Chapter 35 - Dungeon of Flames

After leaving that building which I'm guessing is the guild recruitment building or something, I made my way towards another rural part of the city. Based on where the other F Rank dungeon was, another one should be in the same type of environment.

After walking for 30 minutes or so, I reached another rural part of the city that had barely anyone living there. After looking around for a few seconds, I noticed 2 things. One, that around 10 people are following me and they seem way stronger than the other assassins that came after me. Two, that the other F Rank dungeon I was looking for was indeed in this place. It stood out like a site thumb in this place as everything else was broken down and the dungeon had a bright red light coming from it.

After seeing this, I quickly made my way over to the dungeon and entered it. While going into the dungeon, a question had popped up in my head. 'Why was I allowed to leave the other dungeon without beating the boss? Maybe the assassins already did?' I thought to myself as I slowly observed my surroundings. Instead of worrying about that, I had to focus because those 10 people behind me were way stronger than the previous assassins.

I quickly hid behind an unusually warm rock and waited for the assassins to come into the dungeon.

After about a minute, all 10 of the assassins entered the dungeon. A few of them immediately stood out to me as they were just as bulky as the man back in the previous dungeon.

Instead of picking them off one by one, let's see how I fare against all 10 of them, shall we?

I quickly cast [Hall of Flames] and [Flame Vortex], catching the assassins by surprise. Although none of them died, it looked like I severely injured maybe one or two.

"Who's there? Is it the kid?" One of the bulky men said while looking around. Although he had incredible muscles, it seemed like he had a brain unlike the guy in the previous dungeon.

Since I've been using fire magic a lot recently, I switched to dark magic. And after using [Halo of Darkness], I noticed that it's basically like a 'mode' that increases the damage my dark magic does.

After activated [Halo of Darkness], a hole made completely of dark magic had materialized over my head while giving off an ominous feeling towards others. And instead of waiting for the assassins to find out my location, I quickly cast [Orbital Rupture], a spell I bought from the shop that cost 1000 Credits, r.i.p my balance.

After casting [Orbital Rupture], dark spikes made their appearance from all sides that connected together many times; forming dozens of circles. And if someone were to look at the spikes from above, it would look like a bunch of pits to hell. The bulky assassins were too big to dodge the spikes while the slim ones hardly broke a sweat. Some of the spikes stabbed into the legs of the bulky assassins which was good since they wouldn't be able to move quickly.

"Actually, let's just get rid of all the guys with muscles," I mumbled to myself as I stood and walked away from the rock I was hiding behind, thus revealing my location. Although I revealed my location, I couldn't understand how none of them didn't think that I would be behind the rock.

"So it was the kid, attack!" One of the idiot assassins shouted as the bulky ones tried to run at me completely disregarding the gaping holes in their legs. It was weird how they could even do that, but after paying attention to their condition, I noticed something.

It looked like their bodies were wrapped in a thin light red aura, so it was probably some type of berserk ability. Instead of observing more, I cast [Flame Vortex] which sucked one of the men up immediately. Since all the men were in their berserk mode, they were basically a bunch of dogs, so they barely cared about their comrade dying.

Even though it barely took a second for them to get near me, I still cast [Flame Vortex] and [Flame Blade] so that they wouldn't be able to run anymore and would be sucked up into the vortex of mysterious flames.

After all of them died, 5 notifications appeared while I also could see the shocked faces of the other assassins as they stared at me.

I quickly cast [Flame Blade] at them so that they wouldn't be able to run, and since some of them were sticking to the wall like spiders, they helplessly fell down while thinking they were going to be sucked into a vortex of flames. But instead of casting [Flame Vortex] after they fell, I cast [Orbital Rupture] which was way more brutal as the spikes penetrated their entire bodies, killing them immediately.

After they all died helplessly and in mere seconds too, I received 5 more notifications which put me in a good mood.

After killing all of the assassins, I gleefully made my way deeper into the dungeon to see what monsters I would be facing, although I didn't care as much because they were probably not as strong as the assassins that followed me into the 'Dungeon of Despair'.

After walking for a few minutes, I came across what looked to be lions, but a few times bigger than usual and also had 'flaming eyebrows' and its tail and back were also on fire.

Instead of wasting any time, I quickly cast [Fire Blade] at its neck. and even though it was of the fire element, it was completely helpless against the fast and sharp blade of fair aiming at its neck. And in a few seconds, the lion was beheaded.

"Inspect, name only please."

[Flaming Lion]

"Wow, who would have guessed..." I said to myself while staring at the name of the monster. I then continued going deeper into the dungeon and after a few seconds, I encountered 4 of those 'Flaming Lions', and they all met their fate in mere seconds.

Based on the power of these monsters, I don't think I'll be going to any more of the F Rank dungeons, well, there's only 1 left anyway, but still. The monsters in this dungeon were incredibly weak so it looks like I need to go to a higher-tier dungeon after this.

--30 Minutes Later--

After around 30 minutes, I finally arrived at the boss room which surprised me because I didn't think there would be that many monsters in this dungeon.

As I went through the door, once again, like last time(in the dungeon in the village), the doors slammed shut after I was inside. After turning around to see what I was facing, I was greeted with a gigantic...cat? The cat had half of its body completely engrossed in flames, yet it didn't look like it was in pain at all.

"Inspect, everything," I said as I stared at the boss in front of me. And after testing the 'Inspect' function a few times, I figured out that I could inspect certain things about the monster I'm looking at.

[Chian'ka, Blazing Cat]

[Attack: 3,000]

[Defense: 1,000]

[Speed: 4,000]

---

Why do I feel that this boss is way stronger than the one back in the village? And it also has a name? Instead of letting me think, the cat dashed at me with incredible speed, although to me it wasn't anything surprising.

I quickly dodged the cat's attack, and activated [Beast Transformation], transforming my arms. After investigating what monster had arms like these, I found out that these arms belong to the 'Lingerer' race. A hard-to-kill race that boasts incredible power, and the worst thing about them is that after you kill them, there's a 20% chance that they come back to life with 60% of their stats. This is why most hunters that encounter them either don't come back alive because it took them everything to kill a 'Lingerer' once, or they make it back severely injured with missing limbs.
