A while ago, I released part of my control so now I'm floating around the hall and my empty cell while Crynn scars the ground with his electricity. The last time I checked he was drawing some kind of mountain scenery. Does Prenford have mountains? I can't remember.
The door to my hall squeaks open and six kids are shoved through, the guards must think that because I'm outnumbered I couldn't beat them, they must think I'm weak. In my head, I laugh at their underestimation of me. I'm floating upside down with my legs crossed, but when Crynn's friends come in I quickly flip right side up again and stand on the ground normally at Earth's natural gravitational force of 1g. I stand awkwardly--with a head rush--in front of Crynn's friends, not knowing what to do.
"Hey, guys! Come on in! Make yourself at home!" Crynn calls from the floor behind me. I back up so that I'm standing behind Crynn, trying not to make it obvious that I'm using him as a shield. My popular little brother stands up and gives them all a hug and starts talking with them about who knows what. I noticed a short girl hiding in her light grey hoodie watching me, she caught my eye and blushed, looking away. Crynn must have remembered my existence because he lets out an enlightened noise then turns to me.
"Raylee these are my friends from school, they've agreed to help." He walks over to a tall boy with curly brown hair sticking out of his dark grey hoodie. The boy has pale skin like it's never seen the light and glittery brown eyes, earrings sparkle from his ears. Based on his attire, I can tell he's got a gothic style. As gothic as you can get with the strict "grey clothes only" law. Crynn puts his arm around the boy's shoulders and rocks him to the side.
"Ray, this is Arrow. He's obviously a Rockie, and this is," Crynn lets go and twirls over to a shorter boy standing a person away from Arrow. The short boy is wearing a light grey t-shirt that exposes his long neck, the sides of his head are buzzed short but thick, wavy pink hair sits on top. He has stylish black earrings and light green eyes full of mischief, the boy's skin is light and almost blends in with his hair.
"This is Gabriel, and he's a Greenie." Gabriel smiles at me and winks. I awkwardly smile and wave, he laughs. Gabriel has a good laugh, it's not mocking or shy, it's big, loud, and jolly. His laugh makes me smile for real this time.
Next Crynn moves to the person standing in between Arrow and Gabriel. He's the same height as Arrow and has the same pale skin. This boy's hair is a messy dark red instead of brown but they both have the same brown eyes, they must be brothers. Arrow's brother is wearing similar earrings to Gabriel and a dog tag around his neck.
"This is Arrow's big brother, Rip. He's a Blazie," Before anyone can say anything, Gabriel says pretty loudly,
"Though he's not very powerful," Arrow smirks while his brother elbows a giggling Gabriel.
"Shut up!" Crynn smiles at me,
"You're probably more interested in the girls than those three losers, huh?"
Gabriel snorts while Rip snickers. What's their problem?
Crynn moves over to the three girls who are either glaring or rolling their eyes at the three guys. He gestures to a tall, statue looking girl who's rolling her eyes back so far, it's a wonder they don't roll right out of her head. The tall girl looks like she has Native blood, which is pretty rare nowadays, she has long, dark blue hair, and small light blue eyes. She's wearing a grey off the shoulder top and rare orange jewelry. With her skin tone and jewelry, her family must be ancient and rich. I give her a small smile and wave softly at her.
"This is Alpha Ingemar, she's a Wavie and really powerful." When I hear her last name my eyes widen and my smile melts. I flex my hand accidentally on a final wave, and energy pulses around my fingers. The metal bars of the cells groan, everyone grows quiet and I realize they're staring at me. I hide my hand behind my back. Alpha glares at me.
Why would Crynn bring her here? Does he know that her Mother works here? Does he know that her Mother is my new doctor? He must not because Crynn has moved on to the next girl, who's smiling warmly at me. The girl has a huge grey witch hat covering her long, wavy brown hair. The girl's skin tone matches the color of her hair almost exactly, her eyes are only a slightly darker brown than the rest of her body. She's wearing a very light grey strapless dress.
"Raylee this is Vega Sienna, who's another Rockie."
I return her warm smile but refrain from waving this time. Vega grins,
"Nice to meet you Raylee,"
The order the girls are standing in reminds me of stairs. Alpha, who's the tallest, is standing next to Vega, who only reaches her shoulder without the obnoxious witch hat, who is standing next to the shy girl, who only reaches Vega's shoulder. The shy girl is still hiding in her light grey hoodie, I notice the purple hair spilling slightly onto her shoulder. Her big blue eyes are looking at the floor and her pale skin brings out her black lipstick. She shuffles her feet.
"And this is Signey, she's a fellow Sparkie." Signey looks up at me briefly and offers me a small smile before returning her gaze to the floor again.
"What are you?" A voice blurts out, I look at Rip,
"Excuse me?" My voice shakes slightly,
"Do you speak another language? I said, what are you?" Crynn, unfortunately, stays silent. I look around at the group before me, surely Alpha knows, her mother must have told her. Judging from her angled head, she doesn't know, dang it.
"A Faulty Sparkie," I whisper while looking at Signey, I hear Gabriel whisper not-so-quietly,
"What's that?" I look at Crynn, he nods at me.
"Come on! Show them!"
"Yeah! Show us!" Rip taunts. I hear Gabriel snicker and see Arrow's lips form a timid smile of amusement.
What should I show them? Should I do something with magnetism? Maybe turn off gravity in the hall? Wait, I know. I walk over to a smirking Rip, his smirk fades the closer I get. I reach up and ruffle his hair while pulling on my weak electricity powers, his hair shoots up with static and I can hear the sparks on his head. I pull my hand away, all of his dark red hair is standing on end like he just got struck by lightning. I lean closer to his surprised face,
"That's it," I whisper, "That's all I can do."
