Marcus fled like a scared rabbit, running and jumping up gates while passing through alleyways. He only saw one thing, and that was escape. Marcus stopped in an alley; he took in heavy breaths as he wiped his sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. Marcus was adamant with his choice, his choice to run away… and so he ran as far as he could, and never looked back, and just like that, his life flashed before his eyes when he crossed the road...
Marcus was someone that did not like to be chained down, he did not like the rules of the school, he even hated his mom because she enforced the same rules as the school. And so, to be free from the chains, he ran away. Looking away from his mother that deeply cared for him by antagonizing her. And doing so, made him look like a fool towards the gods.
Marcus awakes, he looks around, but a sudden sharp pain is felt from below. He looks down and pulls the blanket only to reveal legs that were twisted beyond comparison. At that moment, something came to his mind, "we hunger in earnest for that which we cannot consume." he laughed. He made a laugh that could be heard out of the hospital room. Doctors came in and tried to hold him down, but he only cackled at the sky.
And so, the little bird with its clipped off wings never saw the freedom it desired. It stayed there dead as night, waiting for its wings to grow back, but deep down it knew it would never happen.
