Life as a royal was never as pretty as it seemed. On the outside, we seemed to be at ease...not a care in the world. But that's only a misleading curtain that hides what really goes on. Behind the coral palace walls, we were working on being our best for our father. My sister and I had it kind of hard. well, I did anyways. See, we were born as opposite twins. I was the dark siren and she was the light mermaid. I simply went by the name Siren. She took on the name Iridella. Equal treatment between us disappeared when we both reached the ages of 13. I was the more mistreated then my sister, which didn't seem fair to me.
"Iridella, come. Let's go and see if we can get you a bigger room. it's time we gave you one with less....clutter."
The mergoverness spoke in a sort of disgusted way when she said clutter and looked at me. She swam off with my sister and left me in our old room. Apparently merfolk here love light mermaids and dispise the darker variety of mermaids. I couldn't help that I was born like this, looking dark didn't make me evil...did it...? I was both bothered and confused with this treatment. Iridella was treated lavishly while I got merger bits here and there. Even Father.. King Titus... treated us differently in front of his subjects. I could sense in him he blamed me for mother's death because to him, Dark sirens mean death and misfortunes. I wanted to prove that I was just as good as Iridella.
