Gary knocked on Melody's door the next day, Melody said "come in" not leaving the window. Gary went to the window as well to look out it, nothing but a grave yard.
"Emily stopped by yesterday, we chatted a little. She told me what happened. Although I have ask you if I want know more." "I guess I'll answer a few."
"now alright?" "When you used his name before was it because you missed him, a way to remember him?" "Yes in some way, I was seven when he died. So I don't remember much about him accept when he played with him, read to me, did karate, and watch tv. I only remember what he looks like by looking at photos." "How old was he when-" "He was about twelve." "You don't talk to your family aside from Emily?" "Yeah. Last I tried talk or see them was about four years ago. To dad that was his precious son, nearly forgot us and then if I gave a certain expression I look like him. Dad couldn't take it neither could mom, so I moved into my grandparent's house for a few months, it probably lasted for about a month or two. I had the feeling they were blaming me for his death." "Was it your fault?" "Yeah in some way. I went out in the road to get my ball there was no cars coming, but then here comes this car speeding down our road, Wade ran out pushing me out of the way." "So he got hit instead." "Yeah." "You ask for the same room every year, why?" "It's so I can see my family and in some way visit with them in spirit. I'll visit Wade in person later when they're gone." "Won't they think you don't care about them or your brother?" "I know, but It's their choice to believe whatever they want to." Nothing was said even Gary couldn't think of any more questions to ask. Instead Gary was thinking to talk to Melody's family and see what they think of her.
"You don't need to be here." "Are you sure?" "Go sightseeing or shopping if you want." Gary got up from the chair and left the room. When Gary reached the entrance way he texted Emily to see about meeting up somewhere like Starbucks or Mcdonalds. Emily agreed to meet up at Starbucks in thirty minutes.
Emily and Gary met up at Starbucks to talk about Melody. Gary even wondered if they could do something to get Melody and the family to meet and talk or let the family know how Melody feels. Both Gary and Emily did indeed come up with a plan in which will be done later.
Emily left to meet up with her family while Gary went back to the hotel to Melody's room. "I thought you went shopping or sightseeing." "I did, but I'm back. It wasn't the same as it is with you and the others." Melody didn't say nothing but continued to look out the window.
About an hour or two later Melody said "that's my family there." Gary came to the window and saw her family, Emily being amongst them as well looked up to the window like every year she has done. Sometime later the family was leaving, but Emily told them to go to the hotel that she has something there for them. Once they arrived at the hotel Lauren Carter, the innkeeper took them to Gary's empty room. Several minutes later both Melody and Gary left, "I'll be there soon I left something important in my room." "Okay."
Gary went back up to his room while Melody made her way to the cemetry. "Everyone this is Gary, he's Melody's friend." "So?" Said the father. "Where's Melody?" Asked the grandparents. "Probably some place shopping or working." "Father Melody-" "Mr. Gardner, everyone Melody is here. She doesn't know what Emily and I planned. Emily take over while I meet and visit your brother." Emily only nodded.
Gary left while Emily took her father, grandparents, and uncle across the hall to Melody's room. "Look out the window." Everyone gathered by the window and looked out, "she's here every year. Melody books this room every year for the same day(s) so she can visit." "But we don't see-" said her uncle. "She watches from this window, waiting for us to leave and then about five minutes later she'll come out and visit Wade herself and then leave." "Leave to where?" "Well Uncle Ronnie she'll leave to where ever she lives. Right now she lives with that guy and four of his friends, they're nice." "She lives with a fella?!" "Yes grandma she does. She lives with five of them, but before that she and I lived together until right before I moved to great aunt to help her." Emily then told them what happened; when everyone looked back out the window Melody and Gary were gone. "They're coming up to get their things which is in this room." "Are they dating?" "No father they're not. Gary and I thought it'll be easier for them to grab their stuff once and hopefully you all talk with Melody that is if you guys talk.
