Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Months later Mr. O'Haren called a staff meeting, "Now this staff meeting as you know is about a recreational center in South Carolina. And I know you all know I'm sending someone their to help, give me the progress report, and such; so in any case I'm sending Maria Johnson. Maria you'll be staying at the Beach Resort Hotel for a few weeks, it might be longer depending on the progress. Thank you. Dismiss, go back to work please." Maria didn't say much about this, all I know is that she's leaving in a few days.

The day came, Maria is all packed. "Seems I'm going be here alone, without no friend across the hall to say too take a break." She chuckled, "Don't worry, I'll be back in no time besides we can text and call each other after all your my best friend." Sounds like a mother daughter thing doesn't it, but close friends like Maria and I are best friends who knew each other since middle school. "Be safe, Maria." Waving bye, Maria got in a cab to the airport. Some hours in the air and Maria is finally in South Carolina, she got her bags and got a cab to Beach Resort Hotel. Maria called Hillary as promised, "Hey Hillary." "Hi. You made it safely, I'm glad; anything can happen to an airplane like it could catch fire or stop working and fall." "Yes I made it safely and I know that, I'm going to relax today tomorrow I'll work." "Ok." "Uh Hillary got call you back I'm at the hotel." "Ok." Maria paid the driver got her bags and checked in, the hotel was nice, not to fancy, but still nice. Maria went up to her room, unpacked, and then went out to explore and buy a gift or two for Hillary, since she wasn't sure she'll have down time. The beach and being on the pier looking at the scenery was indeed nice.

She got back to the hotel to dine in, eating a warm dinner- mashed potatoes with corn and pork covered with cream of mushroom and of course glass of water. It got dark fast, the beach was so tranquil and peaceful looking that Maria took a flashlight and walked down to walk little of the shore. Beautiful night too no clouds or rain just stars, "how nice it is out here." She said to herself, "indeed" Someone said, Maria turned around a little to see a guy standing behind her near a light post. "Oh-uh hello there." "You can see me?" "Y-Yes." "Huh, interesting.. people can't see me." "What you mean? You're a person like everyone else." "I may be a person, but people can't see me because I'm a ghost." Maria never laugh, but surprisingly she did to such a silly answer. "Sorry about that.. just that I don't believe in ghosts. Can you prove you are?" "Its fine, oh that's interesting yet you see me. Yes I can prove I'm a ghost What hotel are you staying at and your room number? I'm going to disappear before your eyes and appear in your room. Maria gave him the info and said "as i-" before she could finish her sentence, instantly the person disappeared, she ran to her room to find him; "Hi, do you believe me now?" Maria said "meep" while nodding. "Eh since you can see and hear me and I'm here you want chat about what ever? I may be a ghost, but I'm still a person who likes to talk though its hard to talk too people who can't see or hear you." "Well... I have work tomorrow, but ok remember though I'm gonna need some sleep.. must be lonely and frustrating knowing there's no one to talk too." "Yeah it is, but I'm glad your here. You can see and hear me so we can talk." Hours of talking, it was midnight when they saw the time, Maria went to bed while the ghost watched her sleep.

Beep, beep, beep; annoying alarm clock. "Ugh. I never thought I would never want go to work like today." "Why?" Maria looked around, "I remember now, I stayed up with that ghost. Wonder where he went off too... Well I'm not going get to work this way." "That ghost! I'm right here. Hello! You don't see me now? Ah your getting dress, I don't want to be a pervert." The ghost left while Maria got dressed. Maria was at the recreational center seeing the progress, but wasn't alone the ghost was their. Sadly Maria didn't hear or see him till she was heading toward the hotel, "hm another starry night like last night." "Yeah it is." Maria jumped for being startled, "You. Do you like scaring me?" "Oh, you see me now?" "Of course I do. Remember what I said last night." "Yeah I remember. I was with you all day, but you didn't see or hear me. And another thing my name is Parker, so you don't need call me that ghost or you." Maria was in her hotel room when she screamed in a low voice, "I said that dis-morning... were you here when I changed?" "I left when you went into the bathroom, I figure you'd dress and don't want some spying pervert. I respect people even though they can't see me." Maria smiled, "Oh. Well lets talk some more, I had fun talking last night." "Really? Ok." "Mhm, just sit on the bed while I go change into pajamas ok." "Alright." While Maria was in the bathroom, Parker talked... "You know if you didn't see and or hear me today then that's going to be the same tomorrow." "Yeah, I suppose so. Wonder why?" Maria came out as Parker started to speak "I'll find out tomorrow, so I might not be by your side to see you work." "How are you going to find out?" "I can talk to a friend of mine, so no worries." "Kay." Another night where they chatted till midnight or one in the morning.

While Maria was at work, Parker was at the ghost library looking for information. Still at the library, found only one book that had something, but the pages.. It was night and Maria was watching television waiting for Parker's return, an hour into the movie and Parker finally appears. "So what did you find out" "I was at a ghost library. Nothing, their was only one book I could find and it was missing pages and some were colored on." "Oh." "Don't sound too sad I'm not giving up yet. Elder John might know, he knows everything about us ghost, humans, history and such. I'll go see him tomorrow. As for now we can talk if you want too." "Mhm. There's an elder ghost? Interesting. Yeah, just sit and talk with me." "Yes, I suppose it is interesting, but at least we ghosts know where to go if its not at our library. ok."
