Chapter 21 - A Turn of Events

Doctor Ingemar ordered that I lay on my new mattress as much as possible to refrain from provoking any more attacks. They have gotten so bad now that I actually can provoke them by doing a strenuous activity such as jumping. I'm laying on my mattress tracing my finger in the dust when my door opens,

"Honey, I'm home!" Crynn calls, I sit up.

"You know you don't have to do that," Crynn gives me a cheeky smile,

"I know, but it's just so fun!" He sobers, "How are you?"

"Never been better."

"Raylee…"

"Don't "Raylee" me, you're not my Father! Seriously Crynn, I'm fine! The bindings are magicked by Doctor Ingemar so I don't feel any of the pain." I don't remember it either but he doesn't have to know that,

"So you're really not fine, you just have Wavie magic hiding it."

"Why are you here?" I give him a dirty look.

"Well the gang and I decided to break you out on Saturday." I stare at him blankly,

"Let me write that down on my calendar, oh wait! I don't have one."

"Oh! Saturday is tomorrow. We're getting you out sooner because the attacks are getting worse and I don't want you to die." His voice cracks,

"I won't die! Don't worry, I'll be ready tomorrow. Do you guys know where Snowbird's cell is?" He nods.

"In the basement?"

"Yeah, if I'm not here go to her. She's more important than me and whatever you do, don't touch her. Got it?"

"No! I'm not leaving you! I'll look-"

"No. Leave me. If I'm not here then I'm probably having an attack and it would be too dangerous for you to bring me. You'll have to come back another day."

Crynn nods sadly. The door to my hall opens,

"Crynn you have to go! I love you."

"I love you too."

And he's gone. A fleet of guards marches up to my bars,

"You are being relocated to a more comfortable cell."

With no invitation, the guards rush in, grab me, and my mattress, then rush out.

I know where they're taking me. I should have suspected when Ingemar was giving me that whole speech about how my death would be better for all of us. The elevator dings as we reach the final floor, the basement where they keep Snowbird. I'm kept outside her door while my mattress is chucked in. Apparently, I have one last visit before they're restricted. I'm shoved into a small, black room with no windows. Inside is a woman wearing a stylish form-fitting grey dress showing her generous cleavage. The door slams behind me and the woman turns to me, she snaps her fingers and a large flame floats in her palm, illuminating the bottom half of her face. Her plump pink lips twist into a smile, her long dark red hair dangles.

"Ah, Raylee, look how beautiful you've turned out." Her voice is melodious, who is she?

"Who are you?"

"No one really knows, most assume they know who I am, while to others, I'm a faceless name." The model-like woman grins and shows off her perfect white teeth.

"But it's only polite to introduce myself, you may call me Ms. Jax Candice."
