"Okay, here goes nothing," I say, dialing another hotline number. "This the forth one I'm calling." I glance down at Silena and Danny sitting on my bedroom floor.
"This is Aggie on the Fandom Hotline where you're fandom gushings and blabbering is accepted and reciprocated. How can I help you?"
I freeze. "You're a girl?" I ask stupidly.
The person on the other end agrees. "Yes, or at least I was last time I checked."
"And this is a Fandom Hotline... can you hold on a second." I put my phone down on the bed and lean down to crush Silena into a bone-crushing hug. "You are the bestest friend ever."
I quickly pick up the phone. "Sorry about that. I just cannot believe there is a hotline for fandoms," I manage to screech out. "So wait, your job is to what, just talk to people about fandoms? 'Cause that must be pretty awesome!"
"Basically, sometimes people call to settle an argument about a fandom, gush about the many ships and talk about their favourite fandoms and to just be accepted," Aggie replies. "Plus. . . the money is pretty good for this being a part time job."
"Nice. So you're an expert at all fandoms?"
"Of course not. If I don't like or know much about the fandom the caller calls about I pass down the call to one of the other operators that do."
"Oh my god! Then I have got so much to talk to you about! Do you like Harry Potter?"
"I love it," she replies.
"Percy Jackson?"
"Fuck yes! And all the other series by Rick Riordan."
"Yeah," I agree immediately, "he is one awesome writer. Ooooh, what about the Lunar Chronicles?"
"Yes! Thorne is definitely my favourite character."
"Hmm, mine is Scarlet. How about Supernatural and Friends?" I ask.
"Double yes! Dean is a hottie and Chandler is a whole mood."
I squeel. "I can't believe this is happening 'cause that's exactly what I say about those two." I laugh. "Okay. . .how about Maze Runner?"
Aggie is quiet for a breath. "Yeah. . . no."
"Thank goodness. I'm not a fan of the series either . It's just not for me."
"Same here. It is just no for me. Now I have a question for you. Do you like the Avengers?"
"Yeah! I love all the Marvel movies! Aggie, do you wanna marry me because I think I love you."
She starts laughing . "Hold your horses, Chica. I don't even know your name yet and you don't know my full name either."
After an hour of discussing Ginny not needing to be Harry Potter's girlfriend and that Harry would have been better of without a relationship in the series and talking about our mutual ship for Elsa and Jack Frost, we end the call. But only after we exchange personal contact details.
I leave my room to find my brother and Silena. They both left my room after I dissed Maze Runner because they're both fans.
I find them making breakfast for dinner in the kitchen. Silena is flipping pancakes while Daniel is setting the table. "I can't believe there was Fandom Hotline. Agatha says it started a couple of years ago."
"Agatha?" asks Daniel.
"Aggie's full name is Agatha. She is so amazing."
Silena and Daniel share a smile. "You may not have found a 'Hawt" guy but you did make a friend," Silena says.
