Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Birds, Birds, and Even More Birds

On the cliff, Freidrich watches over the battle. He shuts his eyes and takes a deep breath. He mumbles,

"Search. Raven of Thought, Huginn... Recall. Raven of Memory, Muninn..."

In the air above Freidrich, two points begin to transform. Freidrich thinks,

"I didn't think I'd need to make use of them, but it looks like that's just how dire the situation has gotten..."

The air circulates in a spherical shape as it quickly flashes and becomes two barely visible, beady-eyed birds. They lower and perch themselves on each of Freidrich's shoulders.

Despite having a solid shape, the birds are made of wind and air. They have almost clear bodies and are invisible to others unless seen from very close.

The two ravens look practically the same except for one detail. Huginn has longer features like long claws, a long beak, and a long tail, while Muninn has short features like short claws, a short beak, and a short tail.

Turning his head to the right, towards Huginn, Freidrich whispers,

"How is it looking down there?"

Huginn opens its mouth as a small spark travels from the tip of its claws to the back of Freidrich's head. Freidrich's eyes sharpen slightly as he thinks,

"I see... Six bosses have arrived on the battlefield... One in Areas 1-4 and two in Area 5. Alvard, Rigurd, and Gremly should be enough for the ones in Area 1, 2, and 3. I'm a little worried for Area 4, but I think Area 5 should be fine as well."

Now tilting his head in the other direction, towards Muninn, he inquires,

"Do you have any information on the new enemies?"

The same spark travels to Freidrich's head as he now thinks,

"A [Panthera], a [Dullahan], a [Fire Elemental], a [Warlock], a [Kobold], and a [Arachnid]... And all quite powerful ones as well... If it gets too rough, we might need to call for help. I'm sure the King has already thought of that, however..."

Beside him, Alizandria asks,

"Is there anything bothering you, Freidrich? You seem to have a troubled expression"

Interrupting himself, Freidrich glances over and responds,

"Oh, there's nothing. No need to worry."

Alizandria responds,

"Is that so? That's good."

Freidrich whispers to Huginn and Muninn,

"That's enough for now. Good work."

The ravens fly away, disappearing into the sky. On the outskirts of the 3rd District, Gremly looks downward, tilting her head slowly, as a figure enters her view.

With the flame lighting the area and the temperature quickly rising, a singular being stands in the middle of it. A small, round bird, the size of a coconut looks back up at Gremly.

It has bright, orange feathers, short stubby legs, and a little ruffle at the top of its head in the shape of a flame. Above it, a name reads,

[Timmy the Chickadee]

Stopping herself from laughing, Gremly says,

"Y-You did this? Th-That's pretty impressive..!"

Timmy opens its beak and shouts back in a high-pitched voice,

"What!? You lookin' down on me!?"

Hearing its voice, Gremly bursts into laughter.

Very angry, Timmy shouts in its screechy voice,

"What's so funny!?"

Taking deep breaths to calm herself, Gremly responds,

"N-Nothing! Pff... Nothing at all..!"

She mumbles,

"I thought I was gonna be fighting someone cooler..."

Like a speaker, Timmy exclaims,

"What was that!? You wanna fight!? I'll give you a fight!"

Still holding in her laughter, Gremly squats down and tries poking at Timmy with one of her daggers. Coming closer with her tip, it slices through Timmy.

Surprised, she screams,

"Noo! It was even weaker than I thought! My knife went through like butter! ...I'm gonna miss you, Timmy..."

Completely unharmed, Timmy retorts,

"Weaker than you thought!? You're really pushing it, missy!"

Even more surprised, Gremly shouts,

"Whaat!?"

She quickly steps back, pulling her dagger as it is lit on fire. She frantically drops it and steps on it to douse the flame.

As she picks it back up, the blade has been burnt as it sports a black color. Gremly asks,

"H-How did you do that!?"

Angrily, Timmy answers,

"Who do you think I am!? I'm Timothy! The strongest [Fire Elemental]! I'm much stronger than you, missy!"

Tilting her head, she mumbles,

"Timothy..? I thought it was Timmy?"

Timmy interrupts,

"Timmy is short for Timothy, you dunce!"

Thinking really hard, Gremly mentions,

"You said something about strongest fire elemental, right? Are you really the strongest?... I mean... You are a little... y'know..."

Getting annoyed, Timmy questions,

"A little what!?"

Like it was common knowledge, Gremly answers,

"'You're little."

Its tone becoming serious, Timmy mumbles,

"You're all the same... Judging based on looks... Looking down on me since I have a small stature... Didn't they ever tell you not to 'judge a book by its cover'... Nevermind that... It's too late for you anyways..."

Timmy's bird eyes are dyed a bright tangerine color as it begins to grow.

Towering over Gremly like a gigantic castle, she looks at the enormous round bird. The ground beneath it burns quickly, turning into charred terrain.

Gremly looks upward, shocked and terrified.
