Michael
I couldn't believe my eyes when she stepped into the board room earlier. I was awestruck but still very stunned out of my mind. I couldn't have drown the dots to connect their so well appraised designer to be her. I could hardly believe my luck when I saw her.
Her grace and beauty was still as I remembered. I remembered she always complaining about short hairstyles but was mesmerized by how well the bob she had on fitted her so well. This woman was a fucking goddess. And her nickname says it for itself. My beloved Aphrodite was back to me.
"Hold on." I called out, trying to stop her rushed steps. and gratefully, she did but didn't look at me. She had been avoiding looking at me at all cost throughout the meeting which irked me to no end. How I wish she could turn those hypnotic oak brown eyes on me even if for just a second. I walked to stand before her but her face was turn to her left. "Could you at least look at me?" I pleaded.
Looking up to me with a blank face she replied. "Mr. Donovan I don't have all day to chat with you. We can do that at the next meeting."
I sighed in desperation as I threw my head back. "How long are you going to keep holding your cold facade with me?" I asked.
"I'm professional with you sir."she replied with a forced smile. I hated it. She didn't have to pretend around me. Her smile should come natural with me. It usually did before.
"This isn't about being professional, it's more of holding a personal grudge." I retorted.
"I can assure you I can perfectly distinguish the line between personal and work ethics. And I'm sure I don't need to be overly friendly with you." She replied sarcastically.
I frowned at her attitude. She always had an attitude when she gets upset. So my words did affect her after all. "I know you're still upset about the way things ended between us and..."
She released a cynical laughter, "you're so full of it." She muttered rolling her eyes. "I don't remember talking about me holding a grudge against you, Mr Donovan. So you can quit your delusional talk. That pain is long gone."
"Really?" I asked taking a step closer to her. "Is that what you really feel or is it what tell you mind so you can feel that way?" I said and her smile faltered. I inched closer to speak close to her ear and caught a whiff of her perfume. She stiffened at our close proximity. "The mind may block memories to hide the pain but the heart never never block out the way you feel about someone." I whispered. Before standing up straight, hands in my pocket, "the fact we crashed and burned our wings last time doesn't mean that was the end for us. Because I still believe in an us and I'll have you back. Even if it's the last thing I do." She looked up at me with a scowl.
"I believe you can show yourself out." She replied, her tone acidic. She turned to leave but I continued.
"I know somehow what I say still matters to you from your reactions." I said and she paused.
"What your saying right now has absolutely no relevance what so ever with the business plan." She looked at me over her shoulder.
"I know you're doing this to keep a cold facade and drive me away but it won't work. You of all people know how obstinate I can be when it comes to you." I noticed she bit her lip then looked forward. " Business plan or not I won't stop sorting out for you."
"You've said quite enough. Please leave before I call security." She said, her back to me but I could get the tremble in her voice when she spoke.
"I still love you like crazy. And I missed. So much till losing my sanity..." I stopped to breathe in. " I can't forget about you. Nor give up on you. I need so desperately... So I won't give up on you. Not in this life and definitely not in the next. Keep that in mind." I declared. I watched as her shoulders trembled be it because she was about to cry or in annoyance I couldn't tell because she faced the other direction.
"Leave." Where her last words before she left me standing in the hallway alone. I watched as her perfect figure fade in the distance with every step she took. I breathe out harshly pulling at my hair.
Why was this so hard? Why couldn't I have her?
Aisha
I hated this. Why was he so persistent?
I angrily stormed into my office and shot the door angrily.
"That costs a lot."
I shrieked, and jumped at the unexpected voice. My back pressed up to the door with my hand on my mouth and the other on my erratic heart.
"Sorry, I had no intentions to startle you." Javier apologized.
I scowled at him. "Why would you come and sit in my empty office? Ofcourse I had be scared." I snapped.
"Wow someone's testy today. Did your fiancée refuse to spend the night with you?"
I sighed, "I'm sorry. It's just really not my day today."
He stood up to come sit on the desk. "Well Mondays are hardly anyone's favourite but your entire demeanor changed when you saw that guy. I mean you literally froze Infront of everyone. I was a little worried."
"I'm so sorry I bothered you. It's nothing."
"You ladies always down play things when they are infact serious by saying it's nothing or it's ok when it isn't so tell me." He declared.
I rolled my eyes and collapsed into the office chair at the opposite side of my desk.
I licked my dry lips before talking. "He's my ex." I stated dryly as I rubbed my forehead.
"I'm sorry what now?" He said in utter disbelieve.
I didn't speak for some time. Just looked away.
"Oh my God. You're serious." He said still wide eyed.
"Why would you think I had be sarcastic about something like that?" I asked puzzled.
"Because sarcasm and sass is kinda your second nature." He said in a duh tone.
I sighed and rolled my eyes."well I'm serious." I replied. "Not that our relationship is something shameful but it didn't particularly end well." I said with crossword arms.
"You say is like you two are still a thing." He said and I scowled at him. "Sorry." He apologized.
"Like I said,... it's something I don't particularly like talking about nor thinking about. So please can we drop the topic?" I pleaded, massaging my temple.
"Ok. But you'll need to release all that pent up negative energy in you. And know I'm always here for you. Not just as your boss but I'm prone to say we're friends."
"Thank you Javy." I said resting in his embrace. "You're so kind."
"I know." He said with a smile
"Why don't you have a girlfriend again?" I asked quizzically.
"Because nursing your over-grown self is exhausting."he replied and I slapped his arm and he laughed.
"But seriously though... I can't deal with one because I can focus on just one woman at a time." He replied with a wink.
"Yeah right." I chuckled.
He stood up to leave and straightened his suit. "Well as much as I love being with you I got work to return to. So,... catch you later. "He said kissing my forehead.
"Sure later." I said with a grin.
God I need a nap.
