"Hold it right there, fellas! Pointing your guns at a helpless woman is rather rude and distasteful" Elouise mockingly stated, slowly raising both of her hands in the air and placing them at the back of her head as a sign of surrender.
This is not how Elouise envisioned her New Year's Eve would be, particularly being stuck at a roof top of a 50-story building surrounded by armed men with guns pointing at her. Elouise can feel her face warming up behind her mask but cold sweats trickle down her temple as she chuckled softly in disbelief at her own loss.
Her jaw clenched trying to suppress her anger as she peered at them with contempt, one-by-one Elouise check the looks of each gunmen with occasional mocking glances before replicating a picture of them in her head.
"If you guys don't mind me staring, I'll be sure to remember your pretty faces once I'm down in hell" Elouise muttered in a playful but harsh tone, her icy-greyish blue eyes glowed in resentment as she laughed villainously in an attempt to distract the gunmen to buy her some time before she can shapeshift again. Luckily, a random guy shouted among them and bit her bait.
"Cover your faces! She has the ability to copy anyone's physical appearance!"
Elouise tilted her head to the side and snickered at their sudden response to the order.
"Come on! Whoever said that is not being a gentleman, can you at least heed a request from a dying person? I'm like seconds away from my deathbed" she said in a sarcastic tone as she tucked the loosed strands of her ash-grey locks and bit her lower lip grimacing at them.
Gianna Elouise Smith, is chosen to be the earthly beacon of the ruling celestial sign; Gemini. She is endowed with a shapeshifting ability, she can transform into any living creature she had touch, it may be an animal or a person but she can only do such transformation for a given amount of time.
'Last two minutes, Elouise!' A loud high-pitched voice rang in her head causing her to jolt in shock and curse under her breath. Elouise has never accustomed herself in telepathic messages especially with Veronica who relays the time for her.
Everyone went dead silent except for the hustle across the streets, but between Elouise and the bunch of hooligans who wanted to play 'shoot the duck' with her, the intense aura of intent to kill grew.
Elouise knew that there is only one way to escape from all of this, it's a matter of life and death, whatever comes is for the sake of unravelling her true identity as a zodiac sign, her past and her newly found ability.
Then out of the complete silence, a pair of footsteps arose, it was uncanny and mysterious, as if every movement and noise mellowed down to the defined short crunch of the steps. The approaching sound was firm and steady like a lion marking his territory.
A figure of a man appeared among the armed men, his facial features are being covered by the shadow of the moonlight behind the damp clouds, he seems to be taller than any average man, his broad chest and sharp shoulders was given emphasis by his button up shirt that clung tightly to him.
"I would like to say that it's a pleasure to meet you but it would be a lie" the man's voice was low but silvery, mysterious in a way that Elouise wanted to see more of this man walking towards her with confidence.
His feet gently pounds on the floor as he made his way in even strides towards Elouise who is caught up in the feeling of danger and sudden excitement, he emits a strong masculine energy that Elouise had never encountered before.
"Finally, someone who is worthy of my time" she gave him a half-suppressed scornful laugh and looked straight at him.
"Surrender the ring" As soon as his voice reached Elouise she shuddered, sending a chill down her spine. It was deep and raspy with so much power and authority, but neither will Elouise submit to his demands. She's determined and focused to complete her mission.
"Sorry, hot stuff! But that's a pretty tough request you got there. And I'm afraid that I have to hold unto this for quite some time" The girl cooed, as she gained her confidence back. She turned her right hand which is still on the air, in a slow but steady movement and showed a black-matted onyx jewelry wrap around her ring finger.
"It sure looks lovely on my finger don't you think?" she teased him and playfully moved her fingers to catch the man's attention.
His golden orbs glowed as he examined the ring and darted daggers right back at her. The moonlight gradually shines upon the both of them as the dark clouds gave way to reveal the man, Elouise's lips slightly parted and her expression softened at the sight of the man.
'Twenty- five seconds left!' Elouise barely heard Veronica's telepathic message. Apparently, she was in shock and is oddly mesmerized with the man standing in front of her, she felt as if he knew him long ago but can't quite place a finger on it.
"Surrender it, now" He demanded firmly but Elouise's interest made her smirk at the marvel of his authority, there is nothing human about him, his aura, his gaze, his words and his appearance.
He's simply the definition of a Greek god, an Adonis who draws anyone with his fiery golden eyes, his rich hazelnut hair that had tousled perfectly on his face.
'10 seconds!' A voice shrieked in her head but she did not flinch, without any movement and silence echoed across the space separating them. Elouise can see the man's menacing aura, he is pushed to the edge of his seat but clearly, he is not manifesting it, his anger did not made it to his face and he looked quite charming still.
"You know what? You're adorable when you are mad. But this would be the last time I'll be seeing you, so here's a piece of advise"
Elouise place both of her hands down which prompted the gunmen to adjust their grip towards her, she is one trigger away from getting killed. But Elouise knew, she already won the battle, she boldly leaned towards the man's side and whispered to his ear with clarity and emphasis.
"Don't mess with a Gemini" she slowly recoiled, her lips lightly brushing the man's cheek and with one last menacing look Elouise turned her back from the scene and dived right off the building.
But before the man could reach for her grasp, it was too late, she was already gone, like a dust on thin air that suddenly dissappeared. The man grunts and started to curse loudly and loosely, the gunmen started to search for Elouise around the rooftop, peering down the building but there was no sign of her.
"Sir Dominique! What's that?" One of the soldiers came to the tall adonis-like man and pointed down at a white bird. It seems to be barn owl flapping its wings gracefully away from them.
Dominique's deep golden eyes pierced at the owl, his gaze tailed it from behind before the owl enveloped in the mist. He knew that this wont be the last time they'll see each other, perhaps, maybe, this is just the beginning of a long journey.
