Beneath, beasts of varying sizes wander. They trample the ground, their sunken footprints imposing themselves into the earth. Their large figures, menacing and slightly illuminated by the moon.
As they walk, low grunts trickle from their mouths, resonating in the stony formations. Though looking small from above, the monsters all average a height of 18ft or 540cm, easily tripling Saiba's size.
On their faces, a scruff beard sits, surrounding their shrewd, vicious expressions. Their eyes, menacingly sharp, and their ears, perked up, listening to the faintest movements.
Their arms are large and well-built. They look capable of crushing big boulders. The rest of their bodies have a similar burliness as their strength makes an impact to all those who attempt to fight them.
Saiba stares down and shouts in his mind,
"G-G-G-Giants!"
He thinks,
"They look strong! Stronger than anything I've faced before! They could probably knock me out by just tapping me."
He turns around, dashes back to the class, before dashing back to the edge. He mumbles,
"What do I do... I don't wanna get the kids involved, but I don't think I can beat them on my own either... I should get the teacher's help..."
Suddenly, he gets shocked as he feels a tap on his shoulder. Jumping up, he begins falling forward. While falling, Saiba thinks,
"This is it. This is where it ends. Even if I don't die to the fall, the giants are gonna kill me. I never got to say bye to anyone. I never got to complete my grand quest either. Well, I'm sure someone else can do it for me. Goodbye world."
With no hope left and the high drop awaiting him, someone suddenly grabs his cape.
Saiba looks up and sees Gram at the other end. Gram has an interesting expression as the limits of his strength are being tested. Gram's arms looks as though they are about to be pulled off.
He shouts down,
"I... can't hold on for much longer!"
Quickly thinking, Saiba grabs his weapon and lodges it into the side of the mountain. Using it as a hold, he begins climbing back up.
Finally reaching the plateau, Gram gives one last strong pull, flinging Saiba onto solid ground. Both lean back, panting and tired. Saiba says,
"Thanks Gram... I almost died..."
Gram replies,
"D-Don't worry about it..."
He continues,
"What are those things down there!?"
Saiba replies,
"I'm pretty sure they're giants. We're not strong enough to take them on our own, so we should get help from the teachers."
Suddenly, a shiny man approaches from behind. Robbie shouts,
"What's this about some strong giants? You think we can't take them by ourselves? You're underestimating us, newbie!"
Shouting to the sleeping class, he exclaims,
"Wake up, guys! We got some big ones walking around down there! Let's go take 'em out!"
One by one, the students begin waking up and congregating in a large group. Under the leadership of Robbie, they venture out towards the giants.
At the plateau, all that's left are Saiba, Gram, Rosco, and Rose. Saiba tells Rose,
"Hey you! You're #1 here, right? Go tell them to come back! Those giants are way too strong for them! There's no way they'll make it back alive!"
Rose replies,
"Even I could tell those monsters' strength far surpass any of those in our class. I wish I could convince them, but it's too late now."
Saiba thinks,
"Those monkeys... I gotta keep them safe... Ms. Isabelle trusted me..."
Looking around at what remains of the class, he announces,
"I have a plan!"
The scenery shifts to the band of students marching their way towards the towering beasts. Suddenly, Gram shouts,
"O-Oh no! There's a monster! He's gonna get me! Help!"
Robbie stops along with the others. He shouts,
"Well look who it is! Little Gwam! He's too scared to fight a monster! Don't worry, we'll help you! After watching you get beat up..."
They turn around and notice Gram, all alone, no monsters in sight. Once again, Robbie shouts,
"Huh!? There's nothing here!"
Suddenly, from behind, a man mumbles,
"Flame Wall."
Along with it, a wall of flame erupts, cutting off the students' path. Robbie exclaims,
"Wh-What's this!? Who's doing this!?"
From behind Gram, Rosco steps out and says,
"Sorry guys, road ends here."
Now, another voice chants,
"Plant Magic: Root Binding Prison."
From the ground, roots sprout up, encompassing the students. They get locked up, the plants tightly coiling themselves around their bodies.
Looking down from the plateau, Saiba and Rose stand. Rose mumbles,
"Your plan worked. Well done."
Saiba replies,
"Of course it did! I'm the legendary hero of Estrelia, after all!"
He remembers his plan,
"First, use Gram as bait. They love making fun of him, and this a prime opportunity. Second, use Rosco's fire to block their path. I trust him enough. Last, use Rose's skill to trap them. She can probably handle them all."
Quickly remembering, he asks,
"What about Gordie?"
Rose responds,
"He'll understand."
With his plan set in motion, Saiba walks towards the mountain's edge. He shouts,
"Well, it's my turn now! Take care of them for me!"
Rose calls out,
"Are you sure you will be okay by yourself?"
Saiba simply gives her a thumbs up before taking the plunge and jumping into the unknown.
