Finding the copy room was a cinch as she already had the floor plans, memorized. While waiting for her files to photocopy she started to think back to a while ago in the office.
[FLASHBACK]
'' I like my coffee black, two sugars no cream with a hint of cinnamon and a sprig of mint. On Tuesdays I wear black, on Friday I wear blue, my preferred choice in suits is a three piece, you will need to remember that if we have to go to an event and I have nothing to wear, you will be given a company card and that will be for emergencies, you will be notified three days in advance if and when we will be travelling out out the country. I suggest you get your passports and shots. "
"Remember always bring allergy medication, as some of the places being visited would have exotic food and drinks. Bring...." " He paused to look at me. " Aren't you supposed to be writing this all down, I told you i hate repeating myself" " Amber then looked at her boss before showing him her phone." Why are you showing me this?" "he asked "Amber replied, " I cant write as fast as you are speaking so i am recording what you ay instead, when I need to reference I will consult the voice notes".
" Glancing down at her Liam thought to him self " Not just a smart mouth huh". Nodding he continued to dictate his needs".
[END OF FLASHBACK]
Collecting the files, Amber headed off and delivered them where they were supposed to be. After doing so she made he way back to his office and knocked on the door.
Hearing a reply, she went in. " Sir " she said " I have finished printing out the files you requested, also I have sent them to their respective parties per your request.
Giving Amber a stack of files he told her " conduct background checks on these people and see if their companies, are legit. when you have that information proceed to return these files to me and then set appointments with those I have chosen.''
Amber returned to her station, and then as she was setting up she saw a picture of Natalie and what she assumed to be her husband. For a minute she looked at the picture and wondered how she and her baby was doing. Shaking her head, she went back to work.
Several hours later, she went back to her bosses office, and gave him the files. The next ten minutes were spent with her explaining what companies were legit and which were not. After he had concluded looking through the list that she presented him, he then told her which ones he wanted to be affiliated with.
The next two hours were spent with her making phones call and setting appointments.
Liam stretched and turned to look at the view through his window, the Brooklyn skyline smiled at him as he saw the last of the setting sun. He packed up his briefcase and stepped out of his office, seeing her still at work a small mile graced his handsome face. Walking up to her he said " Ms. Adair, the work day has needed you can go home now" then he turned to leave.
"Sir" Amber called. He turned around around. "Regarding this morning's incident, I was wondering if I will still have a job available tomorrow?"
"Don't you think you did anything wrong?" he asked. "No sir" she replied. " You insulted your superior in front of his employees. he brashly asked. " With all due respect sir, I was not your employee at the time, also you threw a chair through a wall which resulted in getting it replaced not to mention, scaring Mrs. Talbot so much that she bled and had to be taken to the hospital!"
"Even so this is my company, how i run my company, and what i do are my business" he said exasperatedly.
"Not when your actions threatened the lives of your employees. What would you have done if the chair had hit Natalie and her baby?" she said.
" I still stand by my actions and besides she's fine now no one got hurt, right" he said.
"Right " Amber said. " This time".
Looking at the stubborn woman in front of him, Liam realized that there would be no winning this one. Running his hands through his hair he said" is there any way you could agree with me on this. NO one was hurt, if someone was I would just compensate."
"If I agree..." Amber started to say. " See" he said " You agree".
"You didn't let me finish sir." like I was saying, "if I agree we would both be wrong".
Blowing exasperatedly through his nose he turned to leave.
"Sir you haven't answered my question ."
"What question"
"Do I still have my job?"
Facing her he said " report to work first thing Monday and I expect you here at seven with my coffee waiting hot and you with my schedule. Tardiness will not be tolerated". With that he left.
Smiling, Amber, finished packing her stuff and went home. As she crashed on her bed her mind kept replaying what had happened. Shaking those thoughts from her head, she quickly fell asleep.
