 'mother', in this life, was a mage...

He sighed, feigning a look of resignation. "I have something to tell you..." He looked up at her. "I... I can use magic."

While it was untrue, it was not without basis. When the System came upon Kai, it had sensed a strong affinity for magic within him, which led to him being chosen as the host for Kasuyi's soul.

As though she expected it, Kai's mother just sighed and shook her head. "You should be more careful. I could sense the traces of magic around the wagon, with most of it concentrated around you. If the Imperial Army gets you..." Her sentence broke off and she shook her head sadly.

"I'll be careful. I promise." Although he was in control of Kai's body, Kai's emotions remained within him. He could feel the care and love Kai had toward his mother and couldn't help but express it as though he was Kai himself.

"When you recover, we can do some practice runs to know what area you're good at. But for now, just rest. I'll break the news to your father. Make sure you don't tell any of your friends." She stood up and left the room after that. Kasuyi receded into his mind to think about his situation.

After several hours of deliberation in his mind, he had finally decided.

---

Several days later...

"Kai, come in! Lunch is ready!" Kai's mother yelled from inside their small house. Kai's eyes shot open as he woke up from his light slumber. He rubbed his eyes as he got down from the hammock he had tied up in their backyard.

This was the actual Kai, not Kasuyi... After much deliberation, Kasuyi had supplemented the recovery of Kai's Tinder while guiding him from within his mind. This was akin to two people sharing one body, although Kai was in control.

Instead of interfering in this young boy's life, Kasuyi had let him lead his own path, only interfering when necessary. Of course, Kai was aware. Kasuyi had explained the situation in great detail to Kai, taking over the role of the Divine Mage System in Kai's life, making himself similar to a sub-soul. With this, he could let Kai's potential manifest, aiding him in the grand scheme of retaking his place as the greatest mage to ever walk the earth!

"Coming!" Kai yelled as he jogged over to the house. The wind ruffled his hair as he thought of the path his life was taking. Although it wasn't what he had planned, or even hoped, it was turning out to be a far more exciting path.

They would know him as the one who aided the Sorcerer Supreme in rising. Although it had taken a lot of effort on Kasuyi's part, he had convinced Kai that he was the real deal and not just a ploy for the Imperial Army to swoop down and capture his family.

With this twist in fate, his future was looking bright!
